Did you rebuild the battery, if so, where did you buy the cells?

The mac portable was purchased with the battery already rebuilt. I don't know how to rebuild the batteries myself.

i used to have same model without the backlite had use with the lights on at night paid £100 for it back in 1995 from my brother wow it was very heavy lol was fun to use had a 40mb hardrive those were the days

What's that stuff showing up at the bottom right of the screen when the machine first boots up? I can't hear the hard disk in the machine at all, it must be very quiet.

That is the Silverlining SCSI disk management program. It runs in the background when the computer starts. The hard drive is quiet when the background noise is high. I have adjusted the sound for this video.

Unfortunately not. Despite having a freshly rebuilt battery it does have some issues. I was fortunate enough to film the startup sequence and games in just two takes.
