youpick4me : If you listen to any of Madoff's interviews about "how he makes money " , he goes on at length about how it is all about "risk". It is very unusual for any businessman to disregard losing money , regardless of the particulars involved. That should have rang some very loud bells in investors minds. NO ! And in his own words - he says that each buyer & seller of stock thinks they know something the other doesn't. Madoff knew who had invested the most and paid them off.

If you consider that the Enron scandal was made up by people who were actually overwhelmed by the fact that if you created bank accounts (electronically ) , with fake informations , you could do absolutely anything. Contrary to what most people believe , there are alot of cases in court that are about the very same practices as Madoff chose. He chose to ignore on a pay to play basis - meaning that you always had to put your money back into his investments , if you made any money. That is fraud. If that were true , why would you invest ? People always miss that anybody can refuse to reveal their sources , thereby limiting any recourse. Enron encouraged such practices and did succeed to become invisible

It is very unusual for any businessman to disregard losing money , regardless of the particulars involved. That should have rang some very loud bells in investors minds. NO ! And in his own words - he says that each buyer & seller of stock thinks they know something the other doesn't. Madoff knew who had invested the most and paid them off.
