I would really love to see the next iPhone have a slider so that you could have buttons for games. Playing games with your fingers on the touch screen is a little clunky. =P
hey everyone i have a first gen ipod touch. i want to upgrae to an iphone, but i am about 11 months into my 2 year contract with verizon, so id be paying about 120 dollars as an early termination fee, and the iphone 3gs is 200 dollars so all i am going to be paying RIGHT AWAY is 320 dollars is that correct?? i am aware there is an ativation fee and whatnot but that is on the first bill. am i correct?? answer please, thanks
Ok its better to wait; the iphone contract for att is coming up. It should end around 2010 so its better to wait and see. Plus with the cancelation cost the cost of a new phone youll be spending around 332.93 of the bat that doesnt include your first phone bill which would be 106 and that is a basic plan so youll be spending a grand total of 438.93. Since your plan doesnt end soon to me it would be better idea to wait the 11 mouths and see where att and apple is before making any decisions
good review. however i do agree with apple to not change the design. for people who are not eligible for a 3gs upgrade from a 3g, but still want to get it, i don't think they'd be very happy if they had to buy new accessories for that too. so, using your words, from a business point of view, apple may have lost revenue, but from a consumer standpoint, it's good that they stuck to the old design.

I find it more rediculous that people are willing to spend extra for the 3gs when they already have a 3g. you're willing to pay all that for a compass, better camera and voice control.
Most of you only have 12 months left on your contracts anyway, why not just wait then get whatever they release next year, otherwise you'll all be doing this exact same thing next year when the 3gs is superseded.

I was a first time iphone/ipod user before I got the 3gs the other day. So far I love the phone, very fast, nice and sleek. Since I had an upgrade and needed a new phone, could use an iPOD, and always wanted a GPS, for me this was a great deal @$199 for all 3 in one device. So far my only gripe is that there's no 'stop' function for the iPOD when playing songs, which is silly. Haven't had much time to fully explore the phone though but so far that's the only hiccup I've come across. :)

Not sure if you're joking or serious here so a quick reply. I don't think you can buy this phone at Wal-Mart for one thing (at least not at this time) The guy at the At&t store says b/c of high demand currently they only do direct distribution. Meaning you order the phone in store and they have one shipped from the factory/warehouse. Far as the 2 year contract, that's pretty standar for any new phone with any company b/c they subsidize the phone, meaning you don't pay the actual cost of phone.
I wAs serious, and i didnt get the iphone 3g s. IT's just too complicated with that 2 year contract and with phone plan, i saw it cost 197 but then it was way higher,i was like ughhh wtf screw it ill just get an ipod touch. I am posting this comment on it. I hate thay i didnt get the new iphone, but o well this is very good device.
The games for the 3GS will be rolling out within the next few weeks/months. The 3GS was just introduced recently; it's going to take a bit for developers to develop. I think Apple's going to designate a specific section of the App Store for 3GS games; or, they may have some kind of check off system in place, so when developers submit apps they have to specify which devices (e.g. iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, iPod touch 2G) can be used with the app.
ive got an iphone, but replaced it with an n96.. i i wont begin to mention the advantages of the n96 since itll go over the word limit.. the iphone IS shit, it has a handful of features better than other smartphones.. multi-touch, speed (and it cant run more than 1 app rofl), Apps.. iphone's hardware is like dinosaur for smartphones, luckily app store pumps out useless apps that make people wanna show off their phones or buy an iphone

AT+T/Cingular allows you to upgrade based on the amount of your bill per month. I think if you spend more than 100$ a month you can upgrade in 12-18 months.
I bought my Iphone 3g less than a year ago, and I'm eligible to upgrade because my phone bill is over 120-140$ a month. I won't upgrade though, perhaps next Iphone.
i would have loved if that finally put a warranty and rebate or at least 1 of those cause i dropped my 3g and the screen shattered cause it feel on concert but not the point i couldnt get a new phone till like almost another year so i was pissed but im getting a job and my moms gonna open up another line and lower the line im on now so ill help her pay the old and some of the new account and get the new 3gs so everythings gonna work out in the end
using Vodafone here in Portugal and the iphone 3g i am using from a friend has all features up and running well... i am seriouslly considering buying a 3gS with 32 Gb when they come out in July 19
AT&T is having issues making space on the network right now, think about it... like 20 million iPhones on the network, all going to be suddenly using MMS... It could overload the system if its not ready to handle that kind of spike in MMS USAGE. Thats why its taking them a little longer to get ready. It will be ready by late summer :)
im glad they didnt change the design. the people with the iPhone already would have been PISSED because they wouldve had to buy yet ANOTHER case because theirs didnt fit the 3G S. just sayin.
Ya i agree with most of ur thoughts although i think that they should have upgraded the phone with something more new, the speed is incredible and I already have it and would never go back to the old speed. once mms and tethering capabilities are available I will definitely c more improvement

So far my only gripe is that there's no 'stop' function for the iPOD when playing songs, which is silly. Haven't had much time to fully explore the phone though but so far that's the only hiccup I've come across. :)

Not sure if you're joking or serious here so a quick reply. I don't think you can buy this phone at Wal-Mart for one thing (at least not at this time) The guy at the At&t store says b/c of high demand currently they only do direct distribution. Meaning you order the phone in store and they have one shipped from the factory/warehouse. Far as the 2 year contract, that's pretty standar for any new phone with any company b/c they subsidize the phone, meaning you don't pay the actual cost of phone.

IT's just too complicated with that 2 year contract and with phone plan, i saw it cost 197 but then it was way higher,i was like ughhh wtf screw it ill just get an ipod touch. I am posting this comment on it. I hate thay i didnt get the new iphone, but o well this is very good device.

The games for the 3GS will be rolling out within the next few weeks/months. The 3GS was just introduced recently; it's going to take a bit for developers to develop. I think Apple's going to designate a specific section of the App Store for 3GS games; or, they may have some kind of check off system in place, so when developers submit apps they have to specify which devices (e.g. iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, iPod touch 2G) can be used with the app.

3G and 2G use 1.1.. so games will look better on 3Gs.. didnt know this little detail.. :P

ive got an iphone, but replaced it with an n96.. i i wont begin to mention the advantages of the n96 since itll go over the word limit.. the iphone IS shit, it has a handful of features better than other smartphones.. multi-touch, speed (and it cant run more than 1 app rofl), Apps.. iphone's hardware is like dinosaur for smartphones, luckily app store pumps out useless apps that make people wanna show off their phones or buy an iphone

i dont mind touch phones. my girlfriends phone has a touch screen. my phone has t9 so i dont have to press things as much as you when i type and t9 is faster than qwerty. theres more that is better on the n95 than just the camera. oh and theres more apps available for symbian than what there is for the iphone.

the n96 has the same specs as the n95- 8gb except the n95 has a more powerful processor and better battery life and the n96 has a 16gb hdd and a card slot.

AT+T/Cingular allows you to upgrade based on the amount of your bill per month. I think if you spend more than 100$ a month you can upgrade in 12-18 months.
I bought my Iphone 3g less than a year ago, and I'm eligible to upgrade because my phone bill is over 120-140$ a month. I won't upgrade though, perhaps next Iphone.

AT&T is having issues making space on the network right now, think about it... like 20 million iPhones on the network, all going to be suddenly using MMS... It could overload the system if its not ready to handle that kind of spike in MMS USAGE. Thats why its taking them a little longer to get ready. It will be ready by late summer :)

Ya i agree with most of ur thoughts although i think that they should have upgraded the phone with something more new, the speed is incredible and I already have it and would never go back to the old speed. once mms and tethering capabilities are available I will definitely c more improvement
