Nice job, Woodchuck; DWS here. Quite a tuning for a demonstration, eh? Sounds like "Last Chance" at the end of the clip. All the best to you and Ms. Rabbit.
I play old-time fiddle, guitar, mando and I've been in a lot of OT james with some good, great, and even grammy-winning banjoists.
All the while, my pawn shop open-back banjo has remained at home, a decoration and a dream.
You video had me smiling within minutes in anticipation of adding clawhammer banjo. I've got to get this thing to a luthier or find a starter banjo or I'll bust.
I'm Tony Spadaro - the guy in the video. This is just a note to let everyone know there is a new edition of Rocket Science Banjo, the ebook, available complete with about 36 easy clawhamemr tabs. It's free. Just send an email to oldwoodchuckb AT yahoo Dot com with RSB in the subject line. I will not keep or re-use your email address.
The text to Rocket Science Banjo has been completely revised and new chapters added, covering the cluck, tunings, memorization techniques etc. It is free. send an email to oldwoodchuckb @ yahoo dot com. As always I don't use your address for any other purpose and discard the email after sending the ebook.

Thanks, wish I could have found you before I went out to buy all these books and videos. Your way of explaining is more like teaching someone to drink water. Don't get me wrong I am still I am still looking for the well. Please don"t stop.
Hi strings3002 I'm finding a lot of people who are looking for such songs on the Banjo Hangout. I started my students with "Jesse James" a song they already had in their head for a solid point of reference. I'm going to be tabbing out a batch of such tunes in the near future but I'm still working on learning the software. In the meantime join the Banjo Hangout where you'll find a lot of tunes tabbed out. I think. I can also give more detailed advice there.
Does the sound from the 5th string come from letting your thumb shoot off of it or from letting the string pop up behind your thumb?

Hi strings3002.
Thanks for your interest and thoughts!
We're planning more segments. When you say tunes explained - what would help you the most?
I'll pass your question about bum ditty along to Tony.
