  • Outstanding playing Troy ! I met Mars and PT about 20 years ago and they were both very nice.

    Mike

  • @SIXSTRING63

Thanks. I've seen PT on YouTube do this song with a couple other bass players but no one plays it like Mars.

  • Welcome back mate!

And a fine return I must say :) Glad to hear you are doing well.

Looking forwrd to the next Rush collab ;)

  • @WelshPhantom

    Thanks.

  • Nice one Troy! I'm happy to see you doing well after your treatments. Its also great to see you posting new videos, and you look like you had a blast playing along with this tune. Oh, and congratz on the 2nd Geddy.

  • @BumDog2112

    Thanks a lot.

  • hello friend, what strings are you using?

  • @mbs3d

These are D'Addarios, light gauge. I just started using them and like them a lot.

  • Good to see you are back making videos and even better to hear that your treatments and recovery are going well. God Bless.

  • @CarMan792

    Thank you very much.

  • Good to hear you rockin', Troy. I'm very happy about your recovery.

    Greetings from South America!

  • @returninghero

    Thank you.

  • were you a smoker or something, troy?

  • @cbarrett34

No, I've never smoked or drank excessively.

  • @TJH3113 just wondering. usually throat cancer is a by-product from long term smoking

  • Hi Troy, You look real good! And still totally rock as usual! Nothing has changed in your playing style after a break from the bass. Still spot on!

  • @pmsbassplayer

    Thanks Stephanie.

  • Bloody fabulous as always Troy! Damn but I wish I had your experience and knowledge. Great news about your recovery. Let's hope the big C leaves you alone. I know people who've battled cancer and I know chemo is a b***ard of a thing to endure. Sending positive thoughts and energy your way.

  • @floouk

Thank you very much. Fortunately for me, I didn't have chemo, just the radiation which was fine with me. Chemo would have made it much worse a process than it was and I couldn't imagine that.

  • You're still just as bad ass as ever on that bass !! Always wishing you the best!! From another fellow bass player :D

  • @nuke97

    Thanks a lot.

  • Troy, just got a chance to hear this as we just got full Internet service here in the mountains. Fantastic! Even more fantastic is your recovery. I see you've lost weight but that'll come back. So good to hear you playing again my friend!

  • @tinman3012

Thanks a lot Ron. I've yet to put one pound back on but I'm not in any rush to gain it all back. I'm thinner than I've ever been in my life but never lost so much weight that my doctors considered installing a feeding port. After being so uncomfortable for so long and eating so little during that period I don't see food the same way I did before.

  • So good to see you playing again ! :) Another superb cover, loving the black Geddy. I've been watching your covers for a long time now (in particular, the Rush and Tull covers) and you continue to inspire my own playing on a daily basis, thank you! Very happy to hear of your improving health Troy and wish you a full and speedy recovery !!

  • @mlc4069

Thank you very much. I appreciate it.

  • Cool song, great cover! My mother had thyroid cancer and had surgery last year, so I hope all goes well for you Troy! :)

  • @TDCstudios

Thank you. Thyroid cancer is a good cancer to get (if you have to get cancer that is). I hope her prognosis is good and that she lives a long and healthy life.

  • Wow the black bass is. Bad. Ass. It fits with the song lol. It's good to hear you're recovering! Cancer is a running problem in my familly, I wish you all the best!

  • @Annonymus121

Thanks. Sorry to hear your family has a history of cancer. Mine sort came out of left field but these things have no rhyme or reason.

  • @TJH3113 Yeah it really does happen like that quite a bit, do they have any estimates for your recovery?

  • @Annonymus121

My doctors give it a 20% chance of returning which is pretty good in the world of cancer. If it does return, they cannot do radiation again. You only get one shot with radiation in the throat.

  • Glad to see you're back, hope you stay in good health.

  • @RushFanatic125

    Thank you.

  • You nailed it, sorry to hear you have been sick hope your recovery is quick and that you are good to go. Thanks for all of your videos, very inspiring.

  • @ultramanj

    Thank you very much.

  • Very sorry to hear about your unfortunate situation. I'm a bass player myself and I've watched and learned from your covers for quite some time. You've got that perfect Geddy Lee sound, which is really something special. May Peart, Dirk, and Lerxt be with you.

  • @McElrone

Thanks. We caught it early and the prognosis is good. Unfortunately, they don't hold back on the treatment - it's both barrels.

  • I picked up Rush's Time Machine Tour Blu-Ray the other day, haven't watched it yet though. Have you seen it or seen them live while they were touring recently? Great playing as usual, I really hope your treatments go well. Keep it up man.

  • @Rivers256

We saw them twice on the tour. Both shows were great but one was definitely better than the other. I got the dvd a couple of weeks ago and it's sitting on my kitchen counter still. Just haven't found the time to watch it yet. The couple of clips I've heard on YouTube sounded incredible. Great bass sound (much better than it sounded live). Thanks a lot for the well wished, I appreciate it.

  • And I also listened to Pat Travers for the first time this weekend since I got Makes No Difference free as a floppy single back in 76! Coincidence or what! :)

  • @ToonToon64

    Strange.

  • Hi there T. Great stuff as ever. Was actually thinking about you at the weekend and was hoping things were going good. Nice to see you around again.

  • @ToonToon64

    Thanks a lot.

  • Great song, great cover and great job! Pat Travers is awesome! Greatly underrated band.

On the other side of things- I wish you the speediest of full recoveries. In my prayers sir.

  • @Pratt81269

Thank you kindly. I appreciate it.

  • very nice, best of luck keep on playing.

  • @driveasshole

    Thank you.

  • Nice to see you back! All the best...

  • @Nivtop2112

    Thanks so much.

  • P.S. did you ever think of covering any Yes songs...

  • @TOMIT2112

I covered "Don't Kill The Whale" and just started working on "Going For The One". I don't so so well of the quick picked stuff.

  • Wow sorry to hear about your illness my prayers are with you...That being said getting back to something you love is the best medicine...

  • @TOMIT2112

    Thank you very much.

  • you rule man!

  • @wyldefan716

    Thanks.

  • Glad to see your back & on the mend.. feel better!!

  • @Faz64

    Thanks.

  • Your tone reminds me of Steve Harris :) Cool tone, cool cover.

  • @SgtZaqq

    Thanks.

  • @SgtZaqq

And thanks again for The Trees tracks. I haven't forgotten. We should be starting that one fairly soon.

  • Welcome back and thanks for this cover! I wish you the best in your recovery!

  • @Nileschannel

    Thanks a lot.

  • Excellent cover !

  • @apollonas70

    Thanks.

  • Sweet cover Mr T. Good luck with the treatment. Best wishes from this side of the pond :)

  • @JesusLittle

Thank you very much. I appreciate it.

  • haha that's how my Geddy Jazz looks too! Wishing you wellness bro. :)

  • @hershism

    Cool. Thank you.

  • Great playing! and well wishes.I have seen Mars play couple of times many years ago.and no Bass player should not now of him still in top 5 for me.apparently Jaco thought he was great too

  • @warwick2232

Thank you so much. Mars is a terribly under rated player. He could play really fast and with a lot of power. It sounded like he really beat on the bass.

  • Amazing and ridiculous, as usual! Awesome!

  • @3ccc33

    Thanks so much.

  • Welcome Back!

  • @dannster

    Thanks.

  • Your an animal Troy!!!:) Great job as always!!! You have my best wishes and prayers brother as well!!!

  • @frosty2none1 Geez, thanks a lot.

  • Glad to see you back Troy! I was thinking about sending you a comment to see how you were doing, but you beat me to it by posting a video. I hope things are going well.

  • @sjfalcon2001

Thanks. I'm much better than I was and improving every day.

  • Great cover as always and a wishing you a speedy recovery!

  • @bigbore660

    Thank you kindly.

  • Good luck with your treatment, and, as usual, great playing.

  • @flux1991

    Thank you very much.

  • Nice to see you back man!!

  • @Lordoftheflies234 Thanks.

  • Nice to see you back. Thanks for posting one more bass lesson... I am sure many people have missed them.

  • @vfigueira66

    Thanks a lot.

  • Great cover, love this song!!!

Good luck on your recovery, I know you can beat it!!

  • @jbassman666

Thank you. I really appreciate it.

  • Didn't know that song, and not that bass player...Thks for sharing ! Btw,your ears are good...and thks God your back on track of our great world as bass players...Great playing Troy !!!

  • @Javic2112

    Thank you very much.

  • Awesome hey why don't you allow your videos to be viewed on iPads?

  • @JVon76

Thanks. I don't think I have any control over the i-pad thing. I get that message on my i-phone on certain videos from time to time. Sorry.

  • You nailed it once more ! I wish you a quick recovery !

  • @diskovolos

Thanks a lot. I appreciate it.

  • Glad to see you back in action. I hope and pray your recovery is complete and quick!

  • @skoal7731

    Thank you very much.

  • Technical with quality, great work!

  • @dbratfich

    Thanks.

  • Great playing, it's good to see you've still got it, and the bass is beautiful. Best of luck with your recovery, Troy. We're all on your side!

  • @Legionbass19

Thank you for the kind words. They mean a lot.

  • You always play like a boss! Great job. You got that great Fender Jazz bass kicking butt now and taking names later and everything. That bass sounds awesome! Your amp isn't a joke either. LOL! Keep up the good work. Still digging that traditional skeleton mask behind your shoulder.

  • @83ishgirl

Thanks for the awesome comment. Actually, the fellow who sculpted that, Jeff Death, is sort of well known for his skeleton work. From what I understand, they're pretty difficult to sculpt well.

  • It's like you haven't skipped a beat. It's great to see you back again, and congratulations on your recovery.

  • @johnkew

Thanks John. A few cobwebs yet to clear out but I'll get there.

  • Very well done, Sir. Mars Cowling played some great bass lines with Pat Travers and you did him justice with this one. I wish you well in your battle with cancer. I'm off to view your Aqualung bass cover now. That is another one of my favorites.

  • @PrimevalRudy

    Thank you so much.

  • Pat Travers...WOW, I hadn't thought about that guy in years! Great bass line (as always)! I hope your recovery continues to go well!

  • @lesessmore

    Thank you very much.

  • SWEET !!

  • @MrHattrick63

    Thanks Dave.

  • Wow great tone!

  • @Kloudexx

    Thanks.

  • Looking great Troy, your skills havent hampered a bit; you still play with the same vitality!!! Best of luck in your path to recovery!

    Peace,

    Michael

  • @BassGuitarded01

Thank you very much. I appreciate it.

  • Hey man, good luck with your cancer. I really hope you make a full recovery. :)

Anyways, great cover, as usual. You're such an inspiration.

  • @RorschachsVoice

Thanks you so much. It really means a lot to me.

  • Trooooooooooooooooooooy! Back in the saddle dude, great sound on that GL Bass. I wouldn't change the set up at all man. Good to see you rockin out and great playing.

  • @Dan441734

Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan! Thanks a lot and it was great to speak with you a while back. Lets do it again soon.

  • Love your videos! Feel better, you rock!

    PS

Where did you get all those masks from?

  • @jayman1986777

Thanks for everything. Most of the masks are from Deathstudios. Some are from Darksidestudio. And there are a few odds and ends in there as well.

  • Nice job, Is there pickgarud on that? Hope your recover goes well!

  • @MoPower2112

Thanks. No, I took the pick guard off. And thanks for the well wishes I appreciate them.

  • @TJH3113 ahhh, u should throw it back on!

  • hang on! Hope you'll beat that evil

  • @vobbertoMD

Thanks a lot. I won the first round but take nothing for granted.

  • Great to see you back and wishing you a happy new year and a speedy recovery. I hope you find doing these videos therapeutic. Keep 'em coming.

  • @ednaplate

Thanks a lot. I had no desire to play for quite some time and am glad to have the "itch" to play again. Thanks.

  • Hey! Great cover, nice bass, and I wish you a save recovery!

  • @tallicafan250169

Thanks you very much. I appreciate it.

  • Hope you get better.

  • @nljuggalo

    Thanks. Me too. haha.

  • Man I wish you a quick recovery :-) Great tone as always

  • @SomSingsong

Thank you very much and thanks.

  • Welcome there again man, I hope you got better! Now I have got the same Geddy Lee Jazz Bass and I LOVE her! (Yes, I know, Geddy is a man but my basses are my girlfriends haha!)

  • @Prexi01

Thanks. I'm good for now but still have a ways to go. I'm very fond of these basses as well. Congratulations.

  • Great cover... AND AMAZING BASS!!

I want a Fender Jazz, but they're soooo expemsive

  • @ChrisLaxfingerboard

Thanks a lot. You can find them used for 5-6 hundred, which is still a lot of money but I really think they're a well made bass and they sound great.

  • Wow! Neat to hear you doing Pat Travers. Have you considered "La La La Love You"? That one's got some interesting accents. Great work as always!

  • @ifutureman

Thanks. I've never heard that one. I still have that "Eyes of Fatima" song you suggested. I'll get around to it one of these days.

  • Damn Troy, what a way to make a (re)-entrance! That rocked. Is that a black pickguard or no pickguard with the screws put back in? Kinda hard to tell, but it looks cool that way. You're looking good too, a little thinner. Glad to see ya back!

  • @JimmyJames714

Thanks Jimmy. it's "no" pick guard but I put the screws back in, otherwise I'd be sure to lose them. Radiation therapy of the throat is an incredible weight loss program - now I can finally pursue that modeling career I've always dreamed of.

  • Great to see you back!

  • @babaloo2222

    Thanks!

  • Glad to see you're back Troy. It seems like that recovery didn't mess around with you bass skills. ;)

  • @robbyraidr

Thanks a lot. Besides some blisters I'm not doing too bad - just need to clean some of the rust off is all.

  • hope youre feeling better Troy man, amazing playing as usual

  • @horrorshowbass

Thanks a lot. I am feeling much better.

  • Amazing (as always)! Your "ears are still working", and fingers too :-) Looking forward to more.

  • @carbonblob

Thanks. I've got some blisters but they'll heal. Thanks again.

  • New bass? Glad to see you back Troy. You've been missed dude!! I'm really glad you're doing better.

  • @mdotn9

Yes, new (used) bass. Thank you very much for your well wishes, I appreciate them greatly.

  • hope you are doing well, can't wait to see the other rush cover

  • @theratkingz

I'm better than I was. Thanks, I'm looking forward to posting it. Harry did another great job.

  • Badass man! Glad to see your back!

  • @Chargeglass

    Thanks a lot.

  • sorry about your cancer

  • @cbarrett34 it's alright, I'm sure he forgives you

  • @Thiswasnotmade forgives me for what?

  • @cbarrett34

Thank you very much. Hopefully it's all behind me now.
