EXCUSE ME!!.. this isnt a ghostbuster question.. but wats the name of the green rabbit at 0:08?? i remember watching that cartoon as soon as i saw him but i cant remember wat the cartoon was called.. can any0ne help me??
Well looks I wasted money apparently they are coming out with a new line WoW I have one already but $21.99 WHICH SSSUUUCCCKKKSSSS!!!!!! but hey its new and brilliant!!
Hey Matlock, I have the same exact Ecto - car but chose to keep mine in the box. However I did open it once just to make sure everything was inside and you're not the only one with the problem of the ghost being sticky. Mines was very slobbery as a matter of fact. I'm assuming they were made like that for effect, unless time took a toll. Anyway, awesome review man! Keep up the good work! :)
nice find matlcok, i am waiting for my ecto-1 to come from Italy. are you into any of the Real Ghostbusters Figures from Kenner? I just beefed my collection with some of these from the late 80's.
...At this point, some might say that my going into such detail about the history of these toys is a bit silly and trivial. May be,but I say if art and history aren't important, then what is? It beats talking about politics, religion and all that adult non-sense that accomplishes nothing. If you appreciate toys as much as I do,then check out my 15 minute action figure movie here on YouTube called DOG AQUARIUM. It stars these classic Ghostbusters toys and also features Ninja Turtles and more.
...Some sources say the line wasn't actually released until 1987. I didn't get into the line until 1989,so i don't remember. If anyone knows for sure, let us know. As others have mentioned,Ecto-1A came out in 1990 and is based on Ghostbusters II (1989),but the toy itself has 1984 on it because it uses the same mold as the 1986 regular Ecto-1,just with new stickers. To further confuse collectors, toys that came out in 1987-1990 and have those years on them, still have 1984 and 1986 on the packaging.
To answer your question,no,the ghost is not supposed to be slimy. Since buying on eBay I've encountered a lot of old Ghostbusters toys with that problem, even straight out the package. May be they get too hot or too cold,I don't know. I remember that none of them were sticky when they were new. And,not to sound like a know-it-all,but there were no Ghostbusters toys made in 1984. The first wave of toys came out in 1986 and were based on the cartoon, but had the 1984 movie copyright year on the toys
Oh man this thing makes me leak ecto jelly...;) I would so get this. Very slick. Very cool man. Thanx for this. Great review home boy. Liked and Faved.
Hell yeah! Awesome find! Loved the Ecto-1 as a kid, but can't remember if which version I had (since there are more than one?). It's a shame that Mattel hasn't brought out a new Ecto-1 although I guess it wouldn't have the same nostalgia. You'd probably have to take the pack off the figure before you try putting him inside, unless the problem was that he was too tall =x Although the Fire House is also cool, it's just not as essential.
It looks cool. I had the firehouse when I was a kid :-) As far as scale it's no where as large as the real car but for a toy it's a good size. It's nice that you have the box with it as well. Fun video!
if you ever want to put new decals on that car, I think somewhere I have a scan of the decals on my desktop

this particular toy was made in 1989-1990 after the release of the 2nd film in 1989.
it is the only vehicle to be featured in one of the movies and subsequently made for the cartoon line of toys.
