  • This nigga jus nasty wid it

  • @TheMusician29 have you possibly created a new genre? nigga nasta? that will catch on. for eg. yo man, yo playn' is nigga nasta; almost niggatastic. i will give you thumbs up for giving me that idea.

  • AHHHH stop doing close ups on his face so i can see what he's playing and learn it for myself lol

  • my nigga is a beast

  • wow right on bro

  • dude your comment was un called for..... realy its a sterotype not all AFRICAN AMERICANS are the same!

  • i hav a different perspective for blacks. great job man!!! i thought all blacks listen to that crap rap. u kno....... this is why im hott, this is why im hott... and on and on. lol. this is real music. anyone with a hav a brain can do wht these rapper do.

  • @21ryrunner, That's because you watch too much TV. We are not all like what you see on TV as you now know..lol

  • @21ryrunner Wow... Your a narrow minded bafoon. Blacks created jazz music so we were ever making real music. Not all blacks listen to rap music thats just a stupid stereotype.

  • @lightbrown95 i have not seen on black man play a guitar in my life. i have seen one on the internet though; BBking. when is the last time you have seen a black man play a guitar on like vh1 or mtv? sry i just dont see what you are talkin about. it cant be a sterotype when i have not witnessed it; at least to me. lol. and because whites have invented and almost done everything first i bet that it is augueable on who invented jazz.

  • @21ryrunner HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

  • @21ryrunner well then you seem young and uniformed that was a very ignorant statement. the reason why you have never seen this is because the the media gives you the picture what "Blacks" are like. and it shows a decietful picture. probaly never seen a "black person in person let alone see him play a guitar.we have been here for thousands of years before you, We did Everything first, from science and medicine to math. dark skinned people create the guitar long ago it was called al oud or lute.

  • @21ryrunner and also the best musicians are of west african descent just think we been making music since music could be played . we created all types of music including jazz, blues/rock. jimi hendrix the best guitar of his time and ours, buddy guy, this guy your looking at. you should look into the history innovation and influence we brought to america

  • @FLpolo whatever you say, kanye. i pretty sure the only influence that america was interested in was that of which it came from, europe. like i said earlier, whites where the first to do everything, so it's probably augeable who inventd jazz and what not. u make it sound like blacks were the only one whom knew what music was. ever since people were able to hit sticks together u had a beat with music. lol

  • @lightbrown95 Blacks created jazz, but it did not just pop out of a vacuum. It borrowed many things from European harmony. Monk himself attended Juliard.

  • This man is such a fine guitar player and a great musician. Why this conversation ever has to become a black this and white that......I don't get it.

  • when I feel like giving up, I play this vid (or other with Jairus) and I'll be perked up again. such an inspiring person and play.

  • is there anyway i could learn these chords on bass w0w

  • Where are all you metal guitarist now? Dude will blow em out of the water!

  • haha

  • That's exactly right. It's not about tapping, but melody smooth fluid interpretations of the music, played the way it should be done on a piano, but better.

  • @chitozyme Jairus can play metal if he want. But metal guitarist can not play this..

  • @thiagodrums1 Sorry but that is a gross over generalization.

  • @chitozyme

Metal guitarist are stuck in their genre forever. The only thing that saved myself was Eddie Hazel.

  • Whoaaaaaaaa!!!

  • what is the name of tha song he plays on his acoustic, first song

  • Comment removed

  • What kind of tuning pegs are those?? thanks.

  • well thats it for me....im chopping my guitars up. Geebus dude you can play..

  • IDK, WHAT TREE DID THAT WOOD COME FROM?

  • For those of you wondering about that sick lick at 7:30 ... It was just perfect fourths moving in parallel motion. Chick Corea and many other Jazz greats used to do the same.

  • hey c´mon teach some shit..... u mofos!

  • Learn chords... this guys chord knowledge is ridiculously vast. Where the heck do I start?!

  • the RnB n then starting from 2:07 until the beginning of the funk was on some chill type shit..i can digg it

  • man, that guy is the truth....Pretty nasty

  • 7:30 is pure magic

  • is that a fender strat?

  • Yeah, Deluxe American I think, HSS as you can see, had no idea he used Strats for Jazz.

  • Scratch that, American SPECIAL HSS, it's mahogany so don't expect traditional Strat tone.

  • My new favorite youtube guitarist. This guy is music

  • Unfortunately the other guy doesn't seem incredibly knowledgeable, comparing "sound quality" between a Strat and an Ovation? Crackhead. Not to be a hater but Jairus is really the only genius there.

  • the guy in the interview is a keyboard player so im sure he wouldnt know much about guitar

  • I was just hoping he would say something a little more insightful.

I mean, "You need to know where to put da chords."

Doesn't help at all, it's completely vague and anyone who didn't even play a musical instrument could have figured that out. He could have gone more in depth, I mean.

  • i understand

  • Dude,,,The Guy doing the interview is A SICk Piano player...!!!!....Seriously

  • Read my other post, even if he was the greatest composer of all time his speaking as completely useless, (at least to me) I mean no disrespect, but "You need to know where to put da chords." Really? And directly comparing Ovation acoustics to Strats is not a very fair comparison, honestly.

  • Yeap, some of the greatest players are terrible teachers. Simple as that!

  • Its a half hour to 40 minute interview about Jairus' coming up on the guitar. He can't go into the very specifics about chord placement here. That's what Jairus's instructional video is for. When he mentions the differences in guitars, its for the person watching the video who may not know, not for him.

  • ....There is someone out there who couldn't guess how an acoustic guitar would sound compared to a solid-body electric? Wow.

  • do u know where to find vids of him? his name? thanks!!

  • Yeah, Jesus, you're fucking retarded for two reasons.

    1) Your watching a vid of him, moron.

    2) HIS NAME IS IN THE TITLE DIPSHIT,

  • Easy, now. That's mean.

  • Yeah I know, he's being too ignorant though and if I act like a huge douche maybe he won't repeat it.

  • I was talkin about the guy giving the interview. He's a keyboard player thats really good. Maybe I should've been more specific but I figure its obvious I know who's on the guitar. thanks anyway though.

  • Whats his name??? You know where to find clips of him??

  • his name is Jonathan Powell. He is the instructor for Hear and Play Urban Keys Pro 600. Just check hearandplay and search for clips of him.

  • Thanks man!! I appreciate it

  • I like this guy, he's cool and he has insane music theory and great chops.

  • does he have perfect pitch?

  • nope...real good relative

  • wow!!!!! if that is true, than that is really inspiring to me! I have hope now...i've been playing for a couple years, and get discouraged when i see a display of motion like you have...lol i have relative pitch myself...

  • what's the name of the song at 2:12, th one you did on both guitars? thanx

  • dudes chord library is crazy and just his overall theory is amazing

  • That boy nice!

  • One word. Damn!

  • This Guy Is The Bomb Dawg!!!!!!!!

  • To all those who disrespect this lad you are just plain old ignorant or even maybe racist? The guy has true feel whic you cant learn - you either got it or you aint. There is a mix of blues jazz rockabilly and country to this piece. Those who cant appreciate his talent should not even bother to watch

  • LMAO 7:29.......Dis Boi is NASTY!!!

  • the camera man sucks, u cant even see the chords he playin...lol

  • Great, lovley playing

  • This cat knows his chords and scales.... makes all the difference in the world.

  • man it sounds great.

  • thats me in 2 more years god willing

  • Hey muddy waters. Jurvis is young and I don't see no attitude. I see someone having fun, and he didn't have to share his funk on you tube. He shared his gift with no price. And the so called idiot, well that's questionable.

It sound like you are the only one who is going to buy his music.Jarvis should write a guitar song. Muddywaters lick these...n!

  • I don't care if you wear your hat on your ass. Man for a young buck, you are gifted. I decided to play guitar to ease my mind. I'm in my fiftys, and I have a natural little somethin for playing guitar. What should be my main focus, and what is a good beginning book. Or what should beginner know first

  • Man...you are a great inspiration for me...only I dont wish to play for prince...I just wish to play for God with all my soul...

  • HELP PLEASE!!! I'm looking to purchase a guitar and i'm wondering which kind of Fender guitar can achieve this sound? What kind of pickups? Would a regular Fender Strat work without the humbucker pickups? Thanx in advance

  • get any fender strat with a whammy bar, just make sure u have a morley volume pedal, boss effects a mesa bogi longstar amplifier and u should be pretty close.

  • ive never heard a sound like this before.

  • warm and phfat.

  • This Is Nice, sings what he's playing, JUST LISTEN TO HIS VOICE WHILE HIS PLAYING!

  • that modal lick he played at 7:30 was hot

keep it up! now i really have to buy a guitar and begin learning

  • yea you right, 7:30 was hot

  • I think it was wholetone.

  • thanks for the correction bro

  • No, it was perfect fourths going up in minor 3rds.

  • men your style is so fucking cool

most of your licks and tricks I can figure out but after a while I thought fuck it men:P really cool! someone told me to listen your shit! And I'm glad I've heard it! are you schooled? peace and Keep it up

  • wow such tasty playing....jaw dropping:P

  • jair can u post some chords homie? also this what im talkin bout musically.good soul!

  • Jairus....Man u sick!

  • no cure can heal him

  • Makes it look so effortless. now that's a true player. ; )

  • love the playing. where did you learn your licks and theory? from records or did you take any formal lessons or you self taught, because you really have some nice jazz licks

  • he went to school for this since he was young, and his father played too

  • do you know what school he went to?

  • dang you is to freaking sweet when you gone come down and show me some stuff

  • I want to see more of this guy!!! Love the tone out of the Lonestar.

  • Wonderful stuff. I want to know what Acoustic/electric guitar that was he used.

  • Pretty good equipment, nice harsh sound - full of feeling/emotion:

The Electro-acoustic is an Ovation CE model of some kind I would imagine...it is *really* affordable compared to his solid body electric - Fender American Stratocaster Deluxe (again some sort of custom ((non-stock)).

I would like to know the exact model on the Ovation myself

  • I've been playing for over 20 years. I wasn't serious about my playing. Since I saw the kat, my motivation has increased along with my skills. I really appreciate this post and hope one day of jamming with ya! You are one of the baddest and smoothest dude I ever seen. Keep it up man

  • I get a good vibe going listening to your playing jairus, thanks for sharing.....hog~~

  • what was the name of that slow song he was playing right after the interview

  • I think it's Play Misty For Me or at least it's a bit close to it.
