  • Some people refer to the Americana as a kimura, because the grip is the same and they are both shoulder locks...he's actually right in the video (unlike the others) the correct way is to "paint" the mat and to keep the arm close to the body.

  • really good videos that helps a lot thank you guys (:

  • Isn't kimura where the arm goes the other way? And that's an Americana?

  • that is a americana lol

  • THEIR IS NO WRESTLING HOLD CALL A KIMURA...RESPECTFULLY BILLY WICKS OR AMERICANA THEY ARE CALL DOUBLE WRIST LOCKS ...TOP / SIDE

  • THEIR IS NO WRESTLING HOLD CALL A KIMURA...RESPECTFULLY BILLY WICKS

  • very good. checkout unicyclehoopster on youtube

  • @ccccjovancccc

ya it did at the start, look at Fedor's little video on that, he shows where to put it and why not to make it more of an americana to try and finish the submission, cos you wont get it.

  • Two things to help your technique on the American - or straight side kimura - whatever. What you really want to do is bring the opponants elbow down towards his hip keeping it tight - at the same time "motorcycle" his wrist - rev it up like its a motorcycle throttle. If done correctly - a minimal amount of torque needs to be applied in order to get the tap.

  • Yea thats an americana

  • Keylock??????????????????????/

  • that 'kimura' your doing at 0:24 is actually called an americana.

  • nope. kimura.

  • @xomiakas How do you figure that is a kimura?

  • @MPA2000 kimura/reverse ude garami is when his palm is facing down near his belt or waist, americana/ude garami is when his palm is near his head

  • @StraightUppJeff Thumbs down? It's totally an americana...

  • 6,666 views lol creepy

  • its called an Ude Garami (arm entanglement) in judo and Traditional Japanese Jiujitsu. The brazillian's calls the reverse of Ude Garamni (Gyaku Ude Garami) "the Kimura "in homage to Masahiko Kimura, for breaking Helio Gracie's arm with the technique. The americana is another name for Gyaku Ude Garami.

After everything, these are Japanese grappling techniques and knowing the traditional names of the techniques honors the Samurai warrior class who created and used many of them in battle.

  • Thats a freakin americana !!!!

  • this could work but probably for like an amateur bout

  • why does the name of it matter so much? getting the name right isn't going to submit the guy...

  • and maybe as a detail you would want to bring the elbow to the rib but heyyy I'm NOT a rocket scientist or anything don't mind me

  • AMERICANA!!!

  • i was told that was a kimura aswell

  • that is not a kimura, same concept but not a kimura, it's an americana set up badly at the start by "pinning the wrist" mmmm technical.

  • good stuff man. shrek looking dude looks like he can handle himself.

  • It's a fucking Americana!Where does this Shrek looking douche train?
