problems with insas is the generals desided to deploy only the single fire &burst fire abled rifiles in a bright colour ,&fixed but version ,then they failed to buy a lot of aimpoints ,eoteq ,nvg as they were expencive ,,then they one by one made uppgrades they got a few aim points then folding stoks,then they bought black ones which fire fullauto,on top of that drdo is a bit slow to follow trends and uppgrad them ,.....con.....

@pakifucker999999999 the drdo should take the insas excaliber ,make the folding but ajustable in 6 position ,give it a compleet pictinirail on top ,bottom ,and the sides , and start producing eoteq ,aimpoints ,night vision scope,torch ,termal cops ,laserpointer ,remove able supressor ,detachable40 mm ubgl ,or the same ablity on insas bulpup version this will put the insas on par with new usa m4 in use ,and ak 200 which is to hit production soon ,insas on MASS PRODUCTION asap

INSAS is very effective; it is the rifle which won kargil; however INSAS needs complete re-design considering modern technology and modern battle field. recoil is little high compared to other 5.56mm rifles but insas is very accurate.

@MrKasperabhay Me too, a lot of ppl say its a copy of Rusky AK-47 which does not even perform like AK-47. DRDO is a bullcrap. Have you looked at their website? Its pathetic.

@Backlittt actually it is based on AK 47 not a copy of AK 47 .. moreover INSAS is built for accuracy ; i guess.. + we should not doubt DRDO's capability ,..wait for a few more weeks for DRDO to unleash AGNI V ,..already it has successfully test fired Agni 4 ..+ about DRDO website ..i just checked DRDO site ..duh its a lot better than DoD of US, Boeing , and even EU typhoon..:D nice short and clean ...

insas and excaliber looks damn cool . is ex caliber is in service now . what about kaltanak.

No, none of them are in service as of now. but you can see very little number of ex caliber and kaltanak(in few 100's) rifles used our army.

i was always against that orange polymer of the insas. the black furniture looks a little better. it would be even better if they re-design the buttstock to turn it in a carbine. also the development of the trichy assault rifle (tar) is also a good development
