  • err..XH855 lmao!

  • Restored by the RAF? WRONG!

  • what a spanner its xh558

  • he got it wrong :O

    not XH855 xD

    thank god its back

  • @Terrorbore How could u possibly get it wrong?

  • @daleksec245 the reporter called it XH855, when its XH558 :P

  • @Terrorbore what a wally!

  • It is amazing that it takes a war or threat of war to kick this country in the backside and build something so graceful and beautiful. I'd love to see it open the olympics. It shows that when the british feel like it we can achieve greater things. That is not to say any other country does not achieve achieve equally or surpass the british. This statement is aimed at british people.

  • I was there on the day... id been waiting for months and when i finally saw the old girl lift off it made me proud to be british!

& by the way... screw the carbon footprint!

  • Well said :D

  • Carbon foot print my arse! Worth 6m to restore? HELL YES - worth every penny. Its the people who flew this great plane back in the cold war who helped win the cold war and the reason we still speak English and NOT Russian. This about that you leftists and you know where you can stick your carbon footprints.

  • It cost near 7 million.

    Get your facts right.

  • Ditto! Immagine if the Carbon footprint brigade had been in power during the Cold War?

  • A great day for vulcan lovers, Concorde next?

  • For sure!

  • Hmm... Concorde... flanked by a Victor, Vulcan, Valiant and a Lightening...

    Enough to make me emotional!

  • Roy chadwick designed the Vulcan, he came from my home town of Widnes

  • Shame that xl 391 could never fly

  • GREAT GREAT GREAT loved this plane since i was a child/love it

  • I was there! and what a sight, as soon as she lifted everything went slow motion for me.

  • Magnificent! To see this lovely old lady take off again was lump in the throat stuff. I grew up very close to the Avro factory at Woodford, and to see Vulcans at such close range on a daily basis was something our family took for granted. Great to see her again!!

  • Thanks for uploading this...... I can't view sky news... Regards

  • I was lucky to see the vulcan fly at an air show near cardiff many years ago, i will never forget all the car alarms going off, and all the kids running around crying,so happy she,s back where she belongs, full respect to the people who have put so much hard work into getting this babe airborne,

  • fantasic to see xh558 back into the sky where she's belongs. now lets hope we can see concorde flying again one day.

  • Simply Awsome and BRITISH cant wait to see it

  • "Restored by the RAF"? Blimey, get your facts right Sky!

  • and XH855 :S

  • There is NOTHING like hearing (and feeling) that plane taking off. Can't wait for the return of car parks full of car alarms going off at the airshows!

  • Super Video! Thanks

  • well i watched it on bbc westmidlands thanks to my sky box.. nice piece with Archive footage .. dont knock it if you dont know how to use the system.

  • Fantastic, just fantastic. I'm looking foward to seeing her flying again as it's been many, many years since I've seen XH558 scream itself into the skies. Well done to all that donated and to those that did the work.

  • I agree I live next the airfield so saw this, Fantastic achivement, for one I thought they would never achive this. But NOTHING on the BBC, Not even on BBC Midlands !!!, Just articles about dog fighting and people dressing up a santa !!!, Well the BBC don't do much to make me worry about thier Job cuts which had a huge feature on the national news.

This project could do with the publicity.

BBC hang your head in shame.

    Actually No BBC YOU SUCK

  • Two thumbs up !

  • bring on the airshows.........my poor little 4 year old is now gonna require new ear duffs :-)

  • Simply Amazing :D

  • Its really great to see her up there where she belongs - all the hard work work has paid off. Well done everybody

  • I worked for "Broadie" Broadhurst C-in-C Bomber Command as a very lowly Airman doing National Service from 1956 to 1958 when it came into Service.!! Wow. ! What a day today ?? That lovely NOISE of the engines ! Frightened the life out of the Russians and General Curtis LeMay of SAC. Yes, Money was very well spent.

SAC Neal 2783515.. Sir! (Then I got Ten Bob wages)

  • BBC far too busy whining about losing their jobs. With this attitude it's very hard to have any sympathy. Bunch of arrogant tossers.

  • Good work by all involved!! I saw the very last flight of XH558 back in 1993, it bought a tear to my eye back then and seeing her restored and flying once more has done the same agan today.

    Well done by all!!

  • F**king excellent. The BBC should hang their head in shame for ignoring this historic event. Made an old man very happy...

  • Get in their... well done to all at. and well done to UKAR for keeping us up to date.. BBC done nowt.

  • Woo!
