Sandhill Crane in Backyard

keep on feeding them, just give them 3 pieces of bread or cracked corn you get at feed store.

I have been a crane addict for 2 yrs. the park rangers put out crack corn for them to eat.

I guess you don't know you aren't supposed to feed wildlife? makes them not afraid of us and they can be killed and the same for alligators they lose their fear of us and attack......also sandhill cranes mate for life so 1 is the male and 1 is the female

Yes I do realize this but at the time we were unaware that it was illegal. We don't do it anymore and whenever they come around we merely watch. But they're super pretty ^^

that's cool just thought you would like to know....like I said they mate for life and it's the saddest thing when you only see 1 (which I hope you never do) that means its mate was probably killed by a car or a golfball....I know it sounds absurd but check it out on google......most sandhill cranes are killed by cars and golfballs.....I know a guy here locally that rehabilitates birds and he not to long ago fitted a crane with a prothesis (it lost its leg to a car or golfball)
