I vaguely remember, think for each of the stars it begins like "there is a new star arising etc", then they repeat 5 times. That's why in the end very lengthy.
Did anyone heard of anything that there is a full version of this song. Not only does the full version describe what the moon stands for, it also describe each one of the stars. Each stars got their meaning.
I think I heard that full version before and remember that it's very lengthy but it
s inspirational though. Think it was due to some political reasons that they shorten the song.
there got 3 2007 ndp song and 1 of them is this 1 of them is will you 1 of them is my island home to confuse so they dont play this so this is the most popular haha
@augpeh Gong is her pinyin surname. Kwong is her actual English surname but the industry uses her pinyin surname more often. -.- I'm from her official FC...
its very nice, I like! But I see why they dont play this song anymore
"There's a new flag arising, out of the stormy see"
Well that was the situation in 1969 when this song was made but Singapore has been stable for decades now. but in a way, we just went through a stormy see, the financial crisis so maybe if you look at it that way..
this is a very old song from the 80's, just that they recorded it again with different singers (the 4 of them sang in 'will you'). the original one has a kid singing in it i think.
It's a classic, mind you. One of the 80's Singapore songs! It's not 1997, 2007 or 2008! But they renew the music. What a pity! The original one has an upbeat tempo. Nicer by the way!
From the lyrics you can also tell its from that era- "five stars arising, out of the stormy sea".. probably referring to a new age after our stormy days being part of Malaysia a few years before that

Lyrics Part 2
There are five stars arising, out of the stormy sea
Each is a lamp to guide our way; a lamp for all to see
Reach out for the stars above, savour freedom, truth and love
There are five stars arising, out of the stormy sea
There's a new flag arising, out of the stormy sea
Crimson as the blood of all mankind, yet white and pure and free
Reach out for the flag above, savour freedom, truth and love
There's a new flag arising, happy and proud are we

Lyrics Part 1
There's a new moon arising, out of the stormy sea
Youthful and bright and bearing hope, and tranquil as can be
Reach out for the moon above, savour freedom, truth and love
There's a new moon arising, out of the stormy sea
