The Chines did buy our debt, but they were also given unfettered access to our markets. China simply offered their peasants as cheap labor to multinational corporations, at the cost of americans who earned their living in manufacturing. Those americans who had infrastructure jobs or government jobs, 401s have done quite well on the backs of those peasant laborers, and the pain of ameicans who earned their living in manufacturing. Now they are being ask to take the hit, how ironic.

@louiethegreater well said! Another thing people don't realize about the "401k gimmick" is they're essentially investing for the government. If they start an IRA with 10k and get a cheap tax break on that but it grows to 100k by the time they withdrawal it the government now has 90,000 more dollars to tax. This cheap money is destroying America, they get money at 0% and just do a currency pair trades and net 4% while hard working people are inflated by taxes and higher prices.
