  • WTF is that? horrible! and ridiculo

  • To be fair, I know this looks like flashy shit, but practicing martial arts was banned in brazil when it was controlled by portugal, so they practiced it pretending it was a dance. Capoeira helped them regain independence, much like Eskrima did with the filipinos against spain.

  • 2:27 kill and cartwheel away. lol.

  • lolol Death Kwan Do

  • And in order to any of this stuff in public you would need to train at least every day and TRAIN HARD

  • @xbimpyx

    ... so?

  • =_= This is only for stunts in movies. if i had a bat or gun you be dead or in the hostpile. but for hand to hand combat, the take downs will only work unless your comfotrable doing all the flashy stuff in public.

  • @xbimpyx but remember, you have a bat or a gun because you couldn't afford a job with that grammar, while I could afford a hospital because I have good grammar. =D

  • @AlexLococo huh? wat does grammar have 2 do anything. this is youtube btw so who cares bout writting write xd but i guess ur a gammar nazzi

  • @xbimpyx That I can write propperly and I will have a good job, you can't, so you won't.

  • @AlexLococo 1. i have a job. 2. ur a just a gammar troll nazi. 3. go the hell away and take ur gammar nazi trolling somewhere else why waist ur life arguing with ppl about gammar on yotube. 3. hah hah you dont got job. 4. im done here

  • @xbimpyx fair enough

  • i dont think the buff black guy knew capoeria , ( his stance was poor)but then abon he in proved in the end of the film , i've seen the real video and it was good to see those acrobatic movements used for attack :D ,

  • @Namriu94 actually the guy you're talking about is a really talented capoeirista. search up mestre amen santo on youtube and you'll see.

  • Holy 80s, those pants are amazing! Thank you for sharing this.

  • so i have been practicing capoiera for a month now. and altough the reason for my love of it is free expression and acrobatics and just plain fun and addicting. i have to ask. if in a real life situation do you think you would be able to defend yourself from lets say a group of muggers or even one

  • @aragorio if your teacher is good and you know to use capoeira right

    sure

  • @aragorio Yes...I believe you can because I have before...just depends on the technique and the application. Some guy tried mugging me at a bus stop and I used Ponteira(very dangerous kick) to his liver and a Meia lua de compasso (Rabo da Arraia) to his head.I walked away and he fell asleep. It just depends on how you train. Hope this helps answer your question.Best of luck, train hard and Axé :)

  • come on son

  • Éh.. ensaiado saiu bem bonitinho.. mas na vida real é outros 500.. Bons bailarinos..

  • this is the most catchy capoeria song, lol

  • The 'capoeira techniques' shown here are so crappy it's almost entertaining. The two clowns should be ashamed.

  • @CarNikolaj From this comment I should understand that you are already a mestre and could take any of these gents?

  • @CarNikolaj You're think their technique is more embarrassing than their super tight pants and mullets? I'm going to have to respectfully disagree with that.

  • HAHAHA WTF GUY ON THE VAN!! LOOOLL

  • hey I have copies of it

  • birds put the turd in custurd, but who put the shit in number 10?

  • estos flacos vieron muchas peliculas

  • What happend to Nilson Reis?No videos of him by himself that i can find.He was awesome in those videos

  • LMAO

  • lol ridiculous. Might as well be break dance fighting.

  • @MarshalNey13

dude, I am a martial artist and trust me... these guys are more dangerous that you may think

  • @fsgtad

I'm sorry, I don't believe you. Capoeira is a dance. I'm sure there are capoeira practitioners who could beat me up, but if they do it would be based on their conditioning rather than their unsafe moves. Capoeira screams flashy breakdance moves, poor body/head positioning, no margin of error, and unrealistic scenarios. Show me live capoeira that works and I'll shut up.

  • @MarshalNey13

that's okay, but let's break this video down for a second: he blocked a punch with a kick, pretty baisic and often used in taekwando, then high kick followed by what is baisicly a tornado kick, which is generally found in shaolen kung fu.

second demo: fake as hell, but the handstand kick still works

third one:a simple block and counter scenario with some flash sprinkled on top.

  • @fsgtad

You're describing a choreographed fight sequence, of course it's going to "work." I could beat an opponent using nothing but finger pokes if he came at me in slow motion and fell down when I touched him. People don't fight like this though. Attackers don't punch like little girls or just peacefully walk into kicks. I used to breakdance, unless you are a star athlete, handstand moves take TONS of energy to pull off and are very dangerous at high speeds.

  • @MarshalNey13

Energy is just one reason. You do martial arts, let me ask you this, why do you keep your hands up in a fight? Answer: to protect your head. Every time the cap guy does a handstand or cartwheel he's putting his face (and back) in front of his opponent's foot.

  • @MarshalNey13

Bottom line, Capoeira is a dance. I know people who practice it will claim that it's a disguised deadly martial art, but if it does have any application, it's impeded by everything that makes Capoeira, Capoeira and not kickboxing. Please don't watch this and think you can fight 2 guys at once or take on a guy with a baseball bat using martial arts.

  • @MarshalNey13

first of all, your grasp of the obvious astounds me.

second of all, how in the name of sweet Satan would you disguise hand to hand combat in a scenario where anything that looked even remotely like a fighting style would get you shot? I'm not saying it's some kind of "super-style" there's no such thing, but to think that programming your body for such agility and speed combined with a thinly veiled set of attacks and dodges will do you no good is just this side of mental illness

  • @fsgtad

Lol, you're the one who wanted to "break this video down," so don't criticize me for pointing shit out. Besides, I brought up legitimate points that you have yet to address. To answer your question, "how would you disguise a fighting style"... you wouldn't. You get a watered-down MA that is full of inefficient dance moves. Can it work? Sure. Every capoeira guy i've seen has been jacked, but they're dangerous in the same way an athletic break dancer is. Show me realistic Cap, plz.

  • @MarshalNey13

that's all true and to be honest I have no strong opinion on the subjest, just started the argument cuz I was bored, but if you'd like to continue, I'm cool wit it. now for your points

    1. hide it in the culture, like Escrima, or kali, unless that too is useless

    2. fitness is one of the greatest parts of this art/ dance, I mean a suicide kick to the face is impractical and overall foolish, but requires great strength and agility\

but I was asking YOU and YOU never answered mine

  • @MarshalNey13

it's an odd hobby arguing for entertainment, but it's fun.

  • @MarshalNey13

you do have good taste in music though, I'll give you that.

  • @MarshalNey13

and yes, it is very much a dance, as well as a style of music.

  • @MarshalNey13

I am not going to argue about any of this, just adding to the discussion that this video is nearly 25 years old. Many martial arts do evolve. So did Capoeira. As an example for "fighting" within capoeira, which undoubtedly you can transfer to the streets, (search youtube for "best of muzenza")

Contemporary C. is open for additions such as BJJ, not always this is seen as improvement, but the possibility for modification remains.

  • @MarshalNey13

don't answer your own questions, you look like a douche

besides the "null" position has arms at sides and yet still wins tournaments.

besides, if a fight takes more than 10 seconds from start to finish; you're doing it wrong.

  • @fsgtad

Ugh, I'll ignore that comment about me being a douche in the interest of ending this. Yes, arguing over the internet is both stupid and fun. I disagree with your assessment of Capoeira. To me, it is cooperative breakdancing but w/e, we can agree to disagree.

I assume you're talking about the Finnish metal. I'm glad you like it, it is uniquely awesome.

  • @MarshalNey13

    yesh,

either way, besides, I didn't say you were one, just that answering one's own question gives that question.

and you assumed correctly on the metal.

good day/ night/ evening / what the hell ever.

  • @MarshalNey13

    any questions?

  • @MarshalNey13

    Look up this video:

The Original Crazy 20 second Capoeira MMA Knockout!

  • I believe if trained properly Capoeira could be devastating, mainly because its so unusual...heck I'd never expect an opponent to turn a cartwheel and kick me right in the face LOL.

  • Very nice! I think this is the first video post I've seen that showcases capoeira as an actual form of self defense. Don't get me wrong, I know that Capoeira was originally developed as a way to defend one's self. I just think, personally, that it's more of an art form now than a form of self defense. Still, I love Capoeira. It's one of the most visually stunning and physically challenging arts out there.

  • Nice hoopas.....tjihiiiiii

  • Esto esta guillao, jajaja capoeira es la que la hace.Congrats. from Puerto Rico, keep it up.

  • so funny !!!!!!

  • Yeah i would totaly 1hitKO some1 with a macaco >:3

  • hahahahahahahahahaha
