All of which are very good rock artists, and yes before paul mccartney they did only use pop/hip hop artists. @BillSteer99 The guitar he's playing is a Signature .. it was a Canadian guitar company that Alex was supporting .. I had a friend who had a couple .. they were very well built guitars .. A lot of people said they sounded thin or jangly .. that was his Gallien Krueger amplifiers that gave him that tone .
@LifesonFan4Life Alex actually designed the signature guitars with one of his friend.I own a Signature Auracle for the past 23 years and still is my main guitar.You're right they don't sound thin..lol the auracle has humbuckers.What i love about signature guitars is that they sounded so clean and no humming or unwanted noise.
RUSH is probably the only band around where you can see the audience playing AIR GUITAR, AIR BASS, AIR DRUMS, AIR KEYBOARDS and singing along throughout the show. No other band's fans play all four "air" instruments. They might do two or maybe three but not all four!

A band like Rush will probably never be asked to play the Superbowl because certain people don't consider them "mainstream", The Who's hits are better known they would say. Rush is mainstream to me, to you and plenty of others, but the powers that be don't feel the same way. Why wasn't Rush asked to play the winter Olympics last year?...because the stupid ass organizers thought someone else/bands were better to represent Canada.
The way the drums provide a backing, and at times accentuate the guitars and lyrics is awe inspiring. Something I feel has seldom been achieved as well as Rush has done, and certainly not in today's music. Bravo!
it's a mistake to relate talent with musical complexity. Police's musicians are very talented, playing together and in the contributions they have made to numerous artists.
What's cool about Rush is that they are a 70's band but there music is like the sound of today...even therecordings are clean...It's really amazing, progressive bands are the best...also check on Pink Floyd and Tool another great band...

i used to hear this on the radio when I was young, and it always stood out from the rest of everything else the radio was playing. The keyboard riff is a classic, the guitar solo is the wierdest thing i've ever heard! And the fact that its in 7/8 is insane

RUSH is probably the only band around where you can see the audience playing AIR GUITAR, AIR BASS, AIR DRUMS, AIR KEYBOARDS and singing along throughout the show. No other band's fans play all four "air" instruments. They might do two or maybe three but not all four!

1:33 -- check out the dudes playing air keyboard. i managed front row seats for the RTB tour at starlake ampitheater in pittsburgh and when they played tom sawyer i had to laugh out loud because me and *every single other person in the front row* leaned over the rail and started playing air keyboards during this part of the song...it was fucking awesome. greatest concert ever.

At events like that, they ask people like rappers and hip hop shit because they are considered "relevant to the audience"...they are what's hip today. @JackRemeta I'm not condemning Rush..their one my fave bands. A band like Rush will probably never be asked to play the Superbowl because certain people don't consider them "mainstream", The Who's hits are better known they would say. Rush is mainstream to me, to you and plenty of others, but the powers that be don't feel the same way. Why wasn't Rush asked to play the winter Olympics last year?...because the stupid ass organizers thought someone else/bands were better to represent Canada.

The way the drums provide a backing, and at times accentuate the guitars and lyrics is awe inspiring. Something I feel has seldom been achieved as well as Rush has done, and certainly not in today's music. Bravo!

the police have not recorded anything in 25 years- they recently toured (briefly) on their 25 yr. old glories ( which are formidable)
they are a fine group but, they are not close to Rush in Stamina, experimentation, work ethic and like-abilty

What's cool about Rush is that they are a 70's band but there music is like the sound of today...even therecordings are clean...It's really amazing, progressive bands are the best...also check on Pink Floyd and Tool another great band...

i used to hear this on the radio when I was young, and it always stood out from the rest of everything else the radio was playing. The keyboard riff is a classic, the guitar solo is the wierdest thing i've ever heard! And the fact that its in 7/8 is insane
