  • I think there's something in my eye... and the other one...

  • I watch Scrubs every day on E4 and they just started again from episode one today. The earlier episodes are SO different, they're more realistic and the comedy is more subtle. I don't know if I prefer the later, funnier more lovable episodes or the earlier, deeper more mature episodes. I'm happier that there are both. Such a good show.

  • @IamGilgamesh666 You're right, they made it more silly from season to season to attract a broader audience. From season 4 till the very last season scrubs allways had to "fight" to get airtime again. The most silly thing of all is that the first 2 or 3 seasons had higher viewer numbers than the later ones. Season 1 and 2 are probably my favortite. Although Season 4 was a good one too From there on the quality didn't get to the level of the first ones. Apart from some really good episodes.

  • Damn, all these onions...

  • ,,,wow

  • 1:13, the comfort of Grandma's hugs...

  • where do you think we are?

  • I sang this in chorus-practice. Almost cried at the end. Felt so embarrased. *Sorry for the misspelling.*

  • scrubs had it all. Humor, sadness, great cast, amazing writing, awesome directing, unbelievable soundtracks, everything.

I loved how you could spend 19minutes laughing, then in the last couple of minutes it could make you tear up. 10/10

episodes like My lunch, My screw up, my long goodbye, my old lady etc are what make it a 10/10 show.

  • this is the episode in which you understand that scrubs is something more than a comedy ...i miss scrubs so much.. :(

  • this and the conclusion to my bed, banter, and beyond could be the most moving moments in the season one, if not the series

  • Awww :'(

I love this show it was great messages

  • this is why Seasons 5 (though did have cox arc) 6 and 7 weren't as good, it was missing these moments. I felt S8 was a great return to form though

  • why dus she flick the needle? and i luv this episode, its really deep!

  • @aussiechick00 If you're curious, flicking the needle is to make sure that theres no air in there at all, because if that happens, there could be an air bubble in the veins that travels to the heart and kills you basically in an instant, food for thought eh?

  • Aww

  • One of my favorite episodes. This show taught me alot about life, I'll miss it forever.

  • "Hallejuah"... My favorite song all time, I love how they used it :)

  • i love this song but the versions by jeff buckley and rufus wainwright are even better

  • what song is that ?

  • @ilyascholberg223 it is "hallelujah" by jeff buckley

  • @VikaPerm it is hallelujah by john cale

  • it would have been cool if she was his grandmother and they didn't reveal it untill the end when he said "i'm scared".

...that also would have made the grown man being hugged like a baby thing a little less weird.

  • @JustThink00 it's not weird, you dont know how you bond with people that you work with in a hospital, ive never worked there but i was visiting a friend working there, and even i felt a sort of bond with his patient, and i couldnt have imagined them dying (they had luceamia)

  • @pigsy2012 well since i don't work in a hospital i guess you're right, though that was a completely baseless assumption. However that's all irrelevant because even when someone wants to show a LOT of emotion a grown man doesn't usually curl up in fetal position and sit in grandma's lap. if there was SOME sort of excuse such as it being HIS DYING GRANDMOTHER it would SORT OF work

  • @JustThink00 he's not really in fetal position and he only lent over n hugged her.

  • Damn the ending to this episode always makes me so sad...

  • Scrubs is the best

  • This one made me cry; its soo sad!!

  • Zach Braff was almost not JD. His first audition tape was lost and he did crappy on that anyway. They called him back, luckily, to try out again.

I guess things do happen for a reason

  • my favourite episode beacause its so sad :(

  • wats is ur prob man

  • Nothing ^^ i love sad things lol XDD

  • watch my lunch dude. it's so emotional !

  • @erwin005

    okey thx ^^

  • This is probably the one of the best episodes of any show that I have ever seen. The blend of comedy and heartfelt drama was masterful in this episode.

  • scrubs is already genius of the music choice :D

  • The first series of scrubs as the best in my opinion, the rest were still good but not the same

  • Different doesn't always mean bad.

  • I know, but I personally liked the first the best. I liked the feel better, if that makes any sense...

  • Hmm it does.

But I prefer the feel of the later series'. :P

  • That's cool, even though it seems like so few people on youtube realize this, people are allowed to have different opinions and I still like the later seasons.

  • Hahahaha. That's true. Thanks anyway.

  • This is one of the best episodes ever. It brings an amazing message to everyone. Really made me cry.

  • Definitely in the top 5 episodes of all time.

  • all i can say is wow!!

  • liste to jeff buckley version

  • brings a tear to my eye every time, best scrubs episode ever.

  • scrubs is the best tv show ever in regards to the music that they pick. Every ending has such a great song to wrap up the episode.

  • Top 5 scrubs ending with My SCrew Up, My Lunch, and a couple others.

  • scrubs always has can have a powerful message some times.

  • Cry at this one every time

  • I love Scrubs^^ It's funny one minute, and then the next minute...it makes my cry and use up the rest of the klenex...I love this song too, it fit this episode well.

  • Some Scrubs episodes make me cry... They're almost always really good.

  • Scrubs won't be coming back in the sense of what it was before though. From what I've heard the shift is going to be to the new medical students with Dr Cox and Turk being the primary characters instructing a new class of med students. The traditional characters are supposed to make appearances because the med students do have to work in the hospital for their training but they won't be in every episode

  • Best episode

  • Fav. Scrubs episode ever.

  • the actor of the old lady could be the mother of the guy who does the janitor

  • your joking bailee?

  • There coming back for season 9 though their going to be changing the show Braff and most of the regulars I think are only signing up for the first 6 episodes

  • No joking. Check it out in the wikipedia.

  • awesome!

    I love scrubs

  • scrubs is coming back!!!

zach braff announced it on his myspace page!!!

  • J.D.'s "I'm scared." shows the purity and bliss of his character.

    So sweet.

I love this episode. One of the best.

  • Before Scrubs I never really got emotional over TV shows. Then, four episodes into the first season, I was in floods.

    That is quality television.

  • "how many times have you sat on the grass and done nothing" I always remeber this line. As much as I will miss the comedy, I will miss the deeper, thought provoking, life lesson side of scrubs even more. Scenes like this is why I love Scrubs. Credit to a great cast and acting, aswell as amazing script writting... Scrubs had the ability to fill you with tears whether it's from the comedy or moments like this... Long live scrubs... Missing it already

  • whotubeitube - great post, I totally agree!

  • @whotubeitube yeah, i lie on the grass and do nothing lots, i really dont know why but it's just so satisfying to sit there

  • it's so poignant that the old lady has to comfort the young greenhorn doctor over her impending death. really just a powerful scene and wonderfully acted. thanks for the memories, Scrubs.

  • i started crying in the finale when he saw her in the hallway with all the people he knew.

    It got me

  • my favorite episode

  • ive got many scrubs episodes on my channel

  • this episode is the most touching,I cry every time i watch it ,Great Show!!

  • Oh man... Never actually cried for a tv show before. What a great show. :)

  • Iv never teared for a show before. wow.

  • nearly cried.

    brilliant :)

  • all the funny moments the show has had are great but this episode was the one that convinced me this show and this cast was truly, truly special, such a great, emotional episode and its the 4th one they did(!)

  • This scene gives me shivers every time I watch it. I think that's what a great scene is supposed to do, it's meant to make you feel things and connect with the scene.

You cannot get that in Reality TV, the use of lighting, cameras and in particular the music used is what made this scene what it was.

I have to give credit to Zach Braff for the brilliant acting in the part when the old lady told him to leave, you truly felt he was scared and saddened.

    Brilliant scene.

  • First time I watched this, I cried.

    Scrubs is amazing.

  • WHO IS SINGING THIS SONG?

  • John Cale, sings this version of the song. :)

  • the saddest momment in the series I've seen so far I actually cried x.x

  • my sis likes scrubs-I have never actuallly seen a whole episode...or half (: lol is it good? WWJD???lol

  • yeah defo, watch it :P

  • I tried but she took it away lol(: But I like friends better...

  • Scrubs is like no other show. i didn't start watching it until season 5, I still remember the first episodes I watched, "My lunch" and "my Fallen Idol" I was Hooked from then... Stick with it, and you might even like it more then Friends... I do!

  • I hate Friends (the show, I assume you were talking about) but I love Scrubs, got them all (except the latest season) on DVD.

  • sad episode

  • First Scrubs episode I ever saw

  • I was choked up for about 10 minutes after this...

After JD Mentioned the "1 out of 3 Patiens" thing earlier on I feared the worst. (As in just one of them would die)

Then I heard/saw the flatline on all the monitors and the tears started flowing... The Award was well deserved for this episode.

  • I just saw this a few minutes ago.. this episode makes me cry every time...

  • f******g A. quality. worked frontline medicine for 8 yrs- brings back some poignant memories watching this,-thanks scrubs...and thanks for posting.

  • have a dream, to lay on the grass in sunny day and think about the things that have to do

  • this came out before the oc!!on the dvd features they say it was first to feature this song!!

  • Does anyone know what the title of the episode where the transferrance of germs is shown? It's a bit of a sad one, but one of my favorite episodes ever. I cannot find it.

  • 5x12 - My Cabbage

The song is Fix You by Coldplay.

  • What, the song at the end of this :S

    Its not XD

  • dude i fuckin cry all the time!

  • I really love this episode. My friend always talks about the "How to save a life" episode but for me this is just as emotional.

When I first saw this I was blown away. It's like scrubs is funny...LOL and then out of nowhere this happens.

Shows that are funny and sad at the same time are the best, it must be difficult to balance both but scrubs does it so well.

  • One of the reasons I became a big fun of Scrubs is this episode. It reminded a lot of MASH, a great comedy and drama, which tried to find a way to take the calamity of war and people dying with humor to get through it. Good to see Scrubs pulls this same idea off flawlessly.

  • You are so right! This is very much like MASH - the kind of show that can make laugh out loud and cry in the same episode. It's very real and very smart. I think that's why not everyone gets it - it's not a dumb sitcom - you really have to have a brain to get it! Glad it's coming back for another season!!!

  • Bill Lawrence has always said he wanted the show to be very dramatic and serious, which is the whole idea for season 8. he wants a dramatic and memorable ending. But if you always were a fan for the comedy parts, thats cool. But its most likely the majority of season 8 will not be the funniest thing you've ever seen, but it will be emotional, like the ending shown here :)

  • @step5732 MASH gets such high praise from all of my friends but the few episodes i've seen have been nothing more than really bad, cheesy, dated, sitcom dullness. wtf am i missing?

  • thats is so true

  • this episode is so sad, scrubs combines humour with its seriousness its an awesome show

  • Love the moment where they here the beep, you don't know which one will die. Just goes to show you - life isn't fair - but you learn and move on. Scrubs always gives you an excellent balance of laugh out loud humor and real human sadness - Great Show!

  • the kid dying was the sadest part. Turk's my favorite, he's awesome.

  • My favorite episode. The moment I realized what a great show Scrubs is.

  • I've... got to lie down on the grass and do nothing.

  • i think the episode when the photographer, dr. cox's cousin (sorry i forgot his name...) dies was also a really good episode

  • you mean jordans brother ben?

  • yes.

  • the qreatest episode i have ever seen i love scrubs

  • greatest episode ever

  • Hallelujah always makes me cry

  • IM SCRUBS' #1 FAN this bit is soo sad

  • What song is that?

  • Hallelujah by John Cale

  • hundredth rating

  • 1 hundreth and one rating btw i saw this last night

  • This episode makes me tear up every time

  • me too

  • the old lady reminds me of my geography teacher. Marylin Willet, she is the woMAN!!

  • zach braff

  • who is the actor that plays jd plz reply

  • zach braff

  • this is john cales version, i know this becoz it says so on the sountrack box, ha! jeff buckleys version is the best, end of story, brilliant episode and the song fits it perfectly, cant believe the 7th series is the last one ever,

  • It isn't there will be an 8th season on ABC

  • yes, and thank the lord, this season's finale would have been the most disappointing series finale in history.

  • this version of the song hallelujah is by Jeff Buckley. Took me ages to find it. lol

  • This version is a cover by John Cale.

  • No this ain't Rufus Wainwright.. I dunno who this is, but I want to 'cause it's a good version.

  • you can even search on here....its john cale..............its the version i like...but they allllll bring a certain peice to the song

  • Some people have said that this version is John Cale but i was sure it was Rufus Wainwright :/

  • no its john cale.....look it up.....

  • They had to have an episode like this where all the new doctors face death for the first time, and they did it extremely well. The song fits in perfectly as well.

  • I'm pretty sure JD faces death in the first episode.

    Remember Mr. Bursky?

  • ooh maybe not...John Cale

  • scrubs aint only funny,its educative,scrubs owns

  • I think this is an episode put together very nicely. The message is strong and clear, and I really hate terribly endings, and I really hate perfect endings, and this one fit right between.

  • Even though this the 4th episode ever of Scrubs, it shows how bloody good Zach Braff is as an actor even in his early years.

  • I can't see this scene... i cry every time ç___ç

  • I've seen this episode loads of times now so I don't cry that much anymore but the first time I was in bits!!!

  • Is she the same woman who plays Mrs McKluskey (may have spelled it wrong)in "Desperate Housewives"?

  • ya.....

  • i love this ep...and the ending makes me cry everytimes..and i feel like a pussy saying that since im a guy and all but still...u really gotta see the whole ep for the ending to be really sad..also beautiful song..hope mr. buckleys in a better place

  • Best ever episode

  • Amazing....

  • A beautiful ending!

  • This part always gets me close to crying.

I feel like a pansy, but a lot of that stuff is true.

You never know when you are going to go...

This part makes me think about that..

  • yes it's probably the best ending to scrubs in my opinion. and everyone's talking about all these versions of the song and i haven't seen anyone mention leonard cohen, the writer of the song.

  • Can any one plz tell me who is singing Hallelujah (version) in scrubs ?????????

  • Hallelujah by John Cale as told three posts beneath this one.

  • is it realt Jhon because I've compared this with another one and its dont sounds same.....

But thank you So much anyway

  • The version i have from this song is basically the same one as this one. So yes I'm pretty sure.

  • especially since my grama was EXACTLY like that

  • i love this part too, but when he says she went peacefully, it makes me sad cause they said that to me like 2 months ago

  • Can any one plz tell me who is singing Hallelujah in scrubs ?????????

  • rufus wainwight i think

  • Jeff Buckley (i think)

  • I love this episode

but for me the best episode is that when the doctor talks about hard things and is really beautifull

but somebody know the name of this song?

  • Hallelujah by John Cale, is a wonderfull song :D

  • Amazing episode, one of the best ones :D

  • I think that this is the best episode (and montage) of Scrubs that was ever made. It's a shame that the show peaked so soon.

Although I still love Scrubs (I REALLY do), it seems that the show has become such a diluted version of what it could have been. I hate the networks and studios for putting ratings and profit over artistic integrity.

Here's to what this show could have been!

    -x-

  • Aaw that was really nice :)

  • My Old Lady, is my favorite eppisode from the first season.

  • this is like my favorite episode. :(

it always makes me feel saddddd

  • that is a really good scene.

one of the saddest, and the song fits perfectly =] 5 stars, thanks for uploading

  • SHe is an awsome old lady hate to see her "die"

  • I LOVE it... it´s so sad... and I love the song "hallelujah" ( But i like the version of Rufus wainright more)

and it´s one of these "I-have-to-cry" moments...*hach*<this is the german version of *sigh*

  • I do like Rufus Wainright's more (though any version is great), but my favorite is that of Jeff Buckley.

  • oh no, the best version ive heard is by Kurt Neilsen and some of his friends, its on here somewhere
