i'v seen this episode a zillion times dubbed in dutch, first time i see this in english and i must say the dutch voices actually did a great job at voice acting, of course, the original is still, well, original. Great episode btw, and for the people who wonder what language the subs are, its dutch, and the channel it was taped from is "Kanaal 2" (Channel 2) (now "2Be") a Belgian (Flemish) Tv channel

Well, they're more sad because now that Splinter is a human again, he'll probably live among the humans from now on. At the time they didn't know the formula was only temporary.

I suppose, but look at Splinter when he's talking about being Human Again; with tears in his eyes!

Then he becomes human in a snap, then the Turtles are like "Well, off you go!"

It just has no emotion to it!

Because they know that's what he really wanted. Their quest since episode 1 was to find Shredder and force him to return Splinter to normal. Now he is (even though it's only temporary). I agree, though; there should have been a lot more emotion in this scene.

I have seen all the new TMNT cartoon episodes (even the fast forward episodes), and have not watched any of the old episodes for around 15 years until now, I think the new series is far better in many ways than the old series eg. better story , the turtles look awsome in the new series rather than looking like inflated balloons, and the new series has greater conection with Japanese ninja/samuria culture or history.

thats just how animation was back then. that's kinda like saying music got better since it's digital now.

the story might be better though, that's different, i dont know the stories though. never watched the new ones cause i didnt like the way it looked and i was too young to remember the old ones.

Even if he had stayed human, he would never abandon the turtles. As Splinter or Yoshi, the turtles are like his sons and he's been like a father to them.

But after seeing what it's like to put up with the kind of people that walk the streets in NY city, he prefers living as a rat underground. He has to remember the last time he walked among people, he was living in Japan and he's not living in Japan anymore. Besides he thinks he's better off as a rat because as he said it's given him great abilities like night vision and a keen sense of smell.
