Madonna can't sing. Can't act either. Madonna wasn't in the radar when the movie was being planned. She herself said that she had to write the producers a letter and kept following up, BEGGING them to cast her. Her casting generated noice. But the movie would have made more contribution to the arts if they had made this a launching movie in the US for the uber-talented Lea Salonga instead!

Lea definitely has a wonderful voice. Every note is perfectly hit. But, this song is sung by a dying lady in the Movie. Or say, this piece of music is trying to show the confession and emotion of Evita who was close to die. "Why are you at my side...You must love me...." always brings my tear up.

Evita Peron is dying here as she sings to her husband in what is supposed to be a delicate, tender moment. Have you tried ozone and/or hydrogen peroxide injection therapy? I would look into it deeply. Your average doctor will tell you it is bad because he is a slave to pharmaceutical bosses. Think homeopathy doctor and find one who is familiar with this therapy.

I love Lea but this version is too dull. Madonna's version is more emotional and overall the song suited her voice more. It was written for her after all.

I like her voice.
But I like Madonna's voice coz it's lower and sounds a bit masculine at times... and I guess it reminds me better of Eva's personality...... you know? She was strong and a bit verbally violent..
I dunno... I'm just an admirer of the real Eva..

There isn't a cure. There are many different 'treatments' that may help for some but not all. I have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and my aunt has Fibro.

Nice job singing this. I didn't feel the angst of someone about to lose their lover however. When Brooke White sings this, I just want to cry in anguish.
Lea Salonga has a wonderful voice. I just didn't well up inside over this performance.

It's a beautiful version but doesn't sound like if Eva Peron was singing it (the character of course). Her voice is too sweet and very technical but that gives the song another dimension and context. Excellent rendition anyway!

when i want to relax, enjoy good music, i just listen to songs & voice of lea.... soothing to the ear, crystal-clear..voice of an angel. singing actress like her that i appreciate the most of being around. when i like to hear real music, instead of the screaming divas that are all around 2day dominating the airwaves.

Err think you'll find Lea Salonga is one of the top actors on stage out there. Yes maddona is good with here version but remember everyone is good in ther own way. My ex said the same and i've not taken tmy ex to a musical since as you can't compare film to stage there totally different!!

Hmmm. I kind of like, Madonna's version of You Must Love Me. Better. Even Though Lea's is beautiful too, Madonna's just my first Eva. The first time I heard this song. I burst in tears. I mean literally burst into tears. I cried so much.This song really tells you how much Eva really loved her husband. She's just scared to leave him. May Eva Rest In Peace! God Bless Her.

She sings beautiful but the best of that son,g the master is Madonna, yes I know she hasn't the best voice but she was the first to sing that song and she made an exelent role in Evita. Her Golden Globe was not free.

I like Madonna's version better.
Solange's version is too up tight and technical.
Madonna's version is well sung and more emotional, actually.
And the way she transformed the song now in 2008 and sings it on her new tour is wonderful.
But, anyway, Solange is a great singer.
