no. from what i've heard and done on an emulator is that in the japanese version, if you don't destroy the book the first time you get the chance after beating the living armor, you fight them if you go through nifilheim a second time. and ever time after in that playthrough, it will have you battle them. in the normal version, [the one i have in my real gamecube] you keep fighting the living armor if you keep doing it. ok?

You can avoid that by setting the Strategy of the team to attack from long range, if they still do it, they are probably out of MP so use some gels :P (nerd guide over)

Ys it is for Gc version(At least thats wat i think i never made it past the dungeon).

To get to the dungeon you have to go to sybak late in the game at least after the origion fight.You will see va weird looking book,Press a near it and it should ask you if u wanna go in or not.Havnt played this game in a while my explanation might be a little messed up. Happy Gaming =D
