Music is a form of art. Art is a form of expression of the creators emotions (in most cases). As this is their creation they should enjoy it and there will also be others that enjoy it. In most cases, when a well known artist (eg. Lady Gaga) makes a new song, MAJORITY of the people who listen to it enjoy it. Some artists like Sunn O))) like to experiment with sound to make new music to show a NEW way of expressing their form of art, music. You should connect with music, not judge.

After reading through the comment section, I've come to the realization that the only people who like this garbage are people on drugs. It's 6 minutes of the exact same dissonant white noise chord with some wierd ominous chant and it makes absolutely no sense. Drone Metal has NOTHING to do with death metal ! Drone metal is more scary and frightening (try listening while being stoned or tripping on something), death metal is more violent and brutal (not necesarely scary).
@doom696mented I'd say they can both be scary, but in different ways. They're like horror films - brutal death metal are like gore-fests whereas drone and some black metal are psychological horrors.

I could indeed. It was done on a small DV cam, so the low quality is there. But If I started to tweak it I would end up re-cutting or wanting to re film. Which at this stage is not a good idea or option. Thank you for your comment. If I ever did something like this again I would super 8 it.

as someone who has dabbled just a little bit in making experimental music, I can say that this isn't random crap. there is a cohesive idea here, the sounds complement each other well. the only thing I didn't like was the "voice", only cuz I associated it with sort of grindcore vocal (or a deranged orc), and as I took it in this context it detracted from the expression, but maybe that's just cuz of my experience altering my perception. drone is good, push the boundaries of music
I still don't quite get why this is metal, sure, there may be influences, but there are no vocal lines, no riffs, no drums no bass guitar, no structure... not to say it's bad, but it's basically just very heavy, dark ambient music.
People seem to want things out of music. If you want something to cheer you up and make you feel bright and sparkly, you'll listen to pop, 'happy hardcore', or something of the sort. If you want something to rile you up and give you energy to thrash around and elbow people in the face to, you'll listen to speed metal, thrash metal, etc. Drone is for when you want to evoke a mood without having to pay attention, without distracting melodies and such.
I think drone metal is a completly different thing and since it is a very hard type of music to get into, but don't get me wrong i love drone metal, i think people are more afraid of a different type of music then a nuclear bomb attack or something i just say sit back relax and enjoy

I disagree. I think it comes off as more suited for a genre of noise or something within electronic music, but ultimately it is metal. It's technical a sub-genre of doom metal, doom metal being "more metal" than drone metal.

I could indeed. It was done on a small DV cam, so the low quality is there. But If I started to tweak it I would end up re-cutting or wanting to re film. Which at this stage is not a good idea or option. Thank you for your comment. If I ever did something like this again I would super 8 it.

Fact: Metal started out as heavily distorted blues music. Black Sabbath started metal, and the doom genre ;) They started playing it out of their oppressive lives in industrial estates in England. Depressive and oppressive. This is the origins of heavy metal.

as someone who has dabbled just a little bit in making experimental music, I can say that this isn't random crap. there is a cohesive idea here, the sounds complement each other well. the only thing I didn't like was the "voice", only cuz I associated it with sort of grindcore vocal (or a deranged orc), and as I took it in this context it detracted from the expression, but maybe that's just cuz of my experience altering my perception. drone is good, push the boundaries of music

I still don't quite get why this is metal, sure, there may be influences, but there are no vocal lines, no riffs, no drums no bass guitar, no structure... not to say it's bad, but it's basically just very heavy, dark ambient music.

My thoughts on Sunn and drone in general:
People seem to want things out of music. If you want something to cheer you up and make you feel bright and sparkly, you'll listen to pop, 'happy hardcore', or something of the sort. If you want something to rile you up and give you energy to thrash around and elbow people in the face to, you'll listen to speed metal, thrash metal, etc. Drone is for when you want to evoke a mood without having to pay attention, without distracting melodies and such.

I disagree. I think it comes off as more suited for a genre of noise or something within electronic music, but ultimately it is metal. It's technical a sub-genre of doom metal, doom metal being "more metal" than drone metal.
