@mikewill9511 Yeah we had the backing track on in our headphones, one headphone on one ear, and no headphone on the other as we needed to hear ourselves to sing in tune. We met the band members for a few minutes only, as when we went in to the place where they all were and listened to ourselves, we were shortly rushed out as, time is money . They seemed nice, when I met the drummer or guitarist (can't remember which) I thought 'That's A LOT of piercings!' but it looked pretty cool.

I have my symphonic musicians in the band Nightwish has absolute favorites, they have what I need in the form of an incredible pianist Tuomas Holopainen, a driving guitarist who Emppu Vuorinen, a voice that wakes me Anette Olzon, "Why not a rhythmic Jukka Nevalainen and the man who is always rhythmic and well-jung of Marco Hietala music makes me happy.
I am still praying for a NW concert with live orchestra and choir. T_T And it would be awesome if the same guys who work with them (The London Philharmonic Orchestra and Metro Voices) were with them live. :)
Now I've heard the album, it's really interesting (and familiar!) to see where all of these parts fit into the individual songs. Especially the wind instrument at the end (can anyone tell me what it's called?) that shows up in "Arabesque". The same applies to the bits that the band recorded at Petrax Studios in Finland, which can also be seen on YouTube. Looking forward to seeing these guys in Leipzig in May :-D
I dont know if anyone remembers, but back in February, Tuomas made a diary entry on the official Nightwish site. He said "The demo's Pip Williams sent me sound otherworldly!" or something like that, but I think hes right!! Look at the first notes the choir makes at 0:40 Gosh when I first heard that, I was amazed (which is an understatement)

@DarkArtist am 100% sure that is the piece of Storytime. I can hear it. The instrumentl part of this video (the first seconds) are Song of myself and the cildren are sisnging definetly Storytime. Try to listen the song with more attention. You can hear the children at 2:24 of the video ;)

Song Of Myself is suppose to be crazy. but it doesnt sound like it :S like the description of it explains that the song gets introduced by a huge orchestra going nuts. @SymphonyOfSword2Swan I know because i've listened to the album last week during a promo day in Paris :) Song of Myself is 50% crazy lol : the first part (about 6 minutes) is "big and orchestra", the second part (about 7 minutes) is very calm and slow, with people reading poems.
The soul of this band is Tuomas who wrote almost all the songs of NW. Tarja did nothing but sing what tuomas and the other guys wrote. She did'nt even participated in the compositions.
nahhh Guys i know that nw are still kicking asses, but ONLY hearing Tarja made me feel goosebumps :)I am veeeery confident that one day tarja and the other will reunite and when that happens i am going to fly from happines :):)
Both Tarja and Anette have wildly different voices to each other and they each bring something different to Nightwish, but either way, Nightwish and the music they produce will always be breathtaking. :)
the album and movie titles were changed because of some spanish company having a trademark on the word "Imaginarium". Sueing them and wasting time over papers in courts is not an option, I guess, otherwise we'll have that album released like a year or more later. Do you want it?
It's not that the music got changed bacause of the title, though. It's the same NWalbum you'll get. So relax and enjoy life.
@xx2n23 Anette is talentless? Nightwish is nothing now? Look at the album sales for Dark Passion Play and try saying that again. It has outsold all of their previous albums including Once. @ladyYeniel I just read that they're changing the title of the album a little to avoid any confusion with stuff already named Imaginarium. It's gonna be titled Imaginaerum or something. That's stupid. Who cares if it causes confusion? Nightwish fans will know what to look for. Why change a simple word to one that people would probably need to write down to remember?

@IAmTheAbsoluteBest I was just about to post this but you said it so well. I like Tarja's voice but I don 't like people saying she is the best opera singer because franky she isn't. She's not THAT good and there are times I cringe listening to her. I enjoy opera too and I know that Tarja would be laughed out by professional opera singers. Still she was very good for Nightwish but she wasn't the main ingredient. Tuomas is. He is the one who is irreplaceable.
@RagingQuietFury actually tarja does sing in operas and is a professional opera singer. of course that's not the only type of singing she does, but it is obviously carried over in the other music she sings. She is classically trained just like simone simmons, roy khan, and many others why sing in symphonic or power metal bands. It's very common to have someone with this type of training in these sub genres (and some others) of metal.

Yes, I know Tarja is trained as an opera singer, I'm just saying that she isn't as flawless as some people insist she is (and I'm not judging her from earlier Nightwish albums because I know she was still developing back then). I've heard better divas with better techniques who may not be as famous. Having said that, let me re-affirm that I do enjoy Tarja's singing. I just hope that she is truely grateful for what Nightwish has done for her career.

I loved the old Nightwish but I have to accept the fact that they are still good. They might not be operatic as they were before with Tarja, but they are still theatrical in their approach and very symphonic. THAT'S what I love. They use choirs and orchestra. Sometimes I forget that I am listening to metal, because it's so beautiful! The only thing I would like from them is to record a song in which only the choir would sing. Kind of like what Therion does. :) I AM WAITING.
Annette has little talent, little presence, and distracts from the great music...she has little to offer but I still love the boys. Surely you could have made a better choice but I will follow anyway. With Tarja or another suitable singer, this could have been the best Nightwish album ever......
Simple answer here die hard fans of Tarja. Either learn to like the new singer or fuck off. The BAND chose Annete and it is the BANDS decision, not yours. They still have plenty fans without you.

The soul of this band is Tuomas who wrote almost all the songs of NW. Tarja did nothing but sing what tuomas and the other guys wrote. She did'nt even participated in the compositions.

the album and movie titles were changed because of some spanish company having a trademark on the word "Imaginarium". Sueing them and wasting time over papers in courts is not an option, I guess, otherwise we'll have that album released like a year or more later. Do you want it?
It's not that the music got changed bacause of the title, though. It's the same NWalbum you'll get. So relax and enjoy life.

@ladyYeniel I just read that they're changing the title of the album a little to avoid any confusion with stuff already named Imaginarium. It's gonna be titled Imaginaerum or something. That's stupid. Who cares if it causes confusion? Nightwish fans will know what to look for. Why change a simple word to one that people would probably need to write down to remember?

Of course theres the movie dr parnassus but thats a completely different name.. Plus there are a lot of things with the word "twilight" in it but nobody cares. Lets hope they don't change it.

@IAmTheAbsoluteBest I was just about to post this but you said it so well. I like Tarja's voice but I don 't like people saying she is the best opera singer because franky she isn't. She's not THAT good and there are times I cringe listening to her. I enjoy opera too and I know that Tarja would be laughed out by professional opera singers. Still she was very good for Nightwish but she wasn't the main ingredient. Tuomas is. He is the one who is irreplaceable.

@RagingQuietFury actually tarja does sing in operas and is a professional opera singer. of course that's not the only type of singing she does, but it is obviously carried over in the other music she sings. She is classically trained just like simone simmons, roy khan, and many others why sing in symphonic or power metal bands. It's very common to have someone with this type of training in these sub genres (and some others) of metal.

Yes, I know Tarja is trained as an opera singer, I'm just saying that she isn't as flawless as some people insist she is (and I'm not judging her from earlier Nightwish albums because I know she was still developing back then). I've heard better divas with better techniques who may not be as famous. Having said that, let me re-affirm that I do enjoy Tarja's singing. I just hope that she is truely grateful for what Nightwish has done for her career.

I loved the old Nightwish but I have to accept the fact that they are still good. They might not be operatic as they were before with Tarja, but they are still theatrical in their approach and very symphonic. THAT'S what I love. They use choirs and orchestra. Sometimes I forget that I am listening to metal, because it's so beautiful! The only thing I would like from them is to record a song in which only the choir would sing. Kind of like what Therion does. :) I AM WAITING.

Annette has little talent, little presence, and distracts from the great music...she has little to offer but I still love the boys. Surely you could have made a better choice but I will follow anyway. With Tarja or another suitable singer, this could have been the best Nightwish album ever......

Nope, they did kick her out in a very crucial and strict way. She said she will leave the band after one more album (and tons of success if brings to both of them), but guys weren't okay with the way things went during the Once tour, so they fired Tarja "in advance", sort of. Because the was no sense in trying to make a good-spirit record when there was no good team spirit amongs the bandmembers themselves.

I'm not gonna say Tarja IS Nightwish and that it's totally ruined because she got kicked out. I'm gonna say that Dark Passion Play was a really bad album compared to the earlier ones like Wishmaster and Oceanborn. Once was really great but I think they used too much orchestral backing tracks for that one... I like to listen to old Nightwish records but live? They're not gonna sound half as good with Anette as with Tarja. So please Nightwish, stop playing old songs live cause that era is over...
