@AngryAnon - I'm glad you got something out of this part of the review.
Unfortunately, this kit does seem like it's fragile to the point where part stress or even breakage could happen with even reasonable care in handling.
I like the kit but I don't think it's worth the full price of its MSRP.
@likeits1985 - I hope that they produce a revision of these first two DMK kits. If they do, I'd definitely buy a second BB kit to use for a custom kitbash.
Having built several Bandai MG kits, this video gives me at least some confidence that I would be able to do this kit with a high degree of success. Thanks for the look at this kit.
Oy...I was kinda afraid of this. And to think I was optimistic during the unboxing video^^;
Several years ago, I assembled some Zoids and Pokemon Tomy kits, & even on the smaller kits, I've found the pegs & connections never seemed to want to come together properly - either the pegs were too large for the holes or the parts didn't line up absolutely perfect. Often, it's almost as if the parts were REPELLING each other! And now, Takara Tomy seems to suffer the same thing. I blame the molding.
@ckaicydek - I think the ill fitting tabs/pegs is definitely due to issues with molding precision. The kit isn't bad but it isn't great, which I expected due to the relatively expensive price tag.
From what I've seen so far on reviews I'll pass on this kit. Too bad because I really wanted to get a robot mode only model. What really made me come to that conclusion was the prebuild frame and prepainted parts.
@gunplanut - To be honest, I would only recommend this kit to diehard movie Bumblebee fans. G1 BB is my favourite character and I like the movie BB design so I don't regret buying this kit but there are some significant flaws to deal with if one buys the kit.
@GundamBladezz - The sculpted detail is quite good! If/when I ever get my hands on the DMK Optimus Prime kit, I'll at least have knowledge about certain pitfalls that these models possess.
its a shame, I was interested in this model, but fragility is major issue in my household, thus I cant really consider buying this.
Id rather a koto model than one of these, they only break if you arent carefull rather than just use.
a friend of mine is a big fan of transformers, Ill probably recommend it to him rather than buy it for myself.
either way, great informative review, if only more people that reviewed kits were as in depth of the mechanics of these models.

It is shame to hear about the loose joints and the tendency of some of the parts falling off.
Hopefully Tomy will address these issues in future releases.

how small are the parts, are they like RG small parts?
MrSubstitute1 7 months ago
@MrSubstitute1 - The parts of this kit are generally quite small, similar in smallness to RG kit parts.

Would you say to glue the problem parts?
TFfanmaiku 7 months ago
@TFfanmaiku - I would say glue some of the parts while others only require minorsanding of the tabs to ensure a proper fit.

Sounds like they is need to be careful while building this inner frame.
Mecha82 7 months ago
@Mecha82 - Yes, one definitely should have a soft touch when building this kit.

@123asd1 - Bumblebee could "speak" by playing a recording of Arnold saying "Come with me if you want to live!"
