I played this in a woodwind ensemble years ago, using four flutes (two first flutes and two second flutes) and a bassoon. We had a wonderful time and it sounded really good!
@Gelatoalcio I'm not completely familiar with this piece, so I will trust your judgment! Even the best can make mistakes! I've seen Paul Tortelier make a mistake too in one of his videos here on Youtube.
What a combination- 3 of the greatest of their generation together. Rampal, Stern and Rostpovitch. As for the tempo, I love it - they play it that fast yet that well because they can. True virtuosity.
So effortlessy played by these masters. What clarity and what intonation! A bit faster than I would prefer, but these are the times we live in, seems all classical music has been put on steroids lately.... I doubt they accelerated it this way in Haydn's days. Nevertheless, bravissimo!!!

At 1:21 Rostropovich makes a mistake! I can't believe that! (great respect, obviously) :)

Tempi are fast for my taste. But I am very impressed how the masters dance through the whole piece with such elegance and ease.

I love this music. I'm 15, and I play the cello; I played this some time ago, and it was great (but difficult).

This is such a great music. Haydn will always be one of the best composers. (he is not the COMPOSSER clasica2009 ;) )

Four genial musicians: Haydn, Rostropovich, Rampal and Stern. Four great men.

this is a beautiful piece of music. I heard this with two flutes and a chello instead of the violin, flute, and chello. It sounds as good as this.
