The issue with Toronto for it (as a Torontonian speaking) is that we are a) Really in debt; b) We spend money REALLY poorly, the stadium wouldn't have seats ;) and c) The aftermath of Olympics (as bearmare below said) are horrifying. The city has to keep these stadiums running, but it isn't possible because the city is in debt after the stadiums are built, so the stadiums break down.
Oh, and to meet the stupid quota of Youtube...

I think the real challenge ahead for Vancouver is the aftermath of their Olympics. Judging by the revisions of many of the cost estimates for these games, this Olympics will leave Vancouver, if not B.C., bankrupt. The cost-overruns already seem to be crushing in their magnitude. As for Vancouver, the city has always had it seedy side. I suspect that people will be shocked at how decrepit Vancouver is.
