If you wanted better distance, might I suggest bungee cord and a pulley? You've got a structurally sound base there, but the tension is low and therefore the launch capability is weak... Crank it up a notch! Basically, it looks good!
this is awsome...im half way through building mine...tried launching eggs and flour and prety much made a cake. im onna try this method...cheers, but by the way its called a trebuchet
okay im in school right....and i need to make a balloon catapult...and its due on may 6 2008 and its in two days......and i didn't plan at all!i see how you made it,but is there anything else except the bungee cord to use?(please respond quickly).
Aw c'mon, I wouldn't even dare say that stupid thing, everyone knows that a trebuchet is a counterweight siege engine. This here is a catapult with elastics.
Cool! How exactly did you make this because for my science class, I have to make something that will propel a marshmallow 5 feet into a 12 inch hoop that is 1 meter off the ground. I decided to use a catapult, since I had to use atleast one simple machine.
i believe its something like 4 ft. by 2.5 ft. but if you want me to send pics, send me a message with your e-mail and ill e-mail you the exact dimensions
i got full points on this project. To launch a pumpkin it might just have to be a tad bigger because i just tried a 5 lb rock in mine and made it about 17 ft. (about 5 meters). you might just want to make it bigger just to be safe.
i used a something like a door hindge but only less wide and longer so you have more board to screw into. a strong word of advice is to have some good padding on the cross bar because i have had way to many board go right through it.
you need to make it launch like half a mile :D

no it not.....

A trebuchet requires a counter balance-this clearly does not have one.

How far did that go?

will this be strong enough to fling a 5 pound pumpkin 5 meters?
veejay94 4 years ago
it would depend on the tension of the bunge strap. but yes i think it could fling a 5 lb. pumpkin 5 meters
bowlmaster101 4 years ago
u sure......im dependin on an expert to get an a+.....thanx :)
