I saw this like five years ago on a Victory Records sampler I got at Warped Tour. I believe it also had "Masterpiece" by Bayside on it. That DVD changed my life for the better!
@heyho007 Actually, Spitalfield fits the bill for emo pretty well. Take the guitar riffs from a Promise Ring song and at smooth Jimmy Eat World style vocals and you've got a Spitalfield song. Emo doesn't have to be dark n edgey bands who were eyeliner, it's basically just indie rock mixed with melodic hardcore with expressive, confessional lyrics.
HOLY CRAP!! Fave band ever and I totally remember getting their CD back when Victory records was still a good label. Only amazing ones still left there are Streetlight Manifesto and Bayside.. but this song and Fairweather Friend are amazing!
@mattchoo1 i actually know this! I went to one of their last shows in the uk just before they split and asked Mark why they were splitting up. He says it was because they had interest from bigger labels but because they were signed by Victory Records they couldn't go anywhere with it and Vict Rec didn't want to let the bigger labels have them so they decided instead of continuing to stay with a smaller label they'd split up. Mark has gone solo since.
spitial field man awsome music i remeber seeing this video a few years back onb my victory records dvd wen taking back sunday was still signed to them oh i miss those days
Wow, this was the kind of music I used to listen to when I was in 8th grade (currently a sophomore) my music taste has really matured..it's weird. I'm more into indie, experimental, ambient stuff :o
this band was so underrated...that whole chi town scene four, five, six years ago was just blowing up bands (fall out boy, academy is, june, the audition, etc)
lmao fall out boy? they are a bunch of sellouts. Their old music was good, now they are just about the money instead of the music. By the way spitalfield even broke up is still more of a band than fall out boy.
Listen to "Take This To Your Grave" and compare it to anything afterwards, and tell me money and what the record label tells you doesn't affect your music.
Also, look around at the fans at those concerts, I can't hear a single dude in that crowd. Just 15 year old girls.
And this is coming from a diehard fan of this entire GENRE for about 12 years now.
I totally agree man-- that scene was based on DIY, friendship, and an actual love for music. I mean, the huge impact that major record labels had on bands is ridiculous. Take a look at what happened to all the bands on Drive Thru records when the Geffen split happened.
Take a look at Taking Back Sunday. Tell All Your Friends was a major influence on most of the pop punk bands today but if you look at their lineup now, Adam Lazzarra is practically the only original member since then.
Compare Yellowcard's One For The Kids to whatever nonsense they're doing now.
I could go on and on about bands from that specific scene that may not have necessarily sold out, but definitely don't stand for the same things they once did.
if you knew anything about The Starting Line, you'd know that they got fucking screwed by Geffen and Virgin.
and finally, just watch the video for Fall Out Boy's Dead on Arrival and tell me you don't believe what MATTYSAYS posted.

Thats funny, I started listening to these guys when they where once considered Indie... that was 7 years ago.
This makes me feel old, I just graduated College...
Even if this is called Pop Punk, it use to be what the scene was about.
Bands like the Atari's, MXPX, NOFX, Rancid, Old TBS where so epic.
