Soviet soldiers in 80th of the last century controlled almost all Afghanistan. American soldiers control one province and that not wholly. Evidently, that to American soldiers it is not been in strength to go along inland - then they will need thousands of pilotless airplanes and half of their aviation. But it very expensive, a presence is only marked therefore, to show to the world - here we here ...
the problem i see with the current ANA is not the training, or the dis loyalties of some soldiers, but the fact that you have an ethnic minority ruling the majority. The Pashtuns are the majority in the country, and they are constantly being disregarded by the Americans and the Tajiks, who are a minority are known to resent and even known to kill Pashtuns.
What the Americans fail to realize is that Afghanistan is not a united country against the Taliban and the reason why the Taliban are still

Honestly i dont see why we are over there teaching them how to fight and everything they blew up buildings of ours..... Killed thousans of people... and now we are going to teach them to fight back better?? that makes no sence what so ever... really what the hell...
@borrorkim The people who attacked us were Muslim extremest groups ( Al Qaeda, Taliban ) These are just afghani civilians who want their country to be better and to be able to fend for themselves so the U.S. does not have to fight for them.
@EricCris10sen well thats why you dont run armys.The AK is not that duable as you my think,also its way heavy when compaired to say the hk and AR15 the M16s are not really used so much anymore,They waste to much ammo.
If i give you 600 rounds of 7.62x39mm you have more weight than a soldier with 750 rounds of 5.56 nato or rem 223
so you will have to leave something else behind.Water? no telling.Also the size is alot smaller i get that but bullets in military weapons are not built to kill
M16 is crap give them back the kalashnikov! A lot easier to handle. The only advantage the M16 rifles has is that the bullets go faster through the air. But they can not penetrate a shit. It's only intended to hurt!
@orlick82 the 5.56 round was designed to hurt people instead of an instant kill. Example, you're fighting against 5 men when you hurt one of them with the 5.56 round he need one of the other on his team to take care of him, maybe two guys. Now they have to consentrate about him. Now you're suddenly fighting againt 3 men instead of five. If If he was killed at once, the two men didnt have to care about their teammate because he's dead!
@Anonymus0809 what do you mean you hurt them....if you shot an insurgent with an m16 in the chest area they're going to die, not designed for an instant kill? Go back to your airsoft guns you obviously know nothing about bullets.
@MsKillermetal I know this damn good! I have American relatives who have been down in somalia. One of them came in a situation where he had to shoot a Somali who came running towards him. He planted a burst into him with his m16 and he just continued to run. The guy was full of drugs! Then came another soldier up next to my cousin with an M21 and planted a bullet in him. He dropped like a stone..
@Anonymus0809 So based on what you're saying because it is a smaller caliber round than a .308 that is meant to hurt people and not to kill them. The reason the 5.56 bullet was designed was to decrease weight for soldiers and to increase the capacity of bullets they carried. And i could care less if you have distant relatives that you've probably talked to once and told you some story that they made up to entertain you. I doubt you've ever shot any rifle in your life besides an airsoft gun.
@MsKillermetal Yes Iknow you can carry more with the 5.56 etc.But my point is that the 5.56 goes right trought a guy and does not tear him apart as the 7.62! YOU should know that sice you're shooting so much! And please dont use my hobby as an attack against me.I'm in the National Guard for Youths and shot a lot of guns,glock 17,Mg3,G3A5,MP5 and the HK 416 Since we're not allowed two train combat,I'm using airsoft as training until I am old enough to join The Army. You dont know shit about me!
@Anonymus0809 "the 5.56 round was designed to hurt people instead of an instant kill" wrong. the AK round (7.62x39 was designed to maim. this is because it uses up more resources to take care of wounded soldiers, bogging down the enemy. also AK's were originally designed to give to untrained militia, to spray at the enemy. not only does the 5.56 round pack a shitload of powder, it tumbles at a high velocity
@BillKiernan Yes the AK47 was designed to untrained militia.It had great success in the beginning when the Russians first handed it over to insurgents in the nam war.In fact it was so good that even the U.S.Special Forces used it instead of the M16.After a while the US updated their AR's which led to the Russians developed AK-74,it was as simple as 47 but it had a smaller caliber 5.45 and a muzzle break to reduce recoil..Russia's answer to the American M16.
@BillKiernan The AK - 47 has one handicap, the recoil something that made it inaccurate. Thats why the m16 was better so the russians made their own "m16" the AK - 74
:) dont feel bad, your nations are already doing alot for our country. we are getting our ARmy back, schools are started again, education is back, hospitals are being built, afghan investors are now investing heavily in their own country instead of arab nations or pakistan.
in 8 years we as afghans have succeeded in many ways.. so u should feel good for us in that regard.. forget the past.. its gone.. we cant change that.. but we can change our future :)
@lxlArYanAlxl It's our DUTY as Afghans to go back and help our motherland even if you weren't born in it! I unfortunately had to abandon Afghanistan as many Afghans have but we swore one day to return to help. Although I am a proud Canadian Citizen I refuse to forget my Mother Land and see it as a lost cause, and I am soon to be Reservest in the Canadian Forces
Any Afghans reader this it doesn't matter where you are currently it's our DUTY to help are motherland even if we don't live there
strong is because they get support from the Pashtuns, who feel betrayed by the American government. The fact that the Taliban is mostly Pashtuns, can tell you that much.
It is naive of the US media to constantly say that the Afghans are against the Taliban, when in reality the majority of the population would rather the Americans try to make a peace deal with the Taliban. This is something the Americans MUST realize, if they want to get out of Afghanistan without looking like they were defeated
but alas, i fear they won't, too much blood has been spilled for their ignorance, and more will continue to spill, as long as they think that they can will through the notion of "might makes right."
another problem i see is, they are willing to destabilize another country, that has nuclear weapons, to fix Afghanistan, that is the most foolish thing for them to do. If Pakistan is destabilized, America can kiss millions of its citizens good bye, because the ones in Power will use it against them.
In the end, if the American government doesn't change its attitude towards South Asia, they will make matters worse (even more so than they have already.).
if you want proof that the ANA is filled with Tajik and not Pashtun, look at the requirments that the Pashtun recruits have to fulfill, compared to the Tajik, and try to spot a Pashtun in the soldiers in the video, i only saw 7 out of the dozens of them, and if you still don't believe me, notice the fact the soldiers are speaking Dari and Farsi (similar languages, but not completely the same), but not Pashtou
@helix4811 It depends what region they were recruited from, they will be sent to their regions corps. Later they will be split up upon completing training.
Not to mention many Pashtun Afghans want nothing to do with the government, so you will likely find more Dari or Farsi speakers than Pashtu.
Ah but there has never been an official census, so from what is being shown to us, it looks like the Pashtun soldiers only number in the hundreds, while the Tajik number in the thousands. The reason why this is because the Tajik were the ones to restart the ANA, so the Pashtun don't trust the government, seeing as the northern alliance was its founder. I think America really needs to step up recruitment in Pashtun areas, even if they run the risk of infiltration by the Taliban
@helix4811 "Pashtu fighters number in the hundreds" ??? You do realise the Army and Police are 15 times the size of the Taliban insurgents. So that obviously can't be true. The ANA are mostly Shia aswell :)
The problem that we were facing is that the Army wasn't paid enough, the fixed that about a year ago, and the Army grew almost 90,000 in a very short period of time since the end of 2009.
the numbers are about 200-250,000 for the army and police force combined, but that is too be expected. The insurgents are about 30-50,000 but then again they have neither lost numbers nor gained numbers. Even former General Stanley Mchrystal admitted that the Taliban can sustain themselves permanently. The problem with the ANA is that over a quarter of the officers resign every year, it isn't the pay, it is the fact that most soldiers don't show up after their first day.
The fact that the ANA is shia is also a problem, but not as big a problem as most people think, the problem is that the Taliban is a nationalist movement and not as religious as people seem to think. Now of coarse they use religion as a basis to get people to come together, but it is their sense of national pride that is making them fight the American forces. The Afghans fought like this, way before Islam was introduced to the world.
@helix4811 DoD didn't understand that using large units to fight against an insurgency is not a good idea over such a large area.
We had made more ground with special forces then we did with actual military power. Frankly, to be honest, once ISAF withdraws combat units from Afghanistan many of the Taliban will quit their jobs and go back to Kandahar. We seen the same thing after the statis of forces agreement in Iraq, and coincidently we practically won in Iraq because of that.
i don't think was a win, it was a strategic failure on Americas part, they only stalemated with the Iraqi insurgents. Never the less, you are right, most of the Taliban was only in it for either revenge (drone strike killing civilians) or they just want the foreigners to leave. Frankly, I think that Mullah Omar is being honest when he say he will hold peace talks only when the American forces leave.
Now what i'm really worried about is Pakistan, they are suffering the most because of this war. It costs about $18 billion for an operation to be conducted in the NW frontier province, and America is only offering 4 billion to fight Americas war for them.
@helix4811 It isn't (and should not be) a militaristic war, it's a political problem. Which will be from Pakistan.
In 10 -15 years after we withdraw, I can imagine there might even be a DMZ of sorts at the Durand line (which would help with the sectarian violence in Afghanistan.)
And seeing the Afghan Army and US has had a few clashes with the Pakistani Army, this is not good for relations of the two countries.
I do agree that this shouldn't be a militaristic war, but it is according to the US-DoD. if America doesn't fix its mistakes, we could see an prolonged war way past Americas withdrawal. America needs to seriously think about Pakistans concerns and security issues, and take into consideration what Pakistan wants and needs to survive, instead of just throwing money at the problem and threaten Pakistan with drone strikes and with holding of aid.
If America wants to at the very least come out of this conflict without looking like complete failures, they MUST hold talks with the Taliban leadership, and promise to withdraw completely from the nation. That was the condition that the Taliban leader Mullah Omar set for talks, the complete and utter withdrawal of foreign troops from Afghanistan before he would sit at the table with Karzai...
Also the funny thing is, from the news, the Taliban have stepped up their own recruitment for Tajik fighters, so in a sense, the Taliban have much better propaganda than America, because the Taliban can argue they (both Pashtun and Tajik) are united against the Americans, while America can't really say that without lying.
@lxlArYanAlxl "forget the past.. its gone.. we cant change that.. but we can change our future" Wise and sensible words. All men of all countries around the world should think like you do :)
@pccalcio i agree with him as well. we couldn't even imagen a normal life 10 years ago. whatever the politics maybe, the western countries, and countries like turkey, indonasia etc, all of the nato members try extremely hard to help us out. we were a failed state, and thank god today we have hospitals that can treat our children, we have schools that our youth can go to, yes we have security problems, but we will over come it, with the help of our brothers and sisters in west.
Not all right wing political viewers are religiously brainwashed, and not all religious people are right-wing. Look at JFK. He was the first Catholic President and he was Democratic.

911 was a public snuff film used to shock the public and enact the end of the Bill of Rights & invasion of oil bearing countries, & make money for private companies like Halliburton, (stock from 10 to 50 a share)!
By destroying the WTC, they were able to cover up theft of gold bullion & destroy illegal financial transaction records performed just prior to the attacks
Silverstein spends 140 million to make 7 billion almost over night; Silverstein said it was demolished by explosives, (pull it)
The 2.3 trillion, announced "missing" on 9/10/01 could certainly have funded such an operation (it was deemed missing from 199-2000), including paying off actors to fake testimonies, etc... just like Operation Northwoods planned to do.
It just so happened that the very offices that would have been investigating where that money went... got hit by "a plane".
Ya to the guy thinking they should do it themselves. We were never stopping you from that. So go on ahead and get all the weapons and bases and technology without our support.

America needs to cover the costs of the growing Welfare state they live in with more Warfare
Welfare Breeds Warfare to cover the costs of the government and Warfare is the fastest ticket to more Welfare as it is 100% dependent on the state for funding
No doubt America is paying for all this. Where are all the Liberals that complain about church and state separation? We are training religious fanatics.
You clearly have no idea what separation of church and state means, I suggest you go read up on it before you make yourself look even more like a fool.
God. Yes, I fucking know it doesn't exactly say the phrase "separation of church and state." That is what that line of the first amendment MEANS however.

The problem that we were facing is that the Army wasn't paid enough, the fixed that about a year ago, and the Army grew almost 90,000 in a very short period of time since the end of 2009.
TheEvilAmerican 11 months ago
@TheEvilAmerican
the numbers are about 200-250,000 for the army and police force combined, but that is too be expected. The insurgents are about 30-50,000 but then again they have neither lost numbers nor gained numbers. Even former General Stanley Mchrystal admitted that the Taliban can sustain themselves permanently. The problem with the ANA is that over a quarter of the officers resign every year, it isn't the pay, it is the fact that most soldiers don't show up after their first day.
helix4811 11 months ago
@TheEvilAmerican
The Afghans fought like this, way before Islam was introduced to the world.
helix4811 11 months ago
@helix4811 DoD didn't understand that using large units to fight against an insurgency is not a good idea over such a large area.
We had made more ground with special forces then we did with actual military power. Frankly, to be honest, once ISAF withdraws combat units from Afghanistan many of the Taliban will quit their jobs and go back to Kandahar. We seen the same thing after the statis of forces agreement in Iraq, and coincidently we practically won in Iraq because of that.
TheEvilAmerican 11 months ago
@TheEvilAmerican
i don't think was a win, it was a strategic failure on Americas part, they only stalemated with the Iraqi insurgents. Never the less, you are right, most of the Taliban was only in it for either revenge (drone strike killing civilians) or they just want the foreigners to leave. Frankly, I think that Mullah Omar is being honest when he say he will hold peace talks only when the American forces leave.
helix4811 11 months ago
@TheEvilAmerican
Now what i'm really worried about is Pakistan, they are suffering the most because of this war. It costs about $18 billion for an operation to be conducted in the NW frontier province, and America is only offering 4 billion to fight Americas war for them.
helix4811 11 months ago
@helix4811 It isn't (and should not be) a militaristic war, it's a political problem. Which will be from Pakistan.
In 10 -15 years after we withdraw, I can imagine there might even be a DMZ of sorts at the Durand line (which would help with the sectarian violence in Afghanistan.)
And seeing the Afghan Army and US has had a few clashes with the Pakistani Army, this is not good for relations of the two countries.
TheEvilAmerican 11 months ago
@TheEvilAmerican
I do agree that this shouldn't be a militaristic war, but it is according to the US-DoD. if America doesn't fix its mistakes, we could see an prolonged war way past Americas withdrawal. America needs to seriously think about Pakistans concerns and security issues, and take into consideration what Pakistan wants and needs to survive, instead of just throwing money at the problem and threaten Pakistan with drone strikes and with holding of aid.
helix4811 11 months ago
@TheEvilAmerican
Pakistans democracy is young, and it needs to be nurtured, but America is doing the exact opposite without realizing it.
helix4811 11 months ago
@TheEvilAmerican
If America wants to at the very least come out of this conflict without looking like complete failures, they MUST hold talks with the Taliban leadership, and promise to withdraw completely from the nation. That was the condition that the Taliban leader Mullah Omar set for talks, the complete and utter withdrawal of foreign troops from Afghanistan before he would sit at the table with Karzai...
helix4811 11 months ago
@TheEvilAmerican

All men of all countries around the world should think like you do :)
pccalcio 9 months ago
@pccalcio i agree with him as well. we couldn't even imagen a normal life 10 years ago. whatever the politics maybe, the western countries, and countries like turkey, indonasia etc, all of the nato members try extremely hard to help us out. we were a failed state, and thank god today we have hospitals that can treat our children, we have schools that our youth can go to, yes we have security problems, but we will over come it, with the help of our brothers and sisters in west.

I can't figure out who's more retarded: the left wing conspiracy whack jobs, or the right wing religiously brainwashed wack jobs.
Akolyte01 2 years ago
Not all right wing political viewers are religiously brainwashed, and not all religious people are right-wing. Look at JFK. He was the first Catholic President and he was Democratic.
Frostedflakes616 2 years ago
And not all left wingers are conspiracy whack jobs.
But those people exist on both sides and they both seem to drown out rational thought.

Silverstein spends 140 million to make 7 billion almost over night; Silverstein said it was demolished by explosives, (pull it)
sugarpuddin88 2 years ago
Yep. Inside job all the way.

The Trans-Afghanistan PIPELINE!
We don't leave until its compete
1) IT must be completed
2) They must Trade the Oil/Gas in USDs - American Currency!
America needs to cover the costs of the growing Welfare state they live in with more Warfare
Welfare Breeds Warfare to cover the costs of the government and Warfare is the fastest ticket to more Welfare as it is 100% dependent on the state for funding

thearmoredfatboy 2 years ago
No doubt America is paying for all this. Where are all the Liberals that complain about church and state separation? We are training religious fanatics.
oilhammer04 2 years ago
You clearly have no idea what separation of church and state means, I suggest you go read up on it before you make yourself look even more like a fool.
LastPosterStanding 2 years ago 2
Yes, I do, and it's not in the Constitution.
oilhammer04 2 years ago
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof"
Yes it is.
Akolyte01 2 years ago 2
Yes, this is a restriction on Congress, not the rest of us. That's the United States *Congress.*
oilhammer04 2 years ago
How does that have to do with anything? Separation of church and STATE is in the constitution.
Akolyte01 2 years ago
No, it was in a letter from Thomas Jefferson. Go read the Constitution.
oilhammer04 2 years ago
God. Yes, I fucking know it doesn't exactly say the phrase "separation of church and state." That is what that line of the first amendment MEANS however.
