This phone sucks. Mine has a mind of its own, there is usually a long delay after prompting something, i can lock the screen and it still switches to calander or weather or w.e. on its own, it rings or vibrates till the batt. dies and i cant pick-up the call cuz the screen is black & buttons inactive. Taking phones back to Sprint just ends up w/ them blaming the customer for "breaking" the phone. Sprint Sux.
Why make over-elabrate and unnecessary apprasial for a 'revolutionary' device that does the same things as any other smart phone we've had for several years while it shows the toppling of mankind's greatest technological achievements that have broadened our knowledge and horizons far more than a cellphone ever could? The toppling of lightbulbs to the Saturn rockets resembles how we discard things without second thought for the first 'new' thing, as if consumers don't care about anything.

@846286425 Well yes and no. It will crush the Evo itself because it's a year old, and everyone is moving onto the new smartphones, so they won't give the Evo much thought. No becuase AT&T and Verizon have had their turn at introducing new phones. Now it's Sprint's turn. Come CTIA, they will probably introduce another new phone that will blow the competition away. Again.
Does anyone else find this commercial hugely arrogant? The implication is that all these previous things, these genuine achievements of mankind, pale in the face of a phone. Not only that, but by having the other things touch, they're saying THEY all built on one another, but the phone is just so great it sprang from nowhere.
Really? Better than the first airplane? Better than getting to the moon? Better than inventing the lightbulb? And better because.... you can now download faster.
@balrogthane I am not sure I get you there friend. If you think about it for a second, every big thing humankind has developed, achieved or discovered has been forgotten in our every day lives. What comes up, must come down - the idea is not to forget them :)?
much rather have the iphone, with retina display, beacuse when you use a smartphone, your looking at a screen, so don't you want the best screen quality you can get?
@yankeefan610 retina display is kinda pointless on a small screen though, right, plus the evo might not have a retina display but the quality is still damn good
@yankeefan610 not true considering the iPhone has a 3.5 in screen. If you gave the EVO the same resolution as the iPhone, the screen would not look as good because the evo has a 4.3 inch screen.
@fabulous4137 The EVO's screen would look better since it's bigger. You're basically saying a 19" monitor with 1080p looks better than a 27" with 1080p. Not true.
Commercial is great. EVO has a GREAT BIG DESIGN FLAW!!! If you look @ the camera lense on the phone it is not flushed with the back of the phone. It sticks out & cracks easily. I had EVO only 3 months & didn't even realized it was cracked until I went to sprint store & they pointed it out and said it was a design flaw but since it was not listed as design flaw by HCT, they cant help me. New phone with cracked camera lense...bad customer service with SPRINT!!!

seriously paying extra cash for a premium data plan that does cover all of America, just seems wrong. The 3g service is very limited and the 4g service is even worse. If I lived in an area that does not have 3g or 4g they will still want me to pay for the data plan.

That's right, from the invention of the phonograph, to the manned space rocket, to a fucking cell phone. Fuck this commercial. Fuck this phone. Fuck the direction the cellular industry's going.
And most of all, fuck the notion that a cell phone is an evolutionary step over manned spaceflight.
@HisuroKun Totally agree. These phone companies wanna do a first? How about being the first to give us more bandwidth for our voice calls so they don't sound like shit. How about admitting that 4g is a scam and that it's really still 3g.
What was the 1st thing I did with my evo? Damn near feinted over the $700 phone bill when it should have been 200 less.
@TheLifeOfAlvinLowery I have an unlimited plan. The problem was they didn't give my discount and the guy lied about when it was due so I accrued interest on a late payment which I was told would be due the next month.
@Landrar dang, man. i just got my EVO. and the guy at bestbuy mess me up. i suppose to only pay a $50 deposit. and he made a mistake and charge me for two lines. and it charge me $100 for 2 lines. then he started back over. and use the card again. for $50. so now sprint have $150 of my money when they only was suppose to get $50. right now im piss. im going to try to straighting this mess out today
@HisuroKun Dude, fuck off. They're not suggesting that 4G is better than manned spaceflight, they're simply suggesting that first can revolutionize everything. I'm not saying Sprint 4G is an evolutionary step, but it is a large step in the cell phone industry. I can tell you are an iPhone user, someone who nitpicks everything about an Adnroid commercial, cause you are too blind to see that ios is old technology, and Android is the way of the cell phone future.
I'd love it if for every text sent 50% of what its cost is sent to AIDS/Cancer research, or perhaps even the salary of employees Sprint or any other telecommunications company laying off their employees. But instead they will- without a moment's hesitation- devote the money made off of this "revolutionary technology" to commercials celebrating the technology itself.
I'd love this technology if it's going to bring peoples of all nations and creeds closer together as a species. But fuck, I don't see any cultural revolution coming as a result of this, do you? Does anyone else here see us advancing as a species because of this or any other 4G phone?
All right, all right, how about this: Will this force us to rethink the way we use phones forever? Shall this shake the foundation of cellular interface methodology forever? No, I see people using this the same way all of us have been using our cell phones before. This "revolution," this "astounding floating brilliant pillar of light amidst communication devices" will have consumers talking on the phone the same way, texting the same way, using apps the same way. This phone changes nothing.
@odyma43 I'm also an iPhone user but I think theres a better cell phone os in the near future. One that out shines the outdated Android, and even the newer fresher ios4. I'm an iPhone 4 user, but I can accept my phone may someday be outdated ergo I'm a realist.
Wonderful video. Uses all the best of visual cues sending a strong and easy to grasp message in seconds. Great position of the product. Memorable, both for the commercial and for the product. Well done!
My breath always catches in my throat for a moment when the large rocket falls. It's like that lull you hear in a symphony before the climax bursts out
@Chocosizzles I agree with you. It is irrelevant to the performance of the phone. They must be sitting on pins and needles trying to figure out something important about the phone. Breakthrough for them on the first thing, but they aimed too high to think the public cares if it is the first blah blah blah.
I love the way the chronology works here. The time it takes for the rocket to fall signifies the gap in technological advance as the gov. was scared to release its tech for fears of communism. Then at the end of the cold war all of that space tech went into the private sector and from there technology was just unstoppable. Its awesome. :)
Did anybody else watch this commercial for the first time, kept hearing the wofd "first first first", and think, "wow, this commercial was totally made by Youtube commenters"?
The commercial is great the phone service an plan NOT SO MUCH> if you want to piss away $10 a month for something you're not getting than the Evo is for you. And while you at can you pay my rent too for nothing in return but to say you did?
Okay after comparing this to the iPhone commercial, this video really sucks. they need to let real people make evo commercials and not nerds. I have an EVO and love it, but their commericals don't say half of what the phone can do. The new iPhone commercial hits home and is powerful. These first ads, all suck.
smart phone is a product of variety, it is very difficult to emphasize one feature when every phone in the market is the same. EVO tries to present a bigger message that "this is another revolution." Though this message in itself is not effective because it's just not unique, BUT, they pulled it off with great implementation and presentation.
On the other hand, iPhone is selling on the video-calling thingy, c'mon, no one ever uses that, even It has been around for a while.
@VictorAndScience I don't use the iPhone. I don't like it. It's just not for me, I guess. I just feel like they mentioned first way too much. It has nothing to do with the performance of the phone. As such, being the first of it's kind makes me think there will be more problems with it because they don't know as many of the issues with it that lie dormant until the public uses it. They did good with tying the action into it, with the car, the rocket, etc.
I'm pretty positive this music is Jonathan Elias, but he never releases his stuff to the public...strictly commercial's property. He also did the Valspar paint commercials that sound amazing but never released to the public. If someone disagrees with me, please let me know where I can find it... I love stuff like this.
@Subfix33 I thought of Jonathon Elias too when I first heard the song in here! I loved the song he did for the Valspar commercial. Too bad he doesn't release that song, right? He needs to learn to share...haha.
@Xxbrown0828xX if you're talking about the "domino effect". not at all. 0:040:110:15 and 0:19 prove my point. now if you're talking about the items they used. yes, those are real
LOL what a commercial! Comparing the first 4G phone (and only several months ahead) to things such as the wheel, automobile, and rocket - a bit over the top!?
@mrmoraelin I equate that statement to saying Auschwitz was the best concentration camp, or American Airline Flight 11 was the best for destroying a landmark. I find it pointless to make glorification of despicable and horrific things. The case for ads or commercials being that they are destroying our environment by cluttering it and taking away what's actually there. Everything has a label or brand on it now and us as a culture can't avoid it.
@nataliapapaya Who cares? They're called Rube Goldberg machines. Regardless, this isn't about the Rube Goldgerg machine, it is about the evolution of technology and how simple sparks continue into massive innovations.
Oh and about the iPhone, the hardware is decent and the Operating System is terrible. As far as I'm concerned, Android is the only logical choice for a phone Operating System in comparison to everything else. If you know how to get the most out of it, it trumps everything else.
@TokoYami200 you may be shocked to learn that 94% of the population couldn't add a contact to an Android phone even if you sat down with them for 30 minutes... Apple is about well designed usability for the masses- and they do that very well. I'm certain Android can be a powerful tool among techies, but don't confuse your own needs with 'generally good'.
@AndreeMarkefors Andree, can you provide me with the website that states that information? i'm very curious about 94% of the population not being able to add a contact on an android phone.
all you have to do is push the contacts button then a big 'create contact' button appears at the top of the list of contacts. If 94% of the population cant do that....
@AndreeMarkefors Oh look, it's let's pull statistics out of our butt time! It's hilarious how Android sales are still rising regardless; I guess the masses are learning how to enjoy a system that isn't disgustingly rigid. Android phones are eating the iPhone in benchmarks anyway.
Also, how about YOU don't claim the general population should continue to acquiesce to terrible systems. Why should they remain stupid and continue to use Apple products? It's YOUR logic that is broken, not mine.
I love this commercial, I can imagine how difficult it must have been to set it up, especially that Bell X-1...although I suspect they might have used some tricks like nylon threads to bring down the mighty Saturn rocket.
@bakahhhhh They did asshole, computers are not that advanced yet, besides its much cheaper to do it with models, you can actually see some threads of nylon if you do slow mo..you prick
@CamiloSanchez1979 what the fuck are you talking about? i speak english...? if you don't know what trolling is, and you think this video is real, please get off the internet.
@Jaaakeeeee oh no, is not real its a hologram and I don't exist!! and no, I don't know what trolling means, because I don't give a shit about black people's slang

My breath always catches in my throat for a moment when the large rocket falls. It's like that lull you hear in a symphony before the climax bursts out
swathim123 1 year ago
God damn, nobody gives a shit if the phone is first or not!
Chocosizzles 1 year ago
@Chocosizzles I agree with you. It is irrelevant to the performance of the phone. They must be sitting on pins and needles trying to figure out something important about the phone. Breakthrough for them on the first thing, but they aimed too high to think the public cares if it is the first blah blah blah.
TheWarriorValkyrie 1 year ago
I love the way the chronology works here. The time it takes for the rocket to fall signifies the gap in technological advance as the gov. was scared to release its tech for fears of communism. Then at the end of the cold war all of that space tech went into the private sector and from there technology was just unstoppable. Its awesome. :)

Anyone know what agency did this ad? The creative director is my new hero.

The commercial is great the phone service an plan NOT SO MUCH> if you want to piss away $10 a month for something you're not getting than the Evo is for you. And while you at can you pay my rent too for nothing in return but to say you did?
MichaelEWolfe 1 year ago
Okay after comparing this to the iPhone commercial, this video really sucks. they need to let real people make evo commercials and not nerds. I have an EVO and love it, but their commericals don't say half of what the phone can do. The new iPhone commercial hits home and is powerful. These first ads, all suck.
alldfun 1 year ago
@alldfun
smart phone is a product of variety, it is very difficult to emphasize one feature when every phone in the market is the same.

VictorAndScience 1 year ago

Subfix33 1 year ago
@Subfix33 I thought of Jonathon Elias too when I first heard the song in here! I loved the song he did for the Valspar commercial. Too bad he doesn't release that song, right? He needs to learn to share...haha.

@mrmoraelin you serious? What about Old Spice! :D
Shun1Shun 1 year ago

TokoYami200 1 year ago
@TokoYami200 you may be shocked to learn that 94% of the population couldn't add a contact to an Android phone even if you sat down with them for 30 minutes... Apple is about well designed usability for the masses- and they do that very well. I'm certain Android can be a powerful tool among techies, but don't confuse your own needs with 'generally good'.
AndreeMarkefors 1 year ago
@AndreeMarkefors Andree, can you provide me with the website that states that information? i'm very curious about 94% of the population not being able to add a contact on an android phone.
m4yh3m121 1 year ago
@AndreeMarkefors
all you have to do is push the contacts button then a big 'create contact' button appears at the top of the list of contacts. If 94% of the population cant do that....
cameron42900 1 year ago
@AndreeMarkefors Oh look, it's let's pull statistics out of our butt time! It's hilarious how Android sales are still rising regardless; I guess the masses are learning how to enjoy a system that isn't disgustingly rigid. Android phones are eating the iPhone in benchmarks anyway.
Also, how about YOU don't claim the general population should continue to acquiesce to terrible systems. Why should they remain stupid and continue to use Apple products? It's YOUR logic that is broken, not mine.
