Wow, I really dig this. I love how you walk the line between cheesy easy-listening prog rock, and well ....BEAUTIFUL prog rock. I mean that in the best way possible too - it's fun yet moving; whimsically anarchic.
Someone mentioned Dream Theater and Suzanne Vega (two of my favorites) and I wholeheartedly agree. Also, you and Temple 8 seriously need to tour together.
Nice, it’s like Peter Gabriel meets Suzanne Vega at little house on the Prairie, where they proceed to slaughter the partridge family and serve them to Dream Theatre.
@apatheticshp Next time someone asks me what kind of music we play, that will be my answer: "It's like Peter Gabriel and Suzanne Vega slaughtering the Partidge Family and serving them up to Dream Theatre." And everyone will say, "Oh, THAT same old genre again." (In the next song, the little house on the prairie burns to the ground, Suzanne Vega runs for the hills, and Ozzy makes the scene.)
Amazing song. I would love to see a freedom-loving metal band cover this, as the lyrics definitely would fit well coming from a band in the style of Nevermore, old Metallica or industrial-like of NIN. If only I had any musical ability LOL.
@cicatrixta Well, the last song we're planning on doing is a lot more head-banging-compatible. Lawrence Welk is more headbangin' than this one, but hey, your head belongs to you, and you may bang it if you wish. (By the way, nice tunage on your channel.)
Larken! Long time follower....had NO idea you had these kinds of talents!! (or I missed the musical interludes somewhere in the focus on the many rants)......anyhoo.....hope the messages in the music brings more people in to the fold.....the universal language of music stirs souls where mere spoken words sometimes fail.....much success!!!
Ah, where's Peter, Paul, and Mary when you need 'em!
You need to pick up the tempo a bit... something above "anarchistic crawl" ...also, the audio level is about 5dB below what these YouTubes post... just to be picky.
Now, all you have to do is get Pacifica Radio to give the finished product some airplay and you're off to the pre-IRS daze (not a misspelling) of harmony and bliss! The record won't go gold but maybe wood or aluminum....
Should've had à solo in th middle. I think.

I'm not exactly a Larkin Rose fan--he's a bid too rabid for my taste, though I agree with his sentiments--but this is very well done. Kudos!
