  • excellent preformance, que bien lo hacen!!!!

  • eh, the shaker on dudes hand really ruins the sounds i think

  • That was amazing. I love the didge. Im the only girl I know of who plays one. But I need a hang drum to play with it now. That was amazing, great job. :D

  • Where is hidden the one making "throat singing" at 1.39? fits good with the didg and hang...

Thanks for sharing this music sharing anyway :)

  • That's done by Bruce who is playing the hang

  • Comment by Dr Bruce Copley Hang player. Dear flutecarrier + Playhanghang thanks for your comments. While I agree that the sweetest sounds are created when playing the Hang less forcefully than I am doing here, the poor acoustics and loud didge playing made this necessary. In my opinion the Hang is only being played too forcefully when this results in the notes being distorted....This was not happening in this spontaneous jam which incidently was enthusiastically applauded by those present

  • Bruce, forgive me but such forceful playing is for drums. the hang is not a drum. and regarding "enthusiastic applause" , lions eating Christians were enthusiastically applauded...You have a magical instrument. I'm sure you know that. It should be presented in a magical way.

    Blessings,

    Saggio

  • What IS strange to me is that you ignore completely what Bruce says. He AGREES that the Hang creates better sounds when you play it less forcefully. He also EXPLAINS THE NEED to create louder sounds. Also, why does 'magical' exclude LOUD? It is another dimension to Hang playing. Do you only listen to softly played musical instruments? The piano is also 'magical' - like any other instrument - yet that is no reason not to explore its full range. My compliments for a great performance.

  • The hang can be played much louder with the right playing technique, and that technique does not require pounding on the hang. When 2 or more sounds are combined, the artists much reach a balance or risk making noise instead of music. Dr Copley's flathand approach doomed the balanxce from the start.

  • Fair enough, I see your point, but I think this sounds great as it is. I think the balance between the two players is great. This is music to my ear. You are saying it could sound better - I agree - anything can be improved on. But, I'd like to see it instead of just speculating about it. Show me.

  • Bruce M the only real way to be "shown' is to live with and play a hang for several years, allowing IT to show you. There is a subtle, wonderful relationship that evolves with hang and hands and ears and consciousness. Yes, any sound from the hang will have at least a hint of other-worldness in it. But heaven "happens' most exquisitely for the player who surrenders and loses all sense of self "performing" for an audience.

  • Well I think it's just a different style - invigoratingly and refreshingly different. It shows us that the Hang can also be played in a more dynamic and energetic way!

It's just like anything else - you might have your favourite tennis player, maybe someone who 'murders' the ball with the racket, or maybe someone who coaxes it gently around the court - they can both be great players and it's kind of stupid to compare them with each other. Why not enjoy each one for who he is?

  • sure looks like Bruce is pounding that hang into submission. works better when we submit to the hang

  • Bruce's a bit heavy handed with the Hang. Lighten up and the Hang can really sing.
