@80spodcastchannel this was a while ago - I think there were some labelling issues about the vitamin content temporarily around the time I made this - it meant you couldn't import it without a special licence. They probably changed things to enable import since then.
I eat Marmite and Toast. And I drink Oceans of Tea. I don't eat meat or drink alcohol. Can you think of any other requirements before I am officially a "Brit"? : )
I'm an American, and I like a little bit of Marmite on my toast! I guess that means I'm a Brit now! Yay!!! Nice video. I like the way you really take it seriously and have a lot to say. You are a good "Taster". -Brian
xmournerslament - us Americans can get marmite and vegemite in specialty stores. its very hard. ive gotten marmite, and its very good, if you like salty things. good with cheese and bread.
That's a lot of videos! I think he is preserving his image for when he gets famous and esteemed as a national treasure - he doesn't want to be sullied by stuff like this!
Wtf, vegemite rocks :] A lot nicer the Promite, dunno if thats in England but still, seems very... english. ANd I hate it so much. That stuff looks lyk melted chocolate... :P
I remember trying Vegemite as a child - it was foul. I think it has less salt or something. So I'm wondering whether or not to try the guinness marmite. I've been put off the squeezy marmite because that is apparently very runny.
People who don't like marmite have either used too much when they were spreading it or have eaten it with the wrong thing e.g rivita.
Guinness Marmite was actually a LOT nicer than Vegemite (there's something strange about the taste of Vegemite to me too, perhaps it's the type of vegetable extract they use in it.)
Vegemite actually isn't illegal in the US. That story was due to a misinformed Australian newspaper that blew the story out of proportion. As far as I know, you can still buy Vegemite at some places, although most people don't carry it.
Ah. Thought it might be an exaggeration. The story revolved around something to do with the added iron didn't it? I did notice on the ingredients list that the Guinness version seemed not to have the added vitamins/minerals that traditional stuff had. Wonder if it's a prototype for the international market. They are trying to convert people to the yeast extract!
I think I will probably stick with original Marmite in the long-term - but I have a massive jar of the Guinness stuff to to get through. That will probably take me several years (it's something best used in moderation).
Vegemite was never banned over here...that was only a rumour.

Promite is best, then Vegemite, Marmite comes last IMO.
Apparently marmite in the UK tastes different than in Aus though, I should order some
1CaptainAustralia1 9 months ago
@1CaptainAustralia1 Over here Vegemite has an odd vegetably taste that Marmite doesn't. Marmite needs to be spread very thinly indeed.

I just tried Marmite two days ago and I really like it! Now I crave it too... Even got Mum to try it and she liked it! Cheers, from Texas!

Marmite originates from Guinness anyway, they used to scrape the black yeast gunk from the bottom of guinness barrels= Marmite!!
the guinness one does taste nicer i agree. Theyve come out with a black labeled extra strong one now, yum!!

That's a shame. I think doing things like this shows alot of humility and that's a characteristic in people that I greatly admire.
It was indeed alot of videos - worth it though. I laughed out loud on several occasions.
Take care.
