This car like many other Toyota screams boring. TOYOTA WAKE UP your ignoring a huge part of the market for people who like driving cars. Here's my advice to Toyota. Go get a Kia optima and take a good long hard look what an affordable but fun car is like. When i go into this market Toyota is last on my list.
I'm disappointed in toyota. With stiff competition like the 2012 hyundai sonata or new kia optima (that blows this camry away) I would think toyota would step it up with the redesign. But Toyota fell short, the new camry is bland. I'm actually glad the competition is starting to sell more because in the past toyota oversaturated the market and every street corner you turned there was 10 toyota camrys. ridiculous.
Quite amazing how the interior has improved so much. That was the major gripe with the former model, cheapish American quality. Now has changed to true Japanese quality. Powertrains were more than adequate - the 4 banger is smooth and frugal while the 3.5 will outrun many so-called "sport cars" out there.
all you kia and hyundai lovers why do you always compare camry to cheap ass cars, Im not a camry fan but i know enough history about cars. hyundai and kia just started buidling good looking cars but not reliable and camrys this is the 6th generation so thats should tell you all the info about camry that its build good plus its a family sedan not a sports car so please do some research before write dumb comments... i actually test drove a camry and its really nice again im not a camry lover
@tdh0230 I can't mention everything but you'll notice I always shoot the area where back vents (and power port) would be so a view can figure it out on their own. It's like the shot of the interior where I show that there's a tilt/telescope wheel. I show it but don't talk about it. Call it video shorthand.
They did not listen to Camry buyers. Let's hammer down the final nail on your argument on all new 2012 Camry. Here is what the major car critics say about the 2012 Camry, watch?v=UL-s19SxFtg&feature=relmfu.
If you buy a Camry buy the SE model. I'm sure the Camry still isn't better than the Accord though since now they are doing a revamp with it again look-out..KIA Optima and its brother the Sonata are good cars too but do they have what it takes possibly.. GM please lost cause they don't make good cars anymore they just don't know what they are doing. Everyone one else seem to be doing A-ok..so it seems
they listened and didn't change the size! I wish Honda would have followed that advice, I loved my 05 Accord, this current gen is nice, but it's a bloated looking car....doesn't look 'sport" anymore
I am yawning at this moment while watching this video, this car is so dull looking. This car is so uninspiring it does not even look like a new car. In fact the outgoing model looks better and its ugly. I really wish they would discontinue this car I am so tired of people driving these stupid looking vehicles.
I've lost faith with Toyota after owning a 09 Matrix, very disappointed with the quality and refinement. Besides, the previous Camry was too big for my driving in the city.
And can you tell us which family sedan is a better choice? In terms if gas millage, ride, comfort and all the standard features you should get, oh and price.
Also tell us when is the 2013 Altima will arrive as well as the 2013 Accord
@jvrdlc Ride quality quality and design I'll leave up to your personal choice, you should test drive them if you're thinking about buying. Price? Sonata or Optima. Standard features? Depends on model. Honestly, the best way to find what's right for you is to drive them and then do a "build and price" on their websites. They are all VERY good these days.
Can't tell you about the Altima and Accord, info is embargoed until after Detroit. I'm driving Malibu this weekend. Review coming...
@DrivenCarReviews thank you sir. i like the sonata, but i saw a blog from Consumer Reports about the Sonata Turbo pulling to the right. did you notice any difference? it was also mentioned from Hyundai that they were going to fix the problem. they recommended the 4cyl only.
but i have a question on the Optima. and im not saying i know it, but it looks like the car is too heavy for the tires its got. do you think the car will handle good in the snow with a good set of winter tires?
@jvrdlc I did not notice excessive torque steer, there's a little but that's expected from a powerful front drive car.
Not sure what you mean by too heavy for the tires it has. Optima could use a little more grip, the tires aren't super sticky in hard cornering. That's a job for Tire Rack.
No reason why it wouldn't do well with winter tires, most people don't install them. The ground clearance might be a little low but with traction control and Blizzak tires, things should be good.
i really like the new interior, much better than the bland outgoing model. this one has a lot more. but again, its not that stylish specially if you compare it to the Sonata or Optima. but the rest is great, now best in class fuel economy on the hybrid. The Altima is coming soon with the new redesign, and the Accord as well. i will wait and see how the others are going to come out. then ill decide which Family sedan to buy.
@neptoon08 look yes, but long term reliability and reputation. the Camry ftw.
u dont buy a car bc it looks good boy. look at the overall package. The optima looks stunning and might have 100k warranty. but you see more Toyotas out there, and the really tried to make this car more appealing. ill take this Hybrid over any other car so far.
@jvrdlc yes its true you don't buy a car based on looks but looks has a big part in deciding on which car to buy. Also kia are also reliable my mom has a 2007 sportage with almost 80000 miles and she never has had any problems with it.
@neptoon08 im not sayin kia hasnt been reliable. i know they are now. nd prob consumers are aware of that. they are building up confidence by making great cars. but you no how it is. when u talk to some1 and ask them. would you buy a Toyota or a Kia, they will say toyota. thats qhat most consumers think. because again, the reputation they build it for a long time. i like the new Kias and Hyundais. i think they look great, plus im considering buying a Elantra over the Corolla and Civic
love your reviews. The Camry is really made for the old people (no offence). And the bullet proof reputation is getting old (now most manufacturers cars are well built). Keep up the great work.
I can't see too many "old" people doing 0-60 in 6 seconds, caring about Entune, or using the rev matching paddle shifters, all of which the Camry SE V6 has. That is a pretty aggressive car that will outperform its turbo 4 competitors that have the zig zag tacky styling. Give me one of these over the others any day. It ain't just for the old folks anymore, although there is a model or two for them as well.
people who hates on Camry are people with an iq of less than 70 or Hyundai-Kia owns who cant afford the real thing

the 2012 camry SE V6 is fast, smooth, quiet and the handling is much better.
so unless you actually test drove the new camry se v6, youre basing your opinion on that old fluffy le model.
so shut the fuck up and drive the new camry SE V6 before you talk shit.

So, Toyota stepped back to Gen5 look in their Gen7 car. Yawn. At least the interior seems to be better. I think that Gen3/Gen4 were the best ones.
