  • 100% quality landing. Why do so many people think it was bad. Nothing was broken, the Ac still works.

  • why are there broken planes on the side of the road

  • Я летал в Валикали на Ан-2, этот разбитый Ан-2 наш.

  • What are you doing these days? Still stuck in the states? Your blog was a blast! That must have been one hell of an adventure.

  • looks like jurassic park or indiana jones place were they did the movie

  • that's all good...but how/where do you turn that thing around?

  • shitty landing.....its a paved runway and appears to be at least 2000ft long....you can land a 208 three times in that amount of space.

  • remember pilot you arent flying a 152 or a 172 you are in a 208 it is a bit taller lol

  • Thats how it should be done.

  • FUCK that was a hard landing!!!!

  • Must be a no-flare ex-Navy pilot.

  • That's the stall warning sounding. How on earth did they turn the plane around again?

  • @LewisFlyboy I think they leave it there . You can see that on 0:37 :)

  • What is the beep that sounds right before the plane hits the runway? I have watched the same type of aircraft land with out this noise occurring.

  • wowwww its very very difficult land there!

  • I watched all the kids come running out of there houses to see the plane. Probably rarly see one.

  • 00:36 fail landing!

  • health and safety would have a blast if they could lay their fingers on that "airport" :D

  • Super !!!

  • that is a road you moron! this is why.

    1. cars are not allowed on runaways

    2. where are the markings

    3. there are no bends, turns, curves, etc. on a runaway

    4. why are there houses right on the side of the runaway

    thank you good bye

  • @tehfailmyn

The runway doesn't Run Away from airplanes landing... they provide a RUNWAY for planes to land.

None Pavement landing strips have NO markings just a flat strip of land to... well... land in. I've heard the term Bush planes and Bush pilots for those who tend to land on non-paved strips or rough terrain.

  • @tehfailmyn

because tis a fucking poor country or what ever? and small planes can land on short roads too?

  • @tehfailmyn That's why the title of the video has "runway" in quotation marks you idiot.

  • @tehfailmyn in saudi arabia their is a portion of the highway made specifically for aircraft to land on, and cars can still drive on it, so i do not see what you are getting at. and you just listed US regs not africa...or wherever in the world it is.

  • @tehfailmyn You're a fucking idiot. look up the term highway strip.

  • @tehfailmyn It is an improvised runway

  • See kids, this is why you don't run out in the street.

  • Wow! It must be really nice for the locals to see these planes so close.

  • This is amazing! I never thought this is actually happen

  • are they still landing on that "airport"?? I heard they cancelled all flights since 2 pilots got abducted and one got murdered there... so sad

  • @kiwimave

Pirates can be found deep inland too.

  • brand new AN-2 near theshold !

  • @SYPHILIS1 LOL! yeah, new around 1960 ;) Very cool to see though. I think that's another one next to it, not sure.

  • amazing !!!

  • whats the bussines there (poor community) ???

runway 12 ???? thats an freaking road not even straight

  • @stealhty1

I guess it's an illegal landing of smugglers in the warzone of eastern DR Congo.

They took a plane to avoid checkpoints on the road in the battle zone.

They're coming to buy blood diamonds, coltan, gold or tin.

In return they pay the warlords who control the mines with weapons or beer.

So it's a pretty sad business because it fuels the war.

  • @Fredepraeses You stupid? Humanitarian flights.

  • @dangernub No, I'm not stupid. "I GUESS" it's a cargo flight of minerals. This Walikale airstrip is used a lot for illegal mineral trading. I saw a documentary on that and there is many more evidence on the internet. This could offcourse also be a humanitarian flight although I wonder why they wouldn't take the road since it is clearly not in a very bad state don't you think?

  • @Fredepraeses Sorry, sure there's smuggling flights..doubt they'd film them though. I've gone to school with quite a few guys who did flights carrying medicine, food, etc throughout the congo.

  • Is it possible to find a flying job in africa. I have a FAA private SEL only.

  • Comment removed

  • OMF INCREDIBLE..CARAVAN THE DREAM

  • Reminds me off Jilib Somalia but without the powerlines LOL

  • "God be thanked, that there is one, who controlles the road..."

    Hesekiel

  • nice video! but next time back off on the zoom and get the dash in the video..

  • was that an Antonov AN2 on the ground just before touch? Mt 2 favourite planes in one vid! Cool

  • @seymourbutt312 Most commercial airplane landing there are LET 410 and to have tried both, LET landing is much impressive than with a Caravan as the curve come much faster. They come with random goods and go back to Goma with caseterite. Humanitarian mostly used Caravan to go there and they don't bring back caseterite ;)

I already witnessed 7 airplanes in a row waiting to takeoff over there. Last landed first to takeoff. And it's is closer to Mubi than Walikale (around 32km away by road)

  • one question - How the f*ck do you turn around?

  • you make a 4 point turn with 10 Congolese pushing on the wheels and struts and one pilot running the tow bar. it can be an ordeal. true story.

  • @GretchenLikesToEat you make a 4 point turn with 10 Congolese pushing on the wheels and struts and one pilot running the tow bar. it can be an ordeal. true story.

  • crazy! nice video!

  • hell I would do it.

  • goin down there to pickup drugs and weapons and shit?

  • They come there to pic up only a sort of iron ore. Normally they fly with LET-410 and the pilots are russian. They came frome the air force and now they fly there for a lot of money.

  • this company flies humanitarian relief. often they leave empty. They DO NOT fly minerals and weapons.

  • @brucejyoderI 've readed an article in a big german airplane magazine. There 've seen that they transport this iron ore. It seems that id had changed. It was the same "airport", but another "airline". sry

  • Wow! Imagine a caravan landing in front of you're house

  • hard landing

  • Nice video.

  • Impressive - you wouldn't want to be the stray animal walking across the road when that prop comes towards you though. LOL

  • Nice and steady footage - Brings back memories of bush flying in Kenya - I'll try and convert some old 8mm footage of us in Reims Rocket taxing down a road to a bush camp after landing.

  • wow landing there must be fun but challenging especially with the small airplane junkyard on his right right before he lands

  • that looks rally cool , improvisation is the name of the game in africa! keep on flying and good luck,

by the way, are there commercial flights to this place, or how can i get a seat on such a trip?

  • probably charters... i think its probably scheduled air service for the united nations and world food program by the sounds of it.

  • everyone is lokking at the plane like...

    ???????

  • What are the coordinates of this airstrip? i'd love to see it on google earth! thanks!

  • It isn't an airstrip, it's a regular road being used by airplanes due to the lack of airstrips in the area...

Wouldn't want to land there though xD

  • nice flying, i quit flying for airliners, they're all shit these days anyways and you never really fly, you just wait until the flight is over so I take my hat off to you people. Nice flying, that is skill, not like these airline big mouths that talk too much and don't know how to fly for real.

  • ", they're all shit these days anyways and you never really fly, you just wait until the flight is over

Yeah, a real pilot would really talk like that. ... quit flying Fs kid...

  • yeah well topgun, as your name shows it all, you are probably the most stereotype perfect example I could relate my above observation to. If you would take a second and check out me landing in Galeao Rio de Janeiro (that's in Brazil btw), then I you would see that I have all the right to say what I just said.

Plus, I never really flew Simulator games, too boring, the few games I plaid used to be shooters and strategy games.

  • Hey Josh

Now that was an experience just watching the landing, I could just imagine the excitement of your first landing with homes on both sides, children running around...sure isn't Bradley International. Hope all is well, you are in our prayers
