  • My contacts are pushed from my gmail to iPad but not from my iPad to gmail

    Any help or advise?

  • Phil

Thanks for the great video. Does your advise also work the same on the iPad

I am a first time user of any apple products but have used gmail for awhile. I just bought an iPad.

Is ther any known issues in the syncing gmail contacts with the iPad. I am having some stuff happening . One issue is it is duplicating the contacts (looks like in Z) It there a maximum amount of contacts that the iPad will sync?

  • Ive been told that when you set up an gmail as an exchange account, your mail will not be shown as read when you read it on your iPhone. Is this true?

  • Wow! I have the iPhone 4s and even though I can use cloud I wanted to know how to use my google account for contacts. This was VERY helpful! Thanks :0)

  • thanks.. great video..

  • Thank you so much... very good video.

  • great video but my contacts won't sync :( i just want a back up on googles servers

  • WoW I said this video was old lol an it up to date

  • I know this video is old but I notice you said that you can also sync your US Holidays to your iPhone 4 calendar. Can I you tell me how to do that or maybe make a video on how to do it I've been looking for a way to sync Holidays to my idevice calendar but had no luck.

  • @joeyguy45 Well personally I prefer the iPhone/iOS interface and apps to Android. I have worked with both Android phones and iPhones (and an iPad) and find the Apple devices more intuitive. I also find many more useful apps available in the App store. But everyone is different and use whatever works best for you.

  • I love this video. Great job!

  • @ibmxx Thanks glad it helped!

  • Simple and easy to follow directions and worked perfectly. Thank you very much.

  • @tennisman1939 Awesome - glad to here you were able to follow along and get it going. Love it when a plan comes together!

  • can you un-sync google calender if you want to go back to icalendar?

  • @omgitsdefault I believe it you just delete the account that will accomplish what you want. You should then be able to go back to syncing with iCalendar.

  • Just want you to know I love your video so simple and user friendly got my calendars all set up thank you

  • @angie8372 That's great Angie. Mission accomplished. I know many people struggle with this so I'm glad I could help you get it all hooked up!

  • Man I loved this video

  • @WilyMane And my video loves you too - LOL. Glad it helped!

  • Good Job! It was slow enough that i was able to follow the video and do both my ipad and iphone at the same time. So good job on the video... Thanks a bunch.

  • @ozzie678 Awesome - getting your double-barrelled iDevice groove on. Sweeet!

  • Thanks so much for the video!

One problem, i can't accept calender event invites. It says:

"Your response to the invitation cannot be sent"

I've setup my gmail and iphone in the ways your have described on your videos.

    Any help much appreciated.

  • @fr0ztz This seems to be a common problem. I hunted around the web and was unable to find a solution as of yet. I'm hoping this is something they might address in the upcoming iOS update next month. Keeping my fingers crossed.

  • THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!

  • @AngelaLuvPink You are most welcome!!

  • This was very informative. Thanks for sharing.

  • @gorillagutters Great glad it helped ya!

  • Thank you for uploading this video.

Unfortunately my events on my iPhone will not sync to my google calendar. The other way around went fine. Do you have any suggestions on how to fix this?

  • @MrViperTorch Hmmm not sure why it would only be working one way. Try deleting the account and adding it again.

  • YOU SAVED ME. LOVE YOU MAN!

  • @eureva (blushing) - Awwww thanks! So glad I was able to help you get your mail and calendars syncing.

  • this is a brilliant video, helped me so much!!! :D

    amazing video!

  • @cricketlad94 So glad the video helped. Glad to be of service!

  • Guys i downloaded this app and it never load so I downloaded it again and then the app wont install it! Now when ever I turn on my iPad it's stil there I want to delete it but I can't! Can someone help me?

  • @HoraStudio Not sure what app you are talking about. The mail and calendar apps I demonstrate using above are built into the iPhone and iPad so there is no way to delete them. If the syncing isn't working correctly you can delete the accounts you setup.

  • You are an ABSOLUTE gem for posting this!! Thank you sooooo much!!

  • @GoddessSkyeBlu So glad the video helped get you all setup!

  • big issue is that you cant choise what collor to use and makes it really confusing specialy if you both use and ipad and iphone at the same time

  • @BarcaBosch Yes I agree it would be good to have better control over the color of the different calendars. I searched around but haven't found any concrete solution to that. Maybe in IOS5!

  • Thank you! I've been searching for an answer for 2 days of how to sync all my google contacts and multiple calendars to my new ipad 2 and no one at the apple store or on the forums could tell me how. Thank you!

  • @captdmk So glad I could help! My wife's iPad2 should be arriving this Friday - looking forward to getting her all setup on it and syncing with her Google contacts and calendars as well. I hope you enjoy your newfound mobility!

  • keeps saying my password isnt right?

  • @LildAnakin Hmmm not sure why that would be - try removing the account and setting it up again. I had to do that once to get it to stick. Also the password is case sensitive.

  • @LildAnakin A few more thoughts - the iPhone always wants to capitalize the first letter of words that start a sentence and I find it often does that with passwords as well so you might need to type the first letter twice and then delete the first one so that it keeps the lower case letter and not the upper case one.

Also check the proxy settings for your wi-fi. I looked at mine and it is set to OFF - other suggest AUTO. You might want to check yours and see how it is configured.

  • AT&T is Awesome!!!!

  • Thank you! This worked perfectly on my iPod Touch 4G. All I wanted was my contacts on there for a TextFree app. Worked like a charm, great video.

  • @theredrobotredding Awesome so glad it helped!

  • Is there any way to disable the password requirement for sync? Piss me off!

  • @Wetzell0 No way to disable password but you should only have to enter it once when setting up the account. If you look at my reply to @LildAnakin a few comments above this one they were having an issue where it kept asking for the password. I gave some suggestions for solutions - I hope they help!

  • i keep getting the "password Incorrect" msg.. and I've set it up like you said so. even tried re entering the pw... i fail. help.

  • @elecan2 If you look at my reply to @LildAnakin a few comments above this one they were having an issue where it kept asking for the password. I gave some suggestions for solutions - I hope they help! Mostly making sure the iPhone isn't automatically capitalizing the first letter of the password. Also check your wifi proxy settings and make sure it is set to AUTO or OFF (mine is off). I hope this helps!

  • Uhhhh life was grand for a week until after an iPhone reboot I found only 2 items in my iPhone Mail app inbox but there were about 50 when looking at gmail by browser. I had to revert to standard gmail hookup to get my Mail inbox straightened so I lost my extra calendar views on the phone. Yes, I did try every conceivable choice in settings.

  • @zappr5 That is odd - can't imagine what would cause that. I actually use the OTHER - IMAP connection for my mail as I describe in my other video called - "How to send mail from your own domain on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch with Gmail" (Sorry YouTube won't let me put a URL in the comments). Click on my channel & you can find this video easily. This lets me configure my iPhone to send mail from my own domain email address instead of using my gmail address. I use the above steps 4 calendar.

  • @philmontero Thanks but I need a rest to grow back all the hair I tore out. :P I can use iPhone's browser to access full G-Cal if I need it. Also I keep getting another Cal in my list called Gmail Todo. Ugh, Google interface ever-changing to"help" the user. "New features you'll love!" means an evening of button pushing.

  • Great video. Made my life easy. I had a android device before, I recently got iphone and I was trying to find a better way to move my contacts and sync calendars. This was a life saver!!

  • @samirahmed42 So glad to hear the video helped you out! I figure there are probably a lot of people trying to figure out the best way to sync their iPhones and iPads with Gmail and the default Gmail connection it provides isn't always the best way. I hope you are enjoying your new iPhone! What do you think about it compared to your android device? What do you find to be the pros and cons?

  • @theanywhereoffice I was using the MyTouch 3g before switching back to the iphone. The myTouch was not well designed, it was really buggy and slow. I used it only for a year and I knew I had to switch to something else. What I love about the iphone is the sync with itunes and google. Also the fact that everyone had an app on the market with iphone so it keeps me connected to my daily life.

  • @samirahmed42 Yes I used to use a Handspring Visor back in the day and a TREO (one of the first smartphones). Moved away from the smartphone world for a few years but after seeing the iPhone and using an iPod Touch I was ready to move back. Then I just had to wait for it to come to Verizon as I didn't want AT&T as my wireless carrier. Amazing how many different things I use it for!

  • Nice vid Phil.

  • @jakelights Thanks Jake - glad you liked the video. How is life with your Mac going? Have you and your band been using Garage band to record any tunes?

  • @theanywhereoffice Ow yes i forgot i promised you before :-). Theres a video in my channel "In my dreams" i hope you like it.

  • @jakelights Awesome job Jake! Love that the video was shot with the iPod Touch - and recorded/edited with all the iLife programs (Garage Band and iMovie). Keep em coming my friend!

  • Thanks Phil! Very helpful!

  • @zappr5 Glad you found it useful!
