Although her voice is obviously fantastic, I think the performance she gives is massively out of sinc with the apparent meaning of the song. The Regina Spektor version seems much more pathetic and resigned to her fate as someone who is with a man who treats her badly, even though she knows this she stays with him. Streisand seems too powerful and independant, too busy trying to show us how well she can sing.

@fillap01 If you watch the movie (or at least the scene of the final meeting with her ex husband in her dressing room right before this clip starts) you'll see that she actually did interpret this really well. She's singing about a relationship that she's finally found the strength to end - this scene is when she turns her grief over the failed marriage into confidence in her ability to carry on as a performer.

I was a toddler when I learned the entire Funny Girl soundtrack, LOL, my mother originally wanted to sing opera and then she wanted to be Barbara Striesand (with a 4 octave voice she did a pretty good imitation :-) I guess you could say I attended the Barbara Streisand school of voice as a child. Feel so sorry for young singers who have NO decent influences to emulate. And I LOVE Leah Michelle! Let me explain this to you unmusical boobs:

Fanny Brice's recording was a square arrangement in a higher key; she was a soprano, not a belter.

Streisand's is TOTALLY DIFFERENT; different key; different arrangement (more 1960's, for better and worse); she alters the melody line; she growls; she changes the rhythm, etc. In other words, she interprets it; makes it her own.

Lea's version is....well...EXACTLY THE SAME as Streisand's. That's not being an artist, that's basically karaoke.
