my grand ma was brought up in Sua tao (Shantou) she just passed away today, and me and my uncle talking about where she's from and stuff like that, she was brought up there and then moved to south east asia. in early 19 century due to communist taking over China.
if you were really proud that you are diojiu nang like we all are you wouldn't be embracing a mentality which is destroying our language and culture. unless your comment has a hint of sarcasm which isn't readily apparent, you're being the most tribalistic as you are isolating us as diojiu nang while distancing crazyball8e by saying he isn't.
chapsroc, i don't quite see crazyball8e's comments as tribalistic in nature. he's simply referring to the fact that our chinese dialects, especially diojiu ue in our case, are dying and there needs to be efforts taken towards revival and more visibility for ethnic dialects. if anything, the PRC is eliminating tribalism in order to conquer and destroy our ethnic heritage. diojiu kids in suatao are not speaking diojiu ue anymore cus of the influence of mandarin.
Thanks for uploading...when was this video recorded? She is a very accomplished huadan and it is always a pleasure to watch/listen to her performance. Did she win the Plum Blossom (?) award.
