Noone can 100 per cent guarantee that their dog will never bite anyone. Dogs bite for all kinds of reasons. It may be true that a pitbull is no more likely to bite than a poodle, but which would you rather be bitten by?
It all depends on who owns the dog. Take My dog and my neighbors dog. Both are Pit Bulls, and we are both sure somewhat blood related (everything down to temperament is the same) My dog has never been hit, has been encouraged to be nice and has had a ton of training. Everyone that walks in is greeted with a lick. Her dog on the other hand tries to attack everyone she sees because they have taught her to be aggressive. Same blood, different owners, different dogs.
It's been proven that the severity of dog bites in terms of pounds of pressure is determined by head and jaw size. Pit bulls usually are bred to have large blocky heads but they are still medium sized dogs. Most only weigh about 35-50 lbs. Poodles can weigh up to 70 but they are bred to have small elegant heads. The bite would probably be similar though and if you really want to compare bites, a tosa inu or mastiff breed would do much more damage than a pit bull.

Shelters can't get insurance in many states if they try to adopt out Pitts, which means any Pitt ending up in the shelter is put down. I guess insurance companies aren't as bad as I thought. When a dachsund has a bad moment, someone gets a bite or a scrape. When a Pitt or Rotty has a bad moment, someone gets maimed or killed.
Yes you are correct that is an American Bully. There was a lot of them at the PAW event. But, they also fall under the "Pit Bull" category just like many Rotties, Labs, and mixes. There was a lot of Pit Bull Mixes at this event.

So, a breed (and its derivatives) representing approximately 1/10 of the dog populaton, and responsible for more human deaths in the USA than any other breed should be given the benefit of the doubt, and we should only punish the owner, not the dog when one kills.
