No tether, and much better control. I think his trick is to steer with paddle and weight shifting rather than moving the ducted fans. (not enough control)
it hovers a few feet about the ground. so what? smoking a dooby will do just the same and it's a fkn lot cheaper! and if you hit the ground stoned you don't end up in the emergency ward with bits of propeller in your skull!!! make your choice!
Man, I've wanted one of these since 2000 or 2001 when I first heard about it. I thought by now they'd be in major production. How nice would it be to fly to work, in this thing! :)
All this needs are a few fail-safes, like a hydrogen peroxide rocketpack for low altitude failure, and a parachute for higher altitude failure and this thing could be the best things since sliced bread. It can already go 155 miles on one tank of gasoline.
But you're missing the point... the Wright brother's plane was considered by many back then a bad invention also. And the Solo Trek works, so how is it a bad invention? And how many people have died on fixed wing aircraft since it was invented?
Once again to many safety ropes and not enough action. Chicken shits

Why couldn't they just finish the actual jet pack from the 60's?

I THINK THE PERSONAL MICRO COPTER WORKS BETTER AT ABOUT 20% OF THE COST.

nice idea, but instead of standing up straight, make it so you can sit and put your legs up. i can design a better one.

If these were to hit the market, how much do you suppose they would cost?

@Shimdidly I totally agree. I thought about the parachute before myself. Thanks for watching.

ok, noise is the major problem here!!!, but stability is great even with the ground effect...
I wonder why this guys are so scared to try it without crane. I agree with you 777 on the Wright bros.

They should order a coffin in advance if they are going to fly this without cables above 30 feet.

They also laughed at the Wright brothers a hundred years ago.

There are bad inventions and there are good inventions. Mentioning a good inventions doesn`t mean a bad one gets more credit.
