in the gelfand game aronian said in the press conference that b5 was a blunder... idea was ra6 to rg6 but he missed something that defends... search for aronian shows gelfand in youtube
1.03.20 - I don't understand why white can't take the bishop. Surely if black plays RF7 white can trade his queen for both rooks (plus the bishop he has already won)?
i really feel like aronian's ideas are just too complex to analyze without his input, don't get me wrong i love the videos but i just can't help but feel like there are some sort of insane things going on in the brain of aronian when he plays and analyzes variations
Hi kingcrusher. Love ur vids. I realise most of your analysis was done on the run here but felt i should mention that at 1:03 you claim after R-F8 QxB R-F7 and the rook on A7 is hanging. This is wrong because the Queen would take the rook on F7 and after RxQ RxR black has got 2 rooks and a bishop for his queen. However then would come blacks brilliant fork Q-H4! hitting white's night on e2 and rook on F7 retaining a slight edge for black. Should mention Q-c1 blunders the Q cold at end of vid.
I saw a video how to play chess and defeat 1800 to 2100 rated player somewhere on chess.com . My rating is ~1500 to ~1600. I played a game against computer (Garry Kasparov software) set at rating 1800 , 30min on BA flight and won the game with white pieces. Black played Kings Indian Defence and I attacked the queen side. :)
No doubt Aronian belongs in the top 3. And the game against Giri was Immortal. Still one may argue that both Kamsky and Caruana walked in to seemingly immature and suicidal pins, resulting in easy and quick wins for Aronian.
at 1:03:30 i was like Qxf7 Rxf7 Rxf7, and white would be a knigt up (bishop+2rooks for queen), but then i checked with houdini, and there are 2 pieces hanging after Qh5 with a dangerous queen infiltration coming
a Carlsen-Aronian face-off wd generate the sort of interest Kasparov-Karpov did - it's the match everyone wants to see so phaps cd be staged independantly of the WC w/out putting too many noses out of joint? - big sponsor making an offer neither cd refuse
i don't think such a proposal disrespects FIDE or either 'And' - i'd say it's kind of comparable to a Champions League final involving Lyon (say) w/ a Real Madrid-Barcelona derby a week prior, both teams at their peak
In the first game couldn't the threat simply be knight takes g2 attacking the rook and then rook to g4 it seems simple but i am not sure exactly how white is defending it.
@kingscrusher It seems a lot of strong players like to give up a pawn in the opening to get more activity, which they then use to regain the pawn later with a better position.
Would you agree Tryfon? Also, I'm going to play my first game for my club today, so I'm quite excited :)
in the endgame of the last game (1:14:08/1:16:03); i didn't understand why white didn't play Qxd7 at first glance, but i see it now. If Qxd7, then Rf7, Qxf7, Rxf7, Rxf7, and Qh5 forking rook and knight with a winning position. :-)

@Mwuesse Yes I could not understand that 2 , the only advantage for black would be advanced pawns, strange that it was not even mentioned !!!

In the Caruana game, after 14...Qe6, why not 15.Nc7 winning an exchange?
