The priest Jonathan Walsh was my grandfather and he passed away in Dec 2007 he was a great man. An extra in a few movies but this was his first and only speaking part. It feels good to be able to watch this and read the comments so please don't take it down. Thank u.

Some people just don't care about good movies... many people rated this movie as boring and a waste of time... First of all NOT EVERY MOVIE is suppose to be action packed like Terminator or Die Hard.. I dont know why so many people dislike SAD MOVIES. I like sad movies, people dont want to see them because they got enough of sadness in their real life so they want to escape the boring sad life.. well, i like to watch movies that show real life also, not only sci-fi or action and comedy movies.

That was so well said, and I completely agree. I love movies that are real, and unfortunately, what's real and truthful is sad many times. This is one of my favorite films because it's so honest and beautiful. The acting is superb and the plot is timeless. They certainly don't make 'em like this anymore.

this is an amazing film, i was soo pissed that nick stahl had to die so early, and than on top of all that nick stahl was basically thee only one not nominated for an oscar in this film, everyone else in the film was but him, dont get me wrong i love sissy,tom and marisa. even though it was a short role he still gave his all in the short role, therefore he should of been nominated. im sooo shocked nick stahl and michael shannon havent won oscars yet! even leo dicaprio!

This is terribly sad. First of all, great acting. Second, you can see the priest is trying in the best way he can to help Ruth, but his words have no consoling effect on her at all.
