well, really smellyicecream, it's a great render, it's just not perfect. Nothing is, but with simulations like these, as perfect as possible is better. Theres always room for improvement

I think one thing that might be turning people off to the image is the ammount the water is moving. you have a very rapid animation on it and its not reflected in the background. basically it looks like the wind is really moving that water but nothing else is. if you animated the trees, some clouds it might be more appealing. same as with your other animation the light is too hot. take it down a bit and it will look great.

No Baking involved here: it's not a fluid but a moving plane. Render time was about 4 Hours on 800x600 30fps OSA level 2
