  • I've had mine for so many years now. Got it while lifting furniture or groceries after carrying a long, skinny, slightly jaundiced 9-pound bouncing baby boy. The biggest part of it is the burning pain I get when I try to lift anything heavier than 50 pounds. Love to get it done but some reason waiting lists are over 10 years here in Canada…

  • @laughlane wow waiting list 10 years? When I went to surgeon, he stated that these need to be taken care of right away, because the more you tear the breach, the more internal organs portrude, and you run the risk of your bowels getting tangled up, then they have to remove bowel. When the breach first occurs, its just fat, and all they had to do is put one permanent stitch in to fix. Later on, it requires a mesh patch under the muscle, and its more invasive.

  • @freakysideshow: Not to bore you with particulars but mine is same size yet slightly above navel so I imagine they'll be able to make the incision in the navel and sew it right up. It hasn't changed since I noticed it so I guess I'm just lucky. Glad you caught yours before it got worse. (I'm also lucky because I've got family to help out with the heavy lifting while I wait for the operation.)

  • @freakysideshow, how did you get your hernia? I'm not sure if I got mine in the gym or after one very, very large meal.

  • @NennadS True Story: I got emotionally upset over something someone did, became severely constipated for several days, wound up straining too hard, and gave myself a hernia. Sucks when I think about it. All I would of had to do is take a good laxative during this period of emotional disturbance. Instead I stuck it out because I was too embarassed to go to the doctor and talk about it. I should be on television on "World's Dumbest."

  • @freakysideshow This might be my case too, I don't remember actual moment when I got it, it was just there one day. I remember that once I ate so much that my abdomen was hard as a rock. Maybe I had constipation too, can't remember.

I should also be on "World's Dumbest".

  • I have something very similar, but surgeon told me not to sly whole pig for 1 kilo of meat. :)

They don't think that operation is necessary. One question: Do they put biodegradable mesh, or permanent mesh? Do they cut hernia sac, or just put it back in stomach?

    That's two questions. :)

  • @NennadS depends on whether or not its just fat or bowell if they tuck it or cut it

  • i g for my surgery on the 10th of sept. im a little nervous how was thw pain after and how long before your back to regular activities???

  • @cycoberry Dont worry about it. As surgeries go, it is almost painless. When you wake up, you will be comfortable. They will send you home with vicoden or if youre lucky oxycodone (percosets). You will be walking around your house slowly the day of surgery, in a week or so you will just be waiting for the scab and glue to fall off, its a good time to take a couple weeks off work. You will be fine, try not to think about it. I took a xanax the night before for anxiety and that helped.

  • @freakysideshow ok cool !! I've a surgery for my deviated septum and that was two weeks of hell worst pain i ever felt i guess it tramatized me i was taking vico's but they made me dizzy but when i would stop taking them the pain was too unbarable but i guess i gotta just get it over with!!! so did your belly button return to its normal state?? i just want my belly back so it dont look like an alien popping out!! hahahaha thanks for the info bro!!!

  • @cycoberry My belly button doesnt look excactly like it did before, but I go to the pool at a campground I belong to and my closest friends didnt notice anything at all after the glue/scab fell out. It looks different to me, but not to other people, there are so many configurations of belly buttons out there I dont think anyone will notice at all, but you might a little just cause you know what it looked like before.

  • @freakysideshow Got my surgery Friday, And While operating the Dr. found a 2nd hernia wich he fixed as well,But man im sore, im afraid to have bowell movement because it feels like i might tear something, But what i wanted to ask you was did you bruise around the incision? And how long do you think befors i can go tuna fishing????lol

  • I have the exact looking bellybutton looks like i need that surg. as well it doesnt hurt just feels strange and wierd.

  • Mine was a little pocket of fat, with a hole the size of a pencil. It didn't hurt, and when I laid down at night, it would go back in. Doesn't hurt to go have a consult and let the doctor look at it - Russ

  • @freakysideshow yeah went soon after my reply and he said its a hernia size of a pencil as well he pushed it back in but when i coughed it came back out im on my to set up a serg. app.Any who im actuly kind of scared of the surg...o-well ill get over it.

  • Does it have to be that big? I think I have one because it feels like there's a rock in my belly button. Am I just freaking out for no reason?

  • It doesn't sound like the same thing. If the umbilical channel is breached, the first thing that comes through the hole is fat, and it was soft. If a person lets it go, it will become bowel, then they are at risk for entanglement/bowel resection surgery. Yours doesnt sound like a hernia, but you might have it checked out by your doc just in case. good luck

  • besides the bulge. did u feel any pain or bloating from this. what made u go to the doctor in the first place. i think i might have th same thing as you. not sure. jsut wondering if u had any pain or other symptoms besdies the bulge in your belly buttton, how are u doin today? no problems ?

  • It wasn't really painful, it was just bothersome in that I could push it back in if I layed down on my back. The doctor, he said it was a pocket of fat that seeped through a breach in my abdominal wall. If the hole became bigger, bowel could fall through and become convoluted, and then he would have to remove bowel. since I caught it early, he just put one stitch into my muscle. No one really notices if I have my shirt off, and I am glad I did it to stop the tear and get it fixed early.

  • @freakysideshow im gonna make a doc appoint and see if this is what i have. i push just above my belly button and theres some give ,almost a little pop noise. it hurts a little bit when i press directly on my b;button. dont want it to get worse like u said and have bowel removed. thats scary. gonna see if i can get in to doctor this week, thanks man

  • I am happy to hear that, won't hurt to see what he says, yours sounds correctable at this stage. The surgery is bad, doesnt hurt, it's just uncomfortable for a few days, but if you have a choice in painkillers, percosets work much better than vicodens if you can get them. If I chose vicodens, that script is refillable, option is 1 time script for 40 percosets, but I had half the bottle left when the discomfort was gone - good luck

  • @freakysideshow are you awake for surgery? or put under?

  • general anesthetic, you wake up cofortable, then have someone drive you home for tv all day
