Good thing you did there D&D he is beautiful. Quick tip dont pat the next one on top of the head or back, and dont hang over the dog, that is dominance not affection, pat/scratch under the head/jaw that is the sweet spot to earn trust. Look at ppl when they meet a dog first time and they try to pat the top of the head, what do 98% of dogs do?

i picked up a stray pitbull today, dun kno much about them but she was soo obediante and loving to me. and i never liked them type dogs but she followed me and thier was traffic up ahead so i took her heavy link chain that was warped around her neck and walked her, anyway00 shes with me and she soo smart, loving and pottie trained dun kno if i can keep her but its worth trying too. o i named her baby, chocolate color pit. white chest & back paws white, beautiful.

it says in the title irish staff but it's classified under pitbull. pitbull isn't a breed it's a group of breeds includes staffordshires(american, bull, irish) bullies etc.

thats not true. i think youl find there all different breeds. here in uk pitbulls are banned and staffs are not. staffs are shorter legged and nosed too. there all different mate english staffs, yank staffs and pitts are 3 different breeds

Thank God for people like you! Charlie has the most soulful eyes and I'm so glad you found each other. Rescue dogs are such rewarding pets. There's nothing quite like realizing the dog curled up with his head on your lap was once afraid to look you in the eye, much less let you touch him. The greatest shame is the fact that this little fella probably has a temperament sweet as pie buried in there somewhere and this is the best life those monsters could come up with for him. Nice rescue...did you ever take him to the vet???? Those bugs as you referred to them were maggots..hopefully you both took him to the vet had him vacc, neutered/spayed and what's up with your kennels in the background...sorry I am a bitch re: "rescue" ppl esp. when they feed the abandoned animal corn beef/hash w/antibiotics...keep us ALL posted re: his repairment at the vet

The bugs were gnats and Charlie got the full vet treatment. We have 6 dogs plus Charlie which now makes 7. We cook brown rice, lentils every day for them and jazz their food up with chicken and ocasionally corned beef hash (REGULAR DOG FOOD IS VERY UNHEALTHY). The kennels are in our storm shelter we had built after almost getting smashed by a hurricane in Central FL 2 yeras ago. Impossible to evacuate with 7 dogs. Charlie was the first dog to test them out. HE stays in our house now.

A daring rescue. Sometimes it's not a good idea to approach an injured animal but you guys were lucky. I see you waited 2 hours to sort of "judge" how he might react. That was smart. You guys are heros.

Thank you! We are always cautious. This was our first full Bull Terrier rescue and despite the fact that they get a bad rap and are just like any other dog, we took our time and let him decide if we were okay. Rescues seem more dangerous due to cars/traffic. I am amazed at how people can see you pulled over on the side of the road and not even slow down.
