It appeared the Holy Father intended to kiss the feet of the corpus, but he appeared a bit off balance and seemed to me to stop short to prevent him and the crucifix from toppling. Our "Papa" is in remarkably good shape for a man his age, but let's face it, he's not a young man any more. I'm certain his reduced physical faculties are part of his "cross" that he bears.
Lord, continue to bless and strengthen your Vicar on earth, Benedict XVI. Amen.

@gman26722 the reality is that the crucifix could have been put reclined on a table, so that he could reach it, they didn't want to because whether you like it or not what is lacking in the Catholic Church especially coming from Rome is lack of reverence.
Excusing things that are obvious doesn't help the reality that we face The Catholic Church beginning from the Hierarchy in Rome is lacking faith and the proper reverence once given to Our Lord.
