Never heard this and the recording doesn't do justice to his voice, bc we all know he was one of the best tenors out there. To me the best. Then there was Orbison, Jay Black, Frankie Valli and the one and only Johnny Contardo.
He even had strength in his voice in high school. I like the way he took this and developed it into a one of a kind voice. I respect that he accepted himself and did not have to dress up or act on stage. He just sang from the heart.
