The trilling cry sounds very cool, whatever it is. I've never heard that before but if I had to guess I'd say it's some kind of owl. Owls make a variety of strange noises. As for the ticking sound, that's an insect.

I heard this exact sound last night and have been wondering what it is. I live in Maricopa Arizona so obviously thats not far from Tucson. Were you ever able to figure out what it was that was making the sound? I heard it at 4am and it kept going for about 30 minutes until it stopped.

to me it sounds possily like a fox or a cat, I only live in the UK so i'm not an expert.either that or it could be a child or as the rancher said it could be a type of frog or toad there is a bullfrog that makes this kind of noise and it is very shrill almost like a frog

Okay... Last night when my parents came home from their dinner... they heard something weird... i didn't hear it but right now at 2:40am ... i heard it and i was on here trying to find a clue of what it sounded like and your video caught me ears because it sounded just like that! but i dont live near ANY mountains... etc.. just a small town in pennsylvania... Your mystery species is the call of a Montezuma Quail. The reside in the mountains of SE AZ and Mexico. This one may have come down to the lowlands and became disoriented. Check out xeno-canto and type in Montezuma Quail. Listen to the calls. I think you'll be surprised.

This sounds like a montezuma quail calling. but i didn't know they did so at night. try looking up montezuma quail calls see what you think. They do occur in the SE AZ area.

The first time I heard this, everyone on my block was in the streets trying to figure out what was making that noise...that was 3 years ago, it wasn't rainy...but there were a lot of clouds and we couldn't see past them but we still heard this thing screaming from above.

The wierd thing is: I live in Mexico...we're pretty far away from Arizona so, whatever this is, it's probably traveling a lot and is very big.

I don't know if I'm crazy...but I've heard a variation of this cry before, but in a much deeper tone. I don't have any proof, unfortunately, but I've heard this sound twice over the course of 3 years...the last time being only a few months ago, during the rainy season. I don't know what it was, but this thing was quite huge...it's cry almost covered the sound of thunder.

The first time I heard this, there was something in the sky that we could see through the clouds, but didn't see up clearly.
