Carey, loved this video gave me the confidence to finally put one together from scratch, although I'd done nearly everything 'cept install a MOBO and processor. Did about the same as your vid 'cept an AMD (Gigabyte) MOBO and an AMD Phenom II X4 965 processor. It's been over a year now and it's still running smooth as silk. Think you should've left the rest of them up though. Doesn't matter to me as I downloaded them all and have them on a hard drive. Now I'm going to eyeball your gaming 'puter.
Thanks man, i watched your video when my Gaming Rig was on her way shipped to my house, the next day i did it perfect from the help of your video thanks man!!!
By the way, I got my new PC working. 1st boot up and everything worked like a dream. The only problems I had were because my hands were shaky. Had to hold on to the CPU with two hands and barely got it there. :)
This video was so good all of my fears for building for the first time are gone now! I also subscribed, thanks a lot Carey Holzman :) Btw: Have you ever worked with the HAF 922 case or the Antec 900? Which do you think is better if you have, thanks.
Hey, thank you so much for the best tutorial, I always wanted to build my computer and today I have finished building my gaming computer. Thanks Carey, your the best!
This is a little odd for me... My first built computer mobo had a DVI port on it similar to yours... But I am currently building another one that does not have an integrated video card... I am wondering if it will still boot properly if I plug my monitor into a ATI Radeon video card (PCI-e)?
vid in Utube. But I am going to change my computercase to a big tower and then I first have ti dissamble it. Do U think U can make s video on how to dissamble it the best and easiest way? :-)
Haha, I really like this, and the way you unboxed the motherboard was quite funny ^^ staring into the camera and WOO there goes the box blabla, i lold xd
@heavyrazor95 Anyone who has NEVER owned a computer should be foolish enough to try to build one. How would they understand the concepts without first understand the basics of a how computer works? That would be foolhardy at best.
Hey guys !!! I'm trying to build me a standerd pc just for web browsing and downloading lots of music !! So what components should I use ,, give me the whole 9 yards motherboared, cpu, hard drive, memory, power supply, optical drive and if I should get a graf card but I all so want at least 4-6 ok ????? Just send me a message plyzzz thanks guys
Change those up, intel suckes my dick and geforce cares about money to much and overpric everything. the 9800 isent expensive but the 5770 is a better card for around 20 bucks more
I think you should try and look into the new i3 and i5 intel processors. Also see if you like ATI cards, the performance to price ratio is pretty good. Good luck with your system.
Received the mobo, CPU, sata hd, DVD writer and already had the case & power supply. Everything went smooth as silk. Too smooth in fact. I'm still waiting for my Win 7 to arrive so I installed a copy of WinXP Service Pack 2 to fool around with. Was getting the BSOD and wouldn't work with the HD. Turns out with XP I had to go into the bios and change from achi back to ide even though I was running a sata drive. Well, there's more to it than that, but Win 7 woulda been too easy! Thanks!
Great video, Carey. Think it gave me the impetus to finally put together my own. After looking at cases for a long time I eyeballed the 341 Elite and yeah I got it at a good price. I looked at power supplies and came to the conclusion that the thermal take 420 watter was my best bet went back and saw that's what you were using. It's gonna be an AMD (Gigabyte) mobo and CPU though. An AMD X4 965 BlackBox 3.4 GHz quad-core dealie. Still checking will decide within a week.
hey do you have to use the case that you selected or can i use a different one? if so, can you please tell me some that i could use now? thanx! and great video man! :)
I found your video very helpful. This is my first build. I was able to take the right side off of the case exactly like you showed, but the left side is stuck and will not come off. I have the same box. I tried prying with a screwdriver but am afraid I will end up denting the side. Do you have any miracle solutions!
Yeah, the right side (looking from the front -- in the video Carey was taking them off from the back) ain't coming off! I thought it was poor quality control and the dealies that slide into the slots were jammed. Looking at the inside of the case from the opened side halfway up the case in the middle, near the front, there's a screw that's holding the other side on! That must have been added to the case since Carey made his video. You probably have seen this by now, right?
Cheers the video, I've just built my first ever PC (mainly for gaming) and whilst I chose mostly different parts to yours your video was good for a guide as such.
Where did you get your ram for 42 dollars. Thats what i thought you said. The other question I have for you is, is it really cheaper to build your own computer. It seams like more by the time you install the operating system. Where can you get the cheapest OS at. How do you install the Operating system after you build the computer. I think you just put the cd in and go from there. After you install that, isnt there a motherboard cd you have to put it.? Thanks for your time. Really good video....
One of the first things I say in the video is the date the video was made and why the date is important regarding the parts I selected and the prices I paid.
Ok i have to say you are an awsum guy u have made one of the best youtube tutorials i have ever seen i was thinkin of a project for 2010 and i thort y not bulid a computer and then i watched your video and thort WOW you explain everything so clearly and the video quality is great i wud pay for these videos also the fact that you have practically put your trade on here that is ballsy cuz ne randomer cud decide oh yeah ill do this thankyou so much 4 this guide you r an awsum person and i cnt
I used the same parts except I got 4GB from corsair and added an ATI Radeon 5770. My only gripes about the motherboard is that it's not a good overclocking MB. 3.4GHz is the highest I can go without the motherboard shutting off the network adapter. Other than this minor issue It's a great build for a budget system so I'm satisfied.
No. If you install Windows 7 it may install many of them but if you install Vista or XP you'll more than likely have to download and install the drivers yourself.
Dude your tutorials rock. I just finished my first build... i7 on a gigabyte ud5 with a noctua heat sink and 12 gigs of ram. I was able to do most of the build with just your tutorials. consulted the manual on all the little connectors, and watched another good tutorial on installing the heat sink. I'm surprised that some tech website hasn't snatched you up for doing tutorials. You're really good at it.
