@keshav0312, Louis Cyr performed a hand and thigh lift a few inches off the ground with 1897 lbs. In terms of back lift, he regularly did a 4400 lbs and had done over 5000lbs in practice. They said all of these lifts were done with around 75% of his max for fearing loss of audiences. He could have done more with training, but diseases overtook, weakened and eventually killed him. Horace Barre, his circus fellow, once carried a 1440lbs barbell on his back and walked some distance with it.
@asianbuffalo I've heard, he actually used to lift well over 10000 lbs when nobody saw. And instead of kettlebell routines he used to swing fully grown elephants by their trunks. Reportedly, he could also swat a rifle bullet and set tectonic plates in motion (which he didn't do much so as not to terrify his fans). Unfortunately he didn't make it on time to the Tunguska event site to prevent this from happening.
@wiadroman "..instead of kettlebell routines he used to swing fully grown elephants by their trunks."
To be honest, the elephants weren't appropriate for the "kettlebell routine". Their trunks kept separating from their bodies while being swung. He actually utilized fully grown whales which weighed about 100 tons each. He had special harnesses constructed around their tails and utilized a platform so he could accomplish this feat. When no one was looking he would juggle up to six whales.
@CynicalSkeptic1 Yeah, I have heard of those whales. Single handedly though, he could only juggle four. Anyway, he quit this when Greenpeace got on him.

i agree that louis cyr was one of the strongest ever live but i would rank him second a close first my strongest pick would be angus macaskill 7ft 9 inches 425 pound shoulder a 4400 pound anchor for the queen of england carried two 300 pound barrels and walked with them one under each arm shoulder 2700 pound anchor walk down wharf with it lifted horse over fence hold 50 pounds for long period of time with one finger would plow a field with a plow the pawm of his hand was 12 inches good vid
@Pentagonshark666 I know about Benni. Yes, I belive he's the strongest there is on deadlifts in our days. I didn't know much about Louis Cyr. But I guess it's how you say. :)
Crazy considering he coudln't use any supplements and roids unlike so many athletes today.

I belive it! But what if it there were just some simple circus tricks?
I mean come on... 4300 lbs on his back and no strange face?
I belive he was the strongest man in the world.. But I don't belive he was Hercules just looking at some circus photos..

@1GreatAlexander never doubt on Louis Cyr he was strong as cliff rock.it wasn't circus trick. The
Icelander titan Benedikt Magnusson made deadlift, 461,3 kg (1015 lbs) at the Ronnie Coleman classic
In second april what is officially the absolute alltime record. But Louis Cyr has unofficially made
deadlift 500kg(499,5 kg)
