  • more exciting than lana del rey anyday

  • Best live performance ive seen!

  • At least it isn't boring...

  • I wonder how much meth they really took?..

  • haha one of the worst performances I have ever seen. Almost worse than Converge.

  • the guy on rhythm guitar is the only one who was drinking water before the show lol

  • blaaaaafjeoiwijafpewa

  • Though this is actually a pretty shitty performance, it's enjoyable at the same time.

  • I fucking love Omar.

  • lol at the drive in is quite possibly one of the best bands ever, anyone else got the stones to fuck up your guitar in the middle of a song, thats kick ass, music is music, its not unprofessional, nor is it professional

  • I love ATDI. I love The Mars Volta. I'm a musician. I can appreciate something a little abstract or off the wall.

This sounds like monkeys bashing tins together. Sorry ATDI.

  • what the fuck is omar doing. wait wait wait, is this art?

  • Stop defending him . The rest of the band was great, omar ruined this. Totally unprofessional.

  • This is fucking insane!! but amazing at the same time!

  • Omar + Jools Holland + Heroin = Hilarity

  • Sucks that I never got to see them live. Oh well, I have videos on Youtube.

  • This is fucking horrible

  • I love Omar, this is fucking insane, never seen somebody rock out like that, and what he plays is just so not right, but so right!

  • How shite must it have been for the boys who started Sparta when the lead guitarist is louder than everyone else and just fucks about and doesnt really play and when he does it sounds like he is playing with his bum.

  • @binhawk lol, omar was more about doing stuff in studio than live... live he was just too high lol (he can do whatever he thinks, this dude was 60% of the essence of atdi)

  • which is the drug they take to behave like that? fucking awesome,

  • HIPnotic

  • ive watched this every day for the past week... best performance ever

  • @LegendaryWeiner It's awful.

  • @zeelasonitus so is your mother and her saggy breasts

  • @LegendaryWeiner Oh, a mum joke, you are clearly a diminutive species, take your plebeian brain elsewhere.

  • Comment removed

  • @LegendaryWeiner

Did you just insult your own mother?

  • Beautifully shambolic. Has to be the most punk thing in Jools Holland history!

  • I can't get over how pissed off Jim Ward looks. You can kinda see why Sparta and Mars Volta came of this, but at the same time, the aggression and madness makes this a really great performance, no matter how out of tune it is.

  • AAAAA sometimes thats to much energy :S

  • this is amazing!!!

  • fucking awesome

  • I fucking love how omar just quits playing, lol.

  • so much drugs :D

  • Love the fact that robbie williams was on next, in a gay ass vest singing some shite. These guys made him look like a totaly dick. good times, one of the best performances on jools holland, as this was the start of the whole talent show culture.

  • There totally lip synching

  • the tore down the hole set-up :D fuck yeah!

  • not many bands can play out of tune and still sound good .

  • Omar is on some other shit

  • either JIm or Omar is playing a wrong note... they sound weird

  • i watched this performance a thousand times i think and it always put a smile in my face when Omar says fuck the guitar and grabs the tambourine and starts dancing and singing. For most musicians thats an imminent fail but for ORL its an epic win. Jools Holland included this performance on the dvd he released of this tv show. So i guess he liked it too like we all do

  • Omar is an awesome guitar player Cedric' s interpretation is very wild I love it!

energy in this song is outstanting. ATDI may be together again!

  • i know a lot of people hate this song but its catchy as hell

n isnt music about enjoying yourself?

Clearly these lads had a good time

  • looooooool, omar so high

  • omar has gotta be one of the most fucked up but extremeley awsome guitarist ever

    LOVE IT! ATDI RULE!

  • I love ATDI and Mars Volta, but this sounds shit unless you're a fan, be honest

  • these guys should get the fuck back together. rock and roll is in need of this.

  • @FakeFlourescentSkies They still are together, it's called the Mars Volta

  • Omfg they raped that show... Its like they didnt wanted to play it and said "you know what? they want a rock band, they'll have it...

    "

  • I think Omar became a tad outta tune.

  • @Gerling007 Well spotted Sherlock

  • does no one care about the other guitarist? although to be fair, omar is pretty fuckin insane. Fantastic moves.

  • God damn, At The Drive In and The Mars Volta are WAY too amazing.

  • omar should to try this new thing called notes

  • @StickManga You should try this new thing called grammar

  • @TigrisUrsaBand emmotion and music fuels there dance

  • not their best performance by far

  • You can see what he meant when he said he didn't like the guitar sound ^^

by the way this is by far the most energic and nonsense performance of a rock band in that dutch show ^^

  • I notice Omar antics use to be more intense back in the day, I like how he swings the guitar, like he swinging a samurai sword!

  • they just fucked every other guest on that show

  • Omar is like "Fuck the guitar, I just want to dance!" at 3:10

  • Eww, man.. What shite quality.

  • DANCE CEDRIC! DANCE! He teached how dance to chuck nurris

  • "Send Transmission - One Armed Scissor!"

  • Starts off very shaky indeed, but by the end of the first chores, they pull it together nicely and play the song beautifully.

  • You cant get this sound from either of thier respected new bands. I would trade mars volta and sparta for ATDI.

  • LOLOLOLOLOLOL Pure comedy

  • lol omar fucking his spin up

  • Haha! The chair got crazy after cedric had touched it...

  • It's not about perfection, it's about stage presence.

  • oh siiiiiii

  • 3:10 Omar unleashes his guitar and then dances with a tambourine, what a guy.

  • 28 people don't know the joy of gettin' your brain electrified-shocked and fucked up with a performance by At the drive-in

  • Good god what was that? the good ones went to Sparta

  • SI NO SE HIZIERA VER TANTO PARA SOBRESALIR NO LE PASARIAN ESAS BOLUDECES CON LA GUITARRA.

    QUE PELOTUDO!

    MALIZIMOS!

  • @MALDIXIONES realmente eres un pendejo... es el sentimiento qee se tiene ademas aprende a escribir primero y luego a criticar

  • @EvanHimLP

ECSRIVO CMOO QIUERO! Y LA BANDA SIGUE SIENDO UNA PORONGA!!!

  • What happened to the guitar? I though he wasn´t those kind of guys who have 1000 same guitars so they can trash them and stuff, I though Omar played with his one and only....

  • @Delalumiere666 sebaz is gay

  • @hame707 gay

  • @studmuffsean I think they're awesome live.

And it was acid and opiates, not Heroin.

  • Comment removed

  • @bpkvids heroin is an opiate

and also Jim Ward blows, and kills this band.

  • Rage against the machine have alot to answer for...

  • Guess that's what heroin binges before the show will do to the performance

  • They sound like shit live....always did

  • this is the best live preformance ever

  • Quit ur squabbling. Sounds bloody awful and thats why this is great. Love it!!

  • Wow, youtube never ceases to amaze me. 10 pages of arguments about what is real punk based on Omar's playing in this. Hasn't it crossed your tiny brains that Omar fucked up his guitar within 3 seconds from the start? That's what happens when you trash it, it detunes itself, he even threw that guitar away cause he couldn't play it! And it spurs a debate over 'artistic choices of real punk n shit'. God damn, only on youtube.

  • Funny how every time someone breaks convetion in music people dont get it... Elvis, Hendrix, Nirvana...... but I guess alot of people dont like change.

ATDI changed music forever. They are missed.

  • This sounds fucking awesome, I'm not sure what the rest of you lot are listening too

  • great performance, there is nothin wrong with a bit of jumpin around

  • cedric sucks he should concentrate more on singing right than jumping around like a lunatic

  • @handshakesatsunrise1 ok kid go form a band and make sure you'll be better than these guys , son of a bitch

  • like how half the band is in time and the other just their crazy selfs, its a cool mix

  • Now this is stage presence :D

  • como rifa omar rodriguez y zedric

  • I like it better when the guitar is messy... it's raw and kick ass.

  • I like it hectic n raw live this ..i fkn love it actually ! Cant stand seeing a band that sounds just like the cd .

  • i was so shocked that you'd get signed making money off of your amazing songwriting talents...and destroy your own song. like that. in front of "strangers and fans"

i think it was a bad idea to impress you love a song so much. you cant

play it......cuz ur so into it. weird. but cool to somedegree but

the bad out weighs the good ..

i wouldnt pay money to see them play now. dispite my liking for there talent

it also makes me scared to sound that bad lol

i know there. greatnot this timee

  • Not a great performance here. Love the band though.

  • These are real entertainers!! The music commands them!

  • is this music?

  • the guitar player isn't even really playing for like half the song. He's just making noise :/

This is why I never went to see them or Mars Volta because I heard they suck live and if they're not even gonna try I don't need to see that.

I love their studio recordings though.

  • This sounds sloppy as fuck, but its still awesome.

  • pinche cedric hijo de la vergaaaaaaaaaaaaaa rifaaaaaaaaa cabrón hijueputa

  • ATDI are more 'punk' rock than any of you wish you'd be.

  • man omar really played like shit on this one. great performance all around tho

  • it doesent matter if they were punks or not.

they created a great music. fucking awesome !

  • 24 people skipped the 90s

  • punk died in the 80s

  • lol at people calling this punk. it's post-hardcore.

  • This is one of my favorite bands of all time.

Also - Elitist music snobs like some of the people posting here are the worst human beings alive.

  • If this kicked any more ass i'd have to set myself on fire and jump out of the window screaming......

  • just huge

  • hahah omar bent his neck soo fucking much

  • Omar al igual que Cedric estaban totalmente dopados o_O

    "so fucking beautiful"

  • @cabritox

    Aye aye captain!

  • i would love to just hear omar's sound and no one elses ... it would just be random feedback and occasional a guitar riff ..at the end he just ditches his guitar .. hahahaha

  • Ooooohhhh....scary and angry Middle Class boys !

If you want something REEAAAALLLLYYYY subversive and anti-social

    check out some Late Beethoven...x

  • @FreddieSausage Beethoven...

  • thats like the guys in the mars volta growing smaller afros or shortening their names

  • so fucking beautiful

  • Best thing to have ever happened on jools holland. Every episode since has been an anti-climax. Robbie Williams (who was on directly after this song) went into a self-imposed exhile for years as a consequence, and for that we should all be gratefull.

  • the crowd doesn't know what the fuck is going on

  • So good. Imagine being a soundman and having them just start playing hahaha.. You would have no idea what to do.

  • this just made me solo mosh pit in my room. thanks ATDI, now my room is wrecked.

  • lil out of tune...n...could of use like a bono

just in case, those were a damn jokes

  • they still manage to pull this off i remember seeing it at the time and thinking fuck that was intense , the whole performance was monsterous...especially infront of a middle class english audience...the audience were shitting their pants but you can feel the were completely hypnotized too...

  • lol this song sounds great live its just the guitarest is messing up pretty bad xD

  • That drummer has to really keep time for that kinda shit rofl

  • You should have seen Robbie Williams face when the camera panned to him afterwards. His 'how the fuck do i follow that?' face was almost as good as the ATDI performance.

  • @cordial And then, clearly shitting himself, Robbie says "Um, can my mate have his chair back please?"

  • I wish this was a higher sound quality.

I love how they play live. It puts more feeling into the song.

  • They fucked the shit out of that stage.

  • they totally took drugs before this. awsm

  • probably one of those memorable bands I've ever seen on jools holland show. punk? post hardcore? yadda yadda. it's all about the energy in this performance. new bands take note!

  • Only ATDI could've pulled this off and get away with it.

  • I'd like to see any other band bang out a song like this on television

  • hahaa cedrics gtfo look at omar 0:30

  • One of the greatest punk bands of the past couple of decades

  • As cool as this actually sounds on repeat viewings, I would have to disagree with the commenters who describe this as "real punk rock". This is not punk rock nor anything like it. I dont know what the hell this is but punk rock it is not. Listen to the original punk rock bands from the UK and you will find no similarity. I would describe this as experimental/thrash metal. None of the punk elements are there. This is coming from someone who thought this was good too!

  • @philbateman1989 definitely not thrash metal, but i agree it isn't punk. i would define this as post-hardcore

  • omar fucking sucks

  • @12gaugeG smfh.....it's LIVE.....u should know they don't give a fuck how they play live....listen to mars volta's records genius

  • @somuch4freedom i have bro and omar dont sound this shitty......i could play better then this shit no matter how much smack i shot up

  • Comment removed

  • @somuch4freedom

Hate to say it, but John Frusciante played guitar on almost every TMV album, and Flea played bass on nearly every song on Deloused (by far their best)

  • @hry4grblz lol....u seriously are an idiot....seriously

  • 3:11 "either work of fucking die"

  • Fu*k the CHAIR!!!!!!!!!!

  • theres always a fine line between something being out of control and art. this is art.

a total exception. this isnt ur typical performance to catch the eye.

  • holy fuck, what a disaster.

  • lmao I think the drummer is the only one that stays in beat a bit :D

This is just great.. this was one of my favorite songs at guitar hero and now its coming to rock band 3!! <3.

It's my favorite for sure now.

  • their like the only band that can fuck up but can still pull it off ADTI forever!!!!

  • You know it's a good rock show when you don't feel threatened by the crowd, but by the band themselves.... so awesome.

  • More energy than a million of today's bands. Sheer anarchy.

  • An almost comedic performance. Shame the videos of this on Youtube are cut too short...as the best bit is where it showed Robbie Willams' face as he has to sing his crappy piano ballad right after this...hilarious.

  • @panfart I believe the line was : "Can my mate have is chair back?" :D

  • @panfart i noticed that on the programme too!!! made me laugh!!

  • Just got played on Jools Holland's best of. That's a performance.

  • ...and then picking a tambourine up. true comedy :D

  • omar throwing his guitar away is INCREDIBLE

  • this gave birth to the mars volta, amen.

  • i'd want my money back.

  • i dont think its fucked up i think its fucked up and its awesome. they don't seem to care they know it sounds crazier than usaul, fuck it they still rock

  • now i get it,, for this kidn of shit, the other guy make sparta xD.. i think theres a interview where he talks shit about at the drive in ..
