This isn't salt-water. This is fresh water. What if someone has a cut on their toes, then throw in the algae, then let the next person put their toes and algae into the same tank. The shit is NOT SAFE. And "We do lots of research - we talk to lots of people." Listen, one or two fish pedicures to a few individuals is not a big deal. But if you get 20 or 30 people dipping their toes into this cesspool, disease will spread. Then people will complain that "they" let it happen to the public.

And of course it isn't saltwater, these fish would not survive in saltwater. But, I don't see what difference dirty and clean saltwater makes with dirty and clean freshwater.

@XKokeAndSoupX - Thanks for the civil response. It's really about regulation. Say the woman wants to sell her homemade meatloaf in the lobby. We've never heard of a meatloaf epidemic. But we can't just let people go around selling their meatloaf to the general public without regulation. Staph infection is running rampant these days; people pick up blights from lakes and streams all the time. Though salt-water may be more sanitary, this is like sharing the same bath water over and over!

@anotherfoolonthehlLL I do agree with regulating the fish treatment industry. Sanitation checks and fish health condition checks should be done, but not so frequently to the point where it becomes harassment. However, just banning the whole industry? That's going a bit far.

Very informative video. I learned about the fish and that while a good idea I would have to leave the state to get this service. Sad story. Is the fee market really free, or are Americans living in a fantasy? Makes you wonder, if the free market is not really free, maybe our so called Republic is only that on paper.

the real problem the government sees with the fishes id hygiene. If tens of people use the fishes for pedicure, skin diseases might spread. But I believe the answer is not banning but screening and feet sanitation before the pedicure.

I worked at Kims when we first got the sigh. The board was scared of the fish spreading MRSA. Let me tell you, I had my hands in those tanks day in and out for feeding and testing the water, I havent caught a thing. We also used my hands as examples, my right hand was SOOOO soft and my left had was a little rough. Guess which hand was going in that tank. There is NO reason for this to not be allowed. The board was upset because of compatation!!!

On the other hand, I once had a Bacon Burger (the patty was made from pressed, chopped bacon) and it actually wasn't that good. It didn't really taste like bacon, to tell you the truth.
Now that I think about it, every time I have an "exotic" burger (I've has ostrich burgers, boar burgers, deer burgers, etc), I've been disappointed.
Gimme a good 'ol cow burger any day!
I've never tried a bacon hot dog thoug. I like to think I have an open mind...

Wearing a seatbelt is not mandatory but a fish pedicure is dangerous? Residents of a neighboring state will move to their new state and pass laws that restrict rights or raise taxes which is why they left their home state in the first place. IL did it to IN and IA just like NY, MA, & CT have done to NH. I've also seen Californians try to do it Nevada.
